Well.....if you subscribe to the concept of an immortal soul (spirit) then there must have been some kind of existence before the flesh (vessel) was used by the immortal soul.  Or so it would seem anyways...

But here is another way of looking at it.  One of the laws of Thermodynamics (I believe, it's been awhile since I have done physics) states that "energy can neither be created or destroyed merely changed."

When a new life is created in a womb, the energy for that new life comes from the energy of dead beings, which came from living beings which came from.....so, you can argue that it's possible to live on and live forever, as energy that will continueously just change shape.  Of course the idea that energy remembers previous existence is an idea for further experimentation.

Yeah that makes sense ... you are right about the energy part .. so why can't a soul exist of cluttering energy signatures?

Don Juan Matus used to say to Castaneda that,
if a man gets strong/wise enough,he may keep his conciousness after he abandons his vessel(dies)..
...then he becomes a wandering spirit, rumbling around in unknown(to humans) dimensions/worlds

Insanetiable :  Yeah, that's a common idea found around the world.  If I'm not mistaken, Buddhism advocates what you have described, with the soul transcending this reality into another (nirvana).  But I may be mistaken here, I haven't done that much research into it.

Hexa:  Can you think of a way to test your theory of a mixed soul?  Deja vu could be an indication of mixed souls as could dreams.

But, to approach this is a new direction, (I hope), why not try to devise some experiments with energy?  We are still finding out new things about energy physics these days.  I recently  just read an article about howt the speed of light is not constant.  With that in mind how much more to energy could there possibly be?  And really what is energy when you think of it?

Well, I missed this one the first time around, but I am glad it got "revived".  It has been an interesting discussion.

First, my belief: yes, there is a life after death, and it consists of either heaven or hell.

Second, my proof:  Yeah, right!  If it could be proven, the whole subject wouldn't even be interesting!

Third, my reasons:  It is the way I was raised, and I have yet to see any reason to change it.  Also, as Icedragon said, if I am wrong, so what?  I will have lived a productive life and done what I felt to be right.  If I am right, great!  I have a place in heaven waiting for me.  Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Fourth, my feelings for those who don't share my belief:  Good for you!  It would be a boring world if everyone was the same.  It would be nice if people could disagree nicely, but if everyone shared my belief or even disagreed nicely, it would make me wonder if I was wrong.

Another thing, I have yet to see a way to scientifically prove either creation or evolution, and without time travel believe it to be impossible either way.  I have also yet to see anything the Bible says about science prove to be wrong.  Sure, there are things that might not make sense, but so far more has turned out to be correct than incorrect, and the incorrect is not proven.  The same goes for history, geography, and other things.  I would say that is amazing for a book written by 40 people over 6000 or so years, wouldn't you?

Anyhow, I hope this lets you know how I feel about the subject and why, as you asked.

I dont believe in a life after this. Its as simple as that. Ill cant motivate it, but i just dont do. Once your dead your dead. Thats it end of story.

Just my view on things.

Try to explain the sea to someone who never saw it before, even didn't saw a river or so.

Then we must find someone who got life after dead, and then tro try to understand him.

A defition what is life is not so quite clean - what is life, what is not. For us life is something connected with our chemical organism - when it'lll stop working that will be it's death. For some other people it's more than that. But it's hard to explain.

There can't be life after death! I mean, if you're dead, how can you live. After all, your body is rotting 6 feet under, isn't it? Maybe some kind of existence, yes, I agree with this. But life? Never.

There is life after death in different body? Physical apperance is important in the human nature , habits , character and pyscologie.... complexes , attitudes and developpement of a child character is under these circumstances... if you die you cant reincarnate under new form and same spirit.... imagine that claudia schiffer reincarnate under a new body like barbara bush... her angel attitudes will change of course.

What a pointless thread...

There is no point on this thread. I could give you what I believe, why, and even evidence, but there would always be a way for you to find evidence against it and thus the end, you won't believe me. No one is going to change their belief here, so this thread is pointless, sorry I had to be blunt.

BTW, I'm Catholic.

i think that there is a heaven/hell, but very few get into it. like the most evil and the most good. the other must stay on earth and live another life until they turn disguistingly evil or very very very good. life is a punishment for the ones who are good and a gist for the ones who are evil. dont understand me? good!

I think this is a very interesting topic because it makes you wonder what does really happen.
If you have an afternight,if you become a specter, what lies before you after death,do you get to see your loved one after death,Do you get to see historical or people you always wanted to meet,See a beautiful land, see a bad land etc that always got me curious that what lead me too write dreams 2 which probally was deleted my hexa because I believe that dreams can tell alot about certain thangs.
I seen alot of stuff that freaks me out everytime I think about it.
I seen spirits I had weird dreams etc.
Nightmares are thy worst, my exgirlfriend had these bad dreams but one was so scary she literally screamed her lungs out where it sounded like she was getting murdered it was was not a site to see or hear.
there were like 5 of us not including us so 7 in thy room & she went to sleep in thy other room.
Well when that happened we all woke up it was horrible, she told us what happened.
She said she woke up & walked in thy room & saw all of us dead sitting or laying exactly where we were at exactly.
Thy death she described was horrible to being skined dead to being split in half.
Then a couple people broke in thy aprtment wearing suits of some sort of some organation i guess & started chasing her saying she knew too much.
They finally caught up to her & before they could do anythang she woke up.
She had a few dreams  before about that but in dif dreams where she was chased by these guys in suits.

My other example is my mom which is true.
She has this gift which she does not wish she has.
She can sense when someone is going to die before they do.
Examples my youngest aunt & my grandma.
My aunt died first when she was 19.
My mom dreamt that she was on a bus which was so real & all of a sudden she dies on there then she woke up & she knew she was going to die.A week later she was wrong it was not her she dreamed about it was my aunt.
With my grandma she dreamed that she was in thy house & she turned to thy living room & saw her there & she said to my mom "I love you" then all of a sudden began turnin gyoung right in front of her & she woke up. My mom was in tears when she told us because she knew.
A week later she died.
At thy funeral she looked so young like in her dream.
Those are examples that scare me & I have some way worst tehn those & not all will believe but orless you experienced or knew some that did you wont believe because you cant love what you dont understand.
Thanks for those that listened

With Love.
