Very, very true. As a christian, I should know. The lot of us say one thing and do something completely different. We quote the Bible and then do the opposite. Which is really bad.
But the problem is not the Bible itself. There are tons of great ideas in there, but most christians (at least here in Sweden) just don't care about them and just do whatever they want anyway, ignore it or simply explain it away ("well, I don't really beleive in THAT part, but this part over here is pretty ok"). The problems are, as always, humans.
Oh, BTW, christianity is pretty much a sequel to judaism.

Hey Guys, name's Ítalo, I'm new at this thread and would like to add a few comments about the theme. You know, I study Biology at an University in Brazil, my country is mostly catholic and it's difficult to talk to people here about it if you're from a different line of thought. I do not have Ieva as a God, but I'm not exactly atheist, for I consider lots of possibilities, but in my opinion when you want to believe something you should at least have a purpose, most people I know just think that saying "I AM CHRISTIAN" is enough to have others understand that he or she is religious and virtuous.
I do not believe in science blindly, reason and imagination (creativity) are not to be forgotten. We must have in mind that, as humans, mere dust in the universe, we're not the ones to set truth 100% assured of it, balance between what we want to believe and what is really a fact is needed in order to achieve wisdom and know yourself better. That's my message.

I'm starting to think everyone is entitled to their beliefe, as I may not have expressed in past posts. I am always changing, sometimes rapidly.
Why I just realized that I have 5 black socks that are all different. How in the world does this happen? I believe it happens to everyone and its mystical. It doesnt make me believe in god but it is quite mystical.

I kind of did but my previous posts may have signified otherwise. What matters is where I am at today, and where I'll be tommorow. I pushed my God against athiests, my bad.. Atleast I am not a ***** thumper saying your gonna go to hell. My beliefs dont specify who is or who isnt going to "the prommised lands" or "heaven". So maybe we'll chat in Rrl one day (real real life) and play kick *** video games with our mind powers.

This is interesting.
Remember better adaptation over generations IS evolution so you are basically admitting to it.
Just extend this over time and you have changes in bone structure.
I notice you don't have a problem with natural selection (better adaptation as you put it), but you have a problem with changes in bone structure. However in artificial selection, such as the breeding of dogs and horses, you can clearly see vast changes in bone structure.
The only difference is that these changes happen over a much shorter time (and artificial selection is towards a goal).
Remember all dogs were bred through artificial selection into the many different sub species that we have today.
Breed the biggest dog, kill the smallest dog. It doesn't matter whether this is done by a human breeder or by nature (if smaller dogs are selected against), over many generations the dog population will become bigger through genetic changes. It's the same principle, natural/articifial.
This is proof that selection can cause changes in bone structure.
It is amazing, I find it incredible, but it is not impossible. Not by a long shot.

They have changed genetically.
Genetic changes can be expressed either physically or behaviorally or passively it doesn't matter, the theory is exactly the same.
Any kind of change to the genetic structure of a population, passed throughout generations, IS evolution!

That is interesting that you study Biology at University, that's what I'm hoping to get into next year.
As for saying "I AM CHRISTIAN", the most important thing is that people seem to think that this will put them firmly in heaven and as such can have peace of mind.
To be honest I find the whole heaven/hell thing as fantastical and imaginative as Heroes.
 
And it is very well suited to a "universal" human psyche.
Obviously. (I don't mean to let the words get in the way of common sense here...)
I mean who doesn't want eternal life in paradise? A play on the ultimate reward and people's fear of death. But if reward isn't enough, there's also punishment: eternal suffering in hell. A nice contrast of the ultimate reward next to the ultimate punishment.
It's like Elementary School all over again.
