I agree.. there some balancing issues still with the game. But the demo out right now is not the final product, so I have a feeling some things will be tweaked before the final release and then if the game sells good there will be plenty of patches, etc to work out anything that was missed.
Anyone else remember heroes 3 when it first came out? Took about a year before the patches fixed enough things

I also remember that the random map generator did only come in game with the Armageddon's Blade expansion later also with the heroes III 1.2 patche if i'm not wrong, but they removed it again with patche 1.3 cause was probably not intended to have it for the normal heroes III game.
I still play Heroes III from time to time, versus the computer (homm3.5 WoG), but i would probably not if there was not the random map generator.

If I remembered reading right, there will not be a random Generator (darn) But just like in heroes 3 & a bogues forgettable generator in heroes 4, there may be a generator to come in expansion heroes 5.

Even though I can't play as much as I used to.. Ill still make my contribution. Hopefully the map editor isn't too hard to use haha.

Indeed, the base maps that will come with the game will probably be exploited pretty badly after a few weeks. So new maps will be welcome.

I see too many strategies that can be taken at low levels and can pump up hero fast.
Knight adv Light + master of blesses + Guardian
Can fought with 1 stack, if wisely chose numbers.
Necro with plague, Adv Dark master of curses and spirit link. If animate adds it is great too.
Inferno with 4 ims groups that gate single imps + Fire affininty= Adv Summon Master of Creatures+ Fire affinity. + Consume corpse.
Wizards have no problem with mana + mark of the wisard work great.
May be Sylvan can do with single druids many bad things too...

hey all.
they said a map editor will ship with the game, right?
and.. i agree about the luck thing. i played all the maps that came w/the demo anddd luck seems by far the strongest skill. 3 quick levelups and you can have expert luck and rape everything. you need tons and tons of levelups to make any primary skill as useful as expert luck w/no subskills attached. just my opinion of course.

No map editor in initial release. Will be there in some patch.
Fabrice, producer of HoMM V said this:
We are planning a lot of things after the release. While the typical balancing patch is expected, we will also include game updates in these patches. The map editor itself will be made available to everyone through one of these updates.

The latest update on the editor
In an exclusive interview for Celestial Heavens, Fabrice said:Quote: How will Ubisoft be involved with fans after the game is published? Are things such as map contests a possibility?
We are planning a lot of things after the release. While the typical balancing patch is expected, we will also include game updates in these patches. The map editor itself will be made available to everyone through one of these updates. New multiplayer maps will also be distributed like this, and we are planning to include tournament tools too. Of course many contests will be made, either by Ubisoft directly, as many have been done especially in the french community, or by supporting community contests.

Did Aranger mention the need for Map Makers??
I am downloading the Demo now. Are you all ready for the return of Jinxer?
Not sure if I will beable to break my self away from my Online Texas Holdem poker addiction, but if game plays as well as the wise JB says it does, I just might beable to.
Any word on Zud? Is he gonna make a comeback? Not sure if it would be the same without being able to lose about 100 games to him.

Pfff, even Jinxer's coming back. I somehow have to lose my passion for WoW and come back !
There's a Caesar medal with my name on it, gotta claim it
We do need Zud though, he's like a cheerleader, lifts your spirits and always plays almost naked.
