ypu think Blizzy is going to slap Grove team into jail just cuz they made this town? as long as this town is for free,theyr'e safe.Blizzard is busy catching big private servers(like rivera) if theyr admins are charging money for it.

I reckon that all the effort put into this town is worth something, even giving the creators my plaudits is good, but with all the excellent work and time used would be worth money. I'm glad it doesn't though

But well done to everyone who was involved with the creation of this town.

I am afraid to say, but the Grove releaze will be put aside for uncertain time. There are several (imho objective) reasons for this:

1. Recently i received a town graphic pack from skywalkermg and after inserting it in the game it became clear to me, that some things still need polishing and even reworking. Good news in that i have an ability and resources to do it. On this weekend i and my HDD team plan to discuss the changes and complete the necessary jobs.

2. It is still unclear for me the situation with the monsters. K1ng still doenst reply to me. If i will not receive in near future an answer from him, i am goind to take the situation in my hands. Here are those monsters, that will be reworked:

1. Faun - satyr from WoW will be upgarded with weapon and probably some armor.
2. Moon hunter and Moon Slayer - will be fully recreated, basing on the WoW custom night elf male (or may be you prefer female?) character. Those, who play WoW can begin to post their suggestions about weapons and armors, because this is possible to realize.
3. Grove guard will be taken from WC3 as grove keeper hero.
4. Wild druid will be taken from WC3 as druid of the Talon.
5. If this will be possible i will create mounted raptor riders united with the custom night elf male. If not - and the k1ng will not make them - then i plan to use this units: WC3 vengeance -> WC3 warden hero.
6. For commander i am still unsure.

3. I dont know the situation with campaigns... Vlaad and TNT, if you are reading this - please inform me about progress. I write this openly at this forum, because i dont know where else i should post it. I suppose our closed forum is dead.

4. Nobody from Grove team made statistiscs and abilities for creatures. Our HDD team with the help of one good man from russian forum created a table of preliminaty parameters and abilities and now we need to script all this stuff. Because Fnord is not active for now and cannot do this we need to find another scripter to do this job.

5. I dont know is the obelisk puzzle map ready or not. For now i have  not seen it.

6. Under the question and the situation with the music. One our Grove team member some time ago tried to compose one melody, but i dont know did he completed it. Personally i have two proposals for soundtrack:
1. Night elf x theme from Frozen Throne
2. Rhapsody - Dar-Kunor [Echoes from the Elvish Woods] (Triumph of Agony album)
Anyway those above only recommended for using - they will be NOT included in the update as i suppose this is not legal.

7. I dont like the portrait pack. We will try to form a better one.

Well... Did i forget to say something else? Anyway, i am trying to openly speak the truth (as i see it) about Grove project, so you will have a true picture about situation and i hope you will understand me.

Funny, if you had checked the Grove forum better, you would have found a thread entitled "Campaign". There I wrote that my campaign had been finished in 2005. The version 0.97 (along with Thiago's Campaign Menu files) was uploaded to the Grove yahoo group and has been ready for testing for a year and a half now.

Which reminds me... Darkloke, you are a perfectionist (which is a good thing ). However, keep in mind the big picture... I sincerely believe the Grove alpha or beta should have been released a long time ago (at least for the testers). You'd have the priceless feedback and a sense of progress. What happened instead...? The details (balancing the stats, puzzle map, graphics polishing etc) could have been done later.

By the way, everything you wrote in your last post sounds great. Good luck with the project!

Well, sorry then. Speaking the truth i didnt read the whole forum at all, as there was already too much info before i joined the team... +I am not signed at yahoo group, so i didnt receive any files.

Nevertheless i am glad you finished it, so please send the files directly to me.

Well, i hope that you dont think that this a my fault? I already heared a suggestions about releasing only script and map parts of the town... do you really think this is a good idea? Testers of course can test the things w/o graphics. +There is no script yet with creature abilities.

way to take charge darkloke, that's the leadership it's going to take to finish a project like this. and also i would go with the rhapsody song, it's good intense orchestral stuff. rhapsody is a great band that would fit in well with heroes.

Nice to see things are coming back on track, and a big thanks to Darkloke for putting so much effort into this. My wife is very excited about the new town!

I think Vlaad has a point about the value of releasing a versions to test, not only because I would like to test it (and therefore get my hands on it faster!) but also it would streamline the whole process so when the graphics are finally redone the balancing and script testing would mostly be done. It would also be easier to tell which bugs are being caused by the graphics later.

Really we don't technically need any graphics at all as such to check the balancing of the town, just a script to change the stats of the fortress creatures, the heroes specialties and anything new in the town.

Incidentally, I don't play  WOW but I've always imagined Elves as being pretty magical, but it looks like we are working with a 3 level mage guild in the fortress and the screen shots. I was thinking that one way around this would be to have one of the other buildings function as a library or for the town to automatically get an extra spell per level.

Campaign Progress Report

Majority of things are completed, but there's a lot of scripting to do. I'm working on some 'important' projects, but I'll finish the campaign as soon as they're done.

Since Vlaad completed his campaign, it can be used for testing Grove. My campaign may be included in the full-version grove add-on.

i don't know, i still think that the rhapsody song would fit quite nicely, it's well composed and sounds mysterious, creating a very appropriate mood in my opinion. but i've never heard these songs before so i can't say anything about them. i'm more excited that this topic is seeing this much action in the last couple of days and not just people asking when it's coming out.

- Tauren theme - do you know it inner filename? And i hope you mean WoW soundtrack, not Burning Crusade?
- Van Helsing - please ... artist - track name - album... I think asking for a place to download it will be incorrect.
