It seems most of us HOMM fans want more factions, and there is a tie of 31% between Random Map Generator and Map Editor. So what is better? I think that the Randon Map Generator. HOMM V doesn't have many maps as for now, and that sucks. Custom maps made by fans are great, but they take plenty of time to make, so we'll have to wait a few weeks to get some good ones. A Randon Map Generator, on the other hand, creates as many maps as you desire, a whole different map each time. So, as I see it, the RMG is to be made before the editor, to answer the urgent need for maps we are experiencing at the moment.
More factions are always welcome. We have only 6, but I think that there should be at least 8 of them, 9 will be great. We are currently missing such factions as the Barbarians, the Dwarves, Swamp and maybe some neutral ones. So factions are priority 1. Then Random Map Generator, then Map Editor.

Well, the editor and RMG have already been promised by the devs, so I don't see the point..? The same goes for additional factions in the expansion(s)...
Like I've written in the whining thread, I think it's the UI that needs to be improved most.

I'd really like a Stronghold kind of faction... it was one of my favorites back in H3.

Vote: Random Map Generator, Additional Factions
like everyone has said already, more maps are needed.
additional factions – the water graphics are great, I really think that an aquatic faction would fit in well here
I was looking through ICTC and I saw a few like Ziggurat that be cool.
but everybody is talking about Nagas now??

Voted Map Editor +Random Map Generator.
These are the "basic" ultilities in homm series that I personally feel that it comes in handy and often taken for granted.

This guy is right. I support him,as u all guys. 2 more factions are a must to for the next version and a random map generator, although I think it will be very hard to make, because everything is 3d now, maybe it will be too hard to program. As for the map editor - why the hell u need it ? Do u make your own maps, and then play on them ? I think , that Ubi should release more maps soon, cuz they are pretty easy and not that interesting as the campaigns.

Random map generator: I think this is priority one. Its going to be necessary very soon for the entertainment value and longevity of the game for online players to have unfamiliar maps. The map variety that currently exists is just not going to be enough and is not going to last long and online play is MOSTLY what this game is about. A map editor is also important (some of my funnest games in H3 were on high quality custom maps) but I agree that custom made maps can come later when people have realy put enough time into learning all the new details of the game to even be able to create quality custom maps and scenarios.
New factions: I think this is important soon because it would be good for players to get a feel for all factions as early as possible. To make all factions competitive in online play it will be important for people to have time to learn them especially considering the complexity of hero skills and abilities now. For me personally I probably would not want to go into an online challenge with a new faction that I don't know as well as others vs other players using older factions that they are very familiar with.

There should be a Stronghold as that in Homm3, such a creative pure-might faction!
Campaigns are quite bad compared to Homm3, and we need a map editor.
And where're those all-mighty Naga Queens (Rakshasas are way too ugly)?
Archangels're naive-looking, their bodies are too light (not heavy), those swords are too light, far worse than those in Homm3.
Treants're too naive-looking too...
WE NEED MORE!

map editor
Actually YES, the map editor should have been the first thing they finish, because after the first few month the fan-made maps should keep the game alive. Map making takes time and patience too... the later the mapmakers can start, the more chance that people will leave the game before the good maps would start pouring in.
I think they did a very big mistake.
Other things to fix... I dont care about those you posted. RMG is a cool idea and factions too, but those can wait. I'D prefer not to have any additional factions at all btw (not even easy to add btw because the current ones form a full circle!)
Important issues are on the playability side.
More hotkeys, more details, easier adventure map navigation, memory leaks, etc...

I voted for the Map Editor + Dual Hero Costumisation. You might want to finish the latter: bugs would disallow players to play against each other...

Random Map Generator, Map Editor
To the people who think a plain Map Editor can take the place of the Random Map Generator, have you ever made a map before? You have no idea how long it takes to make obstacles (mountains, trees, rivers), position mine generators, drop resources, change terrains, and all the other good stuff that the Random Map Generator does for you. Even if you think doing that is fun, would you really want to sit there for hours just to design a single map? And think, if you designed the whole map, you'll know where everything is. How is that fun?
People really underestimates the Random Map Generator. It adds replay value to the game. Especially in this game, since there are so few maps to begin with. Of course, the Random Map Generator is not perfect (in HOMM3, I've generated maps with only one entry to a two-way portal). That's why you need a Map Editor, too. So far, I've noticed that there are no allied multi-player maps. My friend refuses to play against me, so we have to play a make-shift allied game where we don't attack each other, and the game ends when all computer players have been eliminated.
The game is fun and all, but it has very little replay value unless there's a Random Map Generator and a Map Editor to correct the mistakes of a randomly generated map.

What I really miss in Heroes V is a HALL OF FAME.
I mostly play single player games (poor connection ) and it would be a nice addition.
Apart from that, what this game really needs is more maps, so random map generator and map editor are necessary IMO.

Random map generator - A MUST MUST MUST for any Heroes, even the tons of maps in H3 were not enough for me
I would like to see one more faction in H5, just the factions see so tightly fixed to each other. Nerco Bs Academy, Heaven Vs Inferno etc etc. There should be something like stronghold or Fortress in the game, to break this balance and make the game more interesting and unpredictable.

I am disappointed with the AI, which was a strong point in h3 (well, cpu wasn't exactly too good, but used to do nice tricks and gathered nice army quite fast)
Ofc, RMG and editor are crucial, but they are confirmed to be introduced quite soon, so it's ok.
Duels are nice idea, and they will probably be upgraded in the future patches. As for new factions, well, I'm pretty certain they will appear in expansions - I vote for might city, bcuz it was present in every Heroes game and it's quite spooky that not even one might monster appeared in this game

Camera angle left and right switch; allied maps
Is it just me or should the switch the "left" and "right" when changing camera angle? I'm okay with the "up" and "down" when holding right mouse button but rotating left and right is just really counter-intuitive to me.
And also, there should be an option of perhaps "disabling the tall mountains that blocks your view." Whenever I guide the heroes underground, I ALWAYS have to rotate the camera angle 100+ times in order to be able to see what's in front of me and actually be able to click on the resources and the path I want the hero to walk through. This option would also benefit our missing picking up resources because the camera "wasn't at the right angle" and we missed it.
Yes, as Iris said, we NEED allied maps to play together. Sometimes people want to fight the AI TOGETHER not separately. Just my 2 cents.

So the ranger, demon, and knight mean nothing to you?
I do want the Barbarian faction in though. They are planning an expansion so...we should all be happy.

I'm not too keen on random maps, but I think having a dual specialty for the heroes is an excellent idea. To balance it, perhaps removing the "Uber-Skill" benefit for dual heroes would work.
