In Romanian folkore a balaur is a creature similar to a dragon, although distinct: dragons as such also exist in Romanian folklore. A balaur is quite large, has fins, feet, and multiple serpent heads (usually three, sometimes seven, or even twelve).
As a traditional character which is found in most Romanian fairy tales, it represents Evil and must be defeated by Făt-Frumos in order to release the Princess (see also Zmeu).

If balaur is the three-headed dragon then that's what I would vote for. Could you tell me what's an ajatur though. I never heard of it and it doesn't seem to be on wikipedia. I suppose it's similar to the balaur which would already make it much better than the Tarasque anyway.

I agree, but I don't understand how one is the upgrade for another since they are two different creatures. When I think of a Basilisk I think of giant lizard creature with six legs like in H3 or WoW. When I think of a Cockatrice I think of giant rooster like creature.
Everything else looks pretty good though. I would maybe rethink the level 7 creature though since a lot of the community seems to think there are too many dragons in H5.

They are very similar in mythological terms. One is a cock's egg (?!) hatched by a serpent, and the other is the opposite, I think. But certainly they are related enough to be in one creature slot, especially since Cockatrice is far more original than Greater Basilisk.

In polish legend basilisk looks like cockatrice so i think that there is no problem with Basilisk->Cockatrice because basilisk has many forms in many histories and therefore you can make it as you want.

The cockatrice is long overdue for inclusion in one of these factions. DO you have any pictures?

"Stories of the basilisk place it in the same general family as the cockatrice."
A cockatrice is a legendary creature about the size and shape of a dragon or wyvern, but in appearance resembling a giant rooster, with some lizard-like characteristics. It was supposed to be born from an egg laid by a cock and incubated by a toad or serpent.
Its name may come from a folk etymology for crocodile. Its reputed magical abilities include turning people to stone by either looking at them, touching them, or sometimes breathing on them, like a dragon breathing fire. The cockatrice is very similar (if not identical) to another legendary creature, the basilisk; the Jewish Encyclopedia considers them identical.
Like the head of Medusa, the cockatrice's powers of petrification are still effective after death.
In the King James Version of the Old Testament cockatrice is used several times.
Isaiah 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
Isaiah 14:29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
Isaiah 59:5 They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
Jeremiah 8:17 For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD.
So it is very similar to basilisk, it can be almost said that it is basilisk with wings.
