Spells and Magic resistance on the map
I had a question about casting spells on the hex map. If a spell is cast on your stack and one of the units in your stack has some form of magic resistance, do you get to use the magic resistance?

Great question. My initial thought is that it'd be impossible to say the spell works on 6 of the units but not the seventh. So either we go by whichever unit is on top of the army stack (my guess) or say if the spell doesn't work on the entire stack it doesn't work at all.
Then again, if it's a spell affecting movement (I'm thinking Mire) and movement is based on whichever unit is on top of the stack (usually your hero) I'd say if that unit has some magic resistance it'd be applicable. Now if there were no hero, and there is a magic resisting creature in the stack, I think he may get a roll to see if it affects him. If he makes the roll, he'll end up being the fastest unit in the army, thus "rising to the top" of the stack and defining the speed at which the army moves.

An excellent question. Here is the answer:
Magic Resistance does work when spells are cast on the map. So, if you cast Mire for instance on an Army Stack, and the top card (on whom the Army's movement is based) has magic resistance, he would roll to see if the spell is effective. Likewise, if he has Grant Master Magic Resistance, or he is wearing Neener's Invulmerable Cloak, the spell would not work at all.

Cool. I figured that was easiest and probably true, but I just love making things difficult!
Thanks Jonathan.
