Updated HC Messenger to Version 1.3 
New function - download individual messages.
You can now save individual messages by clicking 'Download' below a message that you've sent or received. The unique file name ensures that all HCMs can be saved into the same folder on your computer. Name of sender and recipient as well as the date in the file name will make it easier to browse and search this folder.
This feature should make it easy to save individual messages that you want to keep (as they disappear after 30 days) without having to export your whole inbox.
Export text formatting was improved.
Improved for better readability.
Message lifespan increased from 30 to 60 days.
For members who visit HC infrequently, and for those who want to contact them.
Stored messages limit increased from 40 to 60.
More storage for heavy users.
Notification sound fixed for all modern browsers.
The sound now works through web browsers' built-in functionality and does not rely on plugins or flash. Hint: if the sound wasn't working for you, turn your speakers down before attempting the "big boom" 
Export&Boom links show after 5 (not 10) stored messages.
Makes these functions more accessible to light HCM users.

While I have no doubts about the importance of keeping private messages 60 days instead of 30, I would like to bring to the administrator attention that the system which prohibits the modifications in >1 yo thread is penalizing the mods forums, notably the Heroes 3.5 forum, with WoG and VCMI mods being on dead links right now.
Calling a moderator and asking to update IS NOT a valid option, as such complex game modifications need special combinations of advertising screens, codes and links, so often the moderators can only botch the job. A solution was asked years ago via moderators, not sure if it reached destination, anyway I try here, thanks.

I had the same problem with some threads in DD forum, and will probably have it in H7 forum in about a year.

I second that, I'm currently having trouble with H5 mods that haven't been put up on HC filespace. Most links are dead in the old threads I wanted to check out.

With regards to the HC Messenger, the background is a rather hard green color. It creates a funky color-echo in my vision after reading or writing a message(s) there  . Is there any chance of making the hard green background another color that is easier on the eyes?

I hope I'm posting in the right thread. Lately, I started receiving spam messages from the user Williamer. I checked his profile, and he has 0 posts. My suggestion to stop these spam messages is to maybe add minimum number of posts (like 10 or something) needed before user can start using messenger.

Sorry, won't be changing the colour as it has been there for 9 years. I'm wondering if this has something to do with your display settings, or maybe it is an individual thing.
Thanks for reporting the bot spam. I've recently put measures in to prevent this type of bots from registering. Some of the bot accounts are still in the database and should be gone within a month or so. If you are still receiving this spam a month from now, post here and I will look into it further.

The overall opinion is that the place is quite heartwarming, regardless some usual bickering here and there, which tends to be everywhere.
I think the format of the forums is a bit old, not much support as we see in newer forums.
All in all, a decent and joyful place to be while stuck in the front of a computer. Even those I don't like much are sort of like-able, even when it looks like I'm surrounded by stubborn Durin's dwarves.

just a note: that notification sound shouldn't be going off when you have the hcm message page open, should it? because that's annoying af. i'm not blind; i can SEE that i have a new message(especially when i'm on the hcm page). i can understand if the sound goes off OUTSIDE of the hcm page, but it's highly annoying to have it keep going off while you're ON the page. especially when you have a lot to read or type, before you can click on all the new messages; to turn that sound off.

i never have more than a few tabs open when i'm on hc, tho. usually just hc, 1 other, and the hcm when i have a message. and that's only if i'm logged on.
i was going to say i don't think the sound is bad outside of messenger; but then i'm not logged on with the sound on on my computer often. really, a sound isn't needed for users like me. too bad we don't have the option to turn it off in our profiles...

what about being able to turn all hc-related webpage sounds off under our profile, val? a checkbox for that would be AWESOME.
that could also potentially clear up the issue with people who don't care for embedded songs in posts, as well. give it some thought. it's a good idea.
