1. To make a perfect plan for day one chaining forgetting that your heroes have visited stables.
2. To take all your fast creatures on day one with your second hero to do a fight. Result - all your scouts now need to go take a creature from him.
3. To accidentally misarrange your creatures before entering a treasury/naga bank/criffin con/dragon fly hive. Result - your army is gone.
4. To allow the AI to hit your dragons in such a way that they hurt your own creatures.

Being in a hurry to get to a map location a new month day 1, and walking around some creatures that have just appearred.
And all kinds of circumventing creatures/map locations/your scout/etc by mistake - you're losing valuable movement points.
Although, those would rather be mistakes that a noobish stuff.

A noobish thing to do is not checking if the dendroid stack is upgraded. They look almost exactly alike.
Man, I don't know how many times I've done this and not learned my lesson. I was just fighting pack dendroids with day 2 Gurney. I lost my only single fodder stack because I didn't check for upgrade. I was forced to use my big cent stack to lure the dendroids. That's when they got morale and took out my cents. Then they moraled again and hit my main goblin stack.
Cost: 23 cents, 9 goblins, 1 wolf and almost lost my ballista from the second dendroid stack.
If they get morale, there's nothing I can do about it. But not checking for upgrades is my own stupidity.

I always instinctively look at the feet (or roots ) of the dendroids to check if they're upgraded on not. The upgraded version has longer and sharper roots. I don't think I ever confused them since looking for that.
A newbish thing would be to lose high lvl units in fights of no importance because you thought you could win the battle with no losses without fodder.

A noobish thing to do is to attack the enemy ammo cart with the main stack (just like the Ai is doing).

It is noobish to use...:
- Counterstrike on royal griffins
- Haste on phoenixes (hmm, could be effective if the phoenixes also were affected with slow right before)
- Anti-Magic on diamond golems (if it's possible?)
- Quicksand on combat in my opinion (baddest spell)

thinking that Learning is an appropriate use of a secondary skill slot is a pretty noob thing to do, one of my friends still does it to this day, and he thinks it's the snow...also, learning artillery and continuing to forget to buy the ballista is noob (and/or just stoner)...keeping up with purchasing zombies when you have less than 6-figures in cash

Casting bless on an angel or naga queen.
Casting curse on an angel or naga queen...
Casting misfortune thinking as if there is actually such a thing as "bad luck". Its funny, because even the game tries to fool you by saying you can get bad luck. If it wasnt for these forums, It would have taken me a while to find out.
Hiring a necro hero on a non-necro town.

Why is a necro hero bad? If you want to play that way you can even use them for a main in any town and hoard skels. I don't think I've ever done it, but there's nothing wrong with it.
Clavius and Nagash give 350 gold
Septienna is a scholar
Moander and Sandro start with slow (in case you don't get it any other way)
Straker starts with haste
Aislinn has meteor shower
And any hero can be used for a scout
Quote: - Anti-Magic on diamond golems (if it's possible?)
Yes, you can cast anti-magic on them. Golems are not immune to spells (except mind spells). They just reduce damage.
About misfortune. There are almost always better spells to cast, but don't underestimate luck. There are many situations when I would rather get luck than get morale. (like a melee attack against a stack that I can't kill completely)
