HOMM2 town rating- Knight
Hello I want to know what you think is the best town type in HOMM2.
Here we go:
Knight creatures have high defense, and in the upper levels are quite fast.
The Knight is like the Barbarian town, they are strong in the early or midgame, but not so good at endgaem because their units are not the strongest or the best.
They have the weakest unit in the game (The Peasants) and their lev6 unit like the Barbarians, is not the best of the lev6 units in the game.
The Knights will have the best success in fighting against the Sorceress or Necromancer.
They have an advantage when playing on small to medium sized maps.
The Peasant creature is the weakest in the game, but the grow in high numbers.
Never put Peasant in your army when versing Ghosts, as the Ghosts will easily kill them, and then the Ghosts will have maybe 500 or 1000 of them, and then they will become really hard to defeat.
Knight town has only 1 ranged attacker and that is the Archer/Ranger.
The Ranger fires 2 shots a turn.
The Champion unit is one of the fastest units in the game.
Crusaders are good as they have good abilities or special skills when fighting in combat.
They are: They have 2 attacks, they are Immune to Curse, and they deal x2 damage when fighting undead Creatures, making them quite a challenge for the Necromancer town.
This town type is good in the early stages of the game and midgame, but they are perhaps not very good at engame, as they have weak units compared to all the other town types.
The Knight town also has cheap units and buildings and this is really good early on in the game.
The Knight heroes usually start off with Basic Leadership and Basic Ballistics.

Knight: My review:
Buildings and costs: They mainly need wood and ore. Otherwise, the only other resource needed would be crystal for the Cathedral. They're cheaper than the other types too. Their special building, the Fortifications, toughens up the castle walls in a siege. It's only really useful if the town gets attacked a lot.
Heroes: Starts with:
Attack: 2
Defense: 2
Power: 1
Knowledge: 1
Knights start with Basic Leadership and Basic Balistics. Leadership is always good to have, and Balistics helps if you attack towns a lot.
Knights aren't spell casters, and therefore don't have spell books, but it should be noted that they're a LOT more likely to advance in the magic department than the Barbarian.
Creatures: I find that the only Knight troops that are really powerful are the Champion and Crusader (especially against undead), but all of a town's units complement each other. . ..except maybe Peasants.
Peasant: Their real purpose is either Ghost fodder or Skeleton food. At least in HoMM 4 and 5 they have Tax Payer!
Archer/Ranger: Being the Knight's only ranged unit, expect all units in the oppposition to target them first and get high casualties among them. Due to Archer's slow speed, they need to be upgraded ASAP. Not only does their speed increase, but they also get two shot per attack, doubling their offensive power. Need to be protected.
Pikeman/Veteran Pikeman: They have high defenses, but low attack. Opposite to the Barbarian's Wolf. Veteran Pikeman are faster and get more HP.
Swordsman/Master Swordsman: Same defense as Pikeman, but higher attack. Much more versatile. Upgrading them is pretty much the same as the Pikeman.
Calvalry/Champions: When upgraded, Champions are the only creature that is the same speed as the Sorceress' Phoenix, effectively starting most of your battles (except you're fighting said creature and it attacked you). They also get more HP.
Paladin/Crusader: Should be upgraded quickly: Not only are they immune to curse, but x2 damage to undead. Both have double strikes like the Wolf anyway. Also the only 6th level creature not requiring a magical resource.
Strategy: They last better if they can take down spell casters quickly and on smaller maps. They also need to upgrade as fast as they can too.
Leave the Peasants at home as soon as possible, guard your Rangers, and try to get spells. That's all I can say, really.

Peasants are the worst unit in the game. Do not buy these unless you are in a really desperate situation.
They have the worst attack, defense, health and speed out of any other unit in the game.
Arhcers are alright but still they are weak.
Rangers get to shoot twice per turn, which is always good to know.
Pikeman are weak and slow, I don't really care much about them to tell you the truth.
Master Swordsman are a good unit, they have good attack and defense skills.
They deal alright damage.
Chapions are the fastest unit in the game. They deal good damage, and they have good attack and defense skills. They have alright hp.
Crusaders are a really good unit when versing Necromancer.
They deal x2 damage to all undead units Ghosts included, and they are immune to Mind Spells, Bless and Curse I think.
They are an excellent unit, but they are are weak aswell.
They don't have the highest attack and defense skill, they don't have th highest HP, and they don't deal the most damage.
But they are excellent against Necro (Undead creatures)
You shoudln't deal witht he Peasants as they are a waste of time, and a waste of your money and resources.
