You'll get my entry I just have a lot of work on at University at the moment.
I really hope there are at least 20 entries.

I must admit I'm disappointed by the next-to-no activity in the contest. A couple of people have told me they needed more time because they're busy with school or work currently.
As for myself, I'm extremely preoccupied with school because I must get prepared for my national certification exam in a month. This is wy after considering it carefully, I decided to extend the deadline of the contest until 21 JULY. That's approximately 6 more weeks. I hope this time would be sufficient for at least a couple more people to enter stories. This also means that I will be able to actually pay attention to any submissions I receive.
I hope this decision of mine would be welcome by all participants.

You might want to drop by the other forums like GG and put a blurb up about it. I don't think the admins would really mind too much.

I totally agree with Gunnar. I'm insanely busy at this point in my life and there just aren't enough competitors to make this worth while for me. Where's the sense of accomplishment in winning a contest with only a few entries? After I won the Heroes Fables contest I was really disappointed to discover only 11 people entered, so I really don't want to put the massive amount of effort into writing the best short story I'm capable when the sense of victory (assuming, on the off chance, that I won) would be none existent.
By posting a link to this contest not only on other Heroes forums, but in every forum which houses people who might be interested in it, then we'd see a lot more entries and the whole thing would be much more worth while.
I do credit you for organising this, I think it’s a great thing to do, but wouldn't it be great if there were say 30 plus entries?

Hey Sirano_Simons
I felt personally obligated to respond to you in public because what you said seems to be on the minds of at least a few folks up here.
I indeed expected this contest would get a little more attention. I wasn't counting on 30 entries because that's unrealistic for HC but even half that number would have been great. Well, it's partly my fault because I'm not good at advertising and as a person I'm very shy when it gets to that. However, it's partly the potential participants' fault. Why? Because everyone keeps on waiting, 1. for the deadline to come up 2. to see more entries before moving a finger. That's a really vicious practice because if all wait for others to make the first move there WILL be no entries no matter how much I advertise. This is the right moment to thank the brave couple of people who've submitted already. Thank you for your support and effords, guys.
It is also the right time to mention that I intend to toss in a story of my own when I'm done. It's really not about winning but participating. The ultimate reason I set this contest up was to see new fresh ideas and stories and people writing not for the sake of claiming $25 but the ... entertainment of writing.
Under the circumstances I ... *we* need to be flexible and I'll do my best to go for that. As long as there are new and exciting bits coming up I'll make sure to keep the contest open and hopefully interesting for you, the readers, the participants, the enthusiasts and everyone else who just enjoy a good story for free

Writing is fun although I am not an excellent writer nor am I well-versed in the English vocabulary and grammars.
Its really nice for you, Lady_Milena, to start this contest.
The deadline is a good to have as it actually allows writers to plan their writing and do their research to improve on the credibility of their work.
Other than that, there are just a lot of people sitting around waiting to copy others' ideas and write a story based on that. I hate that as well but that does not stop the 'copying'.
I really hate to say this at such time but can you, Lady_Milena, stop posting the complete works of others as a teaser?
Posting one or two consecutive paragraphs is okay but not the whole thing.
Lastly, its the experience that counts. Reading and writing isn't everyone's cup of tea.

I'd like to give it a try. I'm not an experienced writer though, but, who needs excuses anyway.

I'd send mine in, but I already posted the first few paragraphs in the glade
Too bad too, because it's already finished within the word constraint, and is not about orcs and wizards
Well I'll be reading anyway, sounds cool.

Okay, just for your information.
A personal (RL) friend of mine has signed up for the contest. One of the entries submitted will be by him.
I am reminding you there are FIVE days left until the end of the contest.

Okay because I know TWO more stories are on the making, so since the contest wasn't as active as I was thinking it would be I'm being nice and I will extend the deadline one last time. So now all entries must be submitted to me until 1 August.
If someone else is working on a story too, let me know on PM please.
Thanks for the patience people
CONTEST CLOSED!
I have received all submissions and I won't be accepting any any more. I have THREE stories that I have to get the time to get ready for posting. For the record, I'm been extremely busy with work the last few days and I have a guest staying from Sweden. I make a point to read all stories twice before posting and I just haven't been able to get round to that.
I'll try to be as fast as possible and I want to thank all participants for their motivation, efforts and excellent submissions.
