IIRC the Grimm brother's just compiled the fairy tales, i.e. they didn't make them up themselves.

Well, not really ... after all he banished us from Heaven because we ate fruit. When his son became much like a human he made him sacrifice himself "for the better good". And he made sure to kill all except a few chosen ones (Noah and his wife). He also made Job go through pain, lose his family, etc... for him to believe in God...
If so, what a nice God

Sorry to take this interesting and deep discussion off topic, but I just noticed the following:
Quote: Gods...wars..byrocracy.. Reasons we havent come farther than to the moon!
Wars stimulate research like nothing else, and bureaucracy allows us to handle our common resources more rationally than if it hadn't been there. It's okay to claim that we have too much bureaucracy today, but statements such as this one exhibits a profound lack of understanding of the historical development of public offices. Tell me, do you even know what nepotism is? Because that's basically what the alternative to today's bureaucracy is... :\

Yeah got the point. Havent it been for the world wars, we havent been to the moon yet. But wars hinder overpopulation, which could be a neat excuse to think outside Earth.

i know its a bit off topic but the reason we havent "spread out" is several reasons. But a main one is simply the distance. You cant regather fuel in midair, and only a few worlds are habitable.
and another one is who would seriously leave the earth to live on a barren planet elsewhere? you wont find any good volunteers easily

I'll try and explain:
The statement Nidhgrin refers to, as well as most of your posts in this thread, are uninteractive. You negate any reasoning anyone provides, no matter how well thought out it was. Simply because your holy book calls it blasphemous. You respond with painfully predictable quotations that don't explain anything.
I understand that you may be disappointed in a world where the typical person doesn't simply accept your views because you say so, or some Holy Man (appointed by humans, no less), or an ancient book.
You will be treated with more respect as soon as you make yourself respectable. You might like to provide some sensible reasoning for a change. Preferably without exposing your utter lack of proper education, like in your posts about evolution.
EDIT: About the whole moon thing (which deserves its own thread, actually), maybe it'd be more cost-efficient if one made a means of transport, the creation of which would be mostly a one-time investment? Yes, I'm speaking of the old idea of a moon elevator.

Yeah, let's go and build a moon base. It's possible with modern technology. We could ferry oxygen tanks from Earth all the time, and import food and water and everything else we need. It would just be insanely expensive and pointless.

I'm not sure what sort of reasoning he needs?
IF holy men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible, then that's all the evidence he need's. Prove unequivocally that holy men, the Holy Spirit, and the Bible do not exist.

Give one good (effective, supported by empirical evidence) counterexample, and you'll prove that holy men exist. Otherwise, it's like trying to disprove that the existence of aliens that are invisible, inaudible, and otherwise undetectable. It's like trying to disprove that the world is a simulation run by aliens. There's no way you can disprove something that is completely unobservable. There's no way you can prove it, either.

For all we know we could all be dreamt up by some higher entity.
Maybe all science and laws of physics and such will disappear by tommorow to be replaced with new ones.
Maybe god will come see us tommorow and say hello
At some point you have to have faith, There is no counter-evidence to anything because it can be theoretically disproved eventually. Just some things seem more likely then others

Maybe the Earth will spontaneously combust before you finish reading this post. But we have no reason to think that. There is as much evidence for that as there is for God.

Quote: IF holy men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible, then that's all the evidence he need's. Prove unequivocally that holy men, the Holy Spirit, and the Bible do not exist.
Okay, um, Holy Men: Holy is an adjective given to us by humans, so holy to some, hellfeind to others. Also, Holy Women exist too, since men and women are equal. All women are holy.
Holy Spirit: Cannot be measured in terms of weight, mass, volume, density, size, speed, wavelength, amplituted, heat, color, distance, radiation, or atomic configuration. When the holy spirit is kind enough to sit on a measuring...thing, then I will accept that (s)he exists.
The bible: Of course it exists, we read from it.
Also, all this comes from books written by holy men. However, as I have proven, all women are holy. Thus, we can Worship Harry Potter, since there are not just 1 but 7 books written about Him. Since they were written by a Holy Woman, then they are holy, and He is holy.

It isn't a matter of "maybe." The fact that I finished reading the post before the earth spontaneously combusted is a matter of objective truth.
If God exists then that's all the evidence that is needed for that to be absolutely true. If God doesn't exist then that is all the evidence needed for that to be absolutely true.
Aside from all of that, the evidence for God's existance is there. (Nature, the Bible, eye witnesses, history) You choose to either disregard that evidence or use it for your own reality that suits your own agenda.

I thought that the first people on this Earth where Adam and Eve, and they were on Earth not in Heaven.
His son did not become more like a Human, he gave up his life to make us better people, you're right about the second thing.
