Have to say this: HOMM5 looks gorgeous
I have to say this. Looking at the screenshots of the new HOMM5, and comparing them to HOMM3 and HOMM4, there's no comparison. HOMM5 looks absolutely gorgeous.
Even if they made the game exactly like HOMM3, with no new additions, I would still get it. Cos the gameplay in HOMM3 was already excellent. And combined with the new awesome graphics, and new maps, campaigns, etc ... yummy.
So, kudos to Nival for making the HOMM series I love so beautiful.

Well, I thought H4 looked pretty good as well.
Then, I played it.
The up-to-date graphics meant very little to me after I realized the gameplay sucked.
And off to ebay it went.

True. Still, we should gaurd ourselves against another let down. However, from what ive seen, read, and pondered, the gameplay looks just as good as any of its predecessors.

We don't know how the gameplay will be like, that ist true. But I can hardly wait adventuring in a heroes game in full 3D and for me this also counts as an improvement on the gameplay.
Let's just hope the best concerning the AI, as sadly it still might be a crap game if that isn't done well - as we've seen.

the first impression to all us about heroes IV was that ugly first buggy slow version, without multiplayer and with a lot of fails in the sound and another issues...

ok, but after they fixed it, was it still bad?
I rather liked it. I think they made some great changes - simultaneous retaliation, better skills for heroes, I think the caravan was also new, units can wander off on their own, and of corse the heroes were sort of units. that last one may have caused some balance problems, but the rest was great...
remember in homm1, when there weren't spell points, but you had to go to a mage guild to re-learn a spell over and over? for me, the caravan and the units' independence was as big a change as that. you didn't have to run around as much anymore.

Well, everyone has their own feelings. Please let's not get drawn into yet another discussion about which heroes game was best. I myself am a H III fan, but I understand how HIV apeals to some people.
