Hi, I'm new
You see this topic title? I didn't type it. I copied it from the Guidelines for the Welcomes forum topic.
Let me tell you a little story of my history with Heroes of Might and Magic. It is kinda late for me this hour, even though many of my country mates would say otherwise; I havee 60 newspapers to deliver tomorrow morning.
It was after my mother and my father were divorced. Life went on, and so my mother found a friend to start a relationship with. Her friend has 3 kids: 2 sons and 1 daughter. The sons played Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars, but on an illegal version of the game. I always found it a fun game. It was fun watching his youngest son play the game, but his oldest son has a better processor for the game. It was there where I tested out the Map Editor many times: I wasn't one for the well-balanced games, no, I always wanted to create my own maps where I had everything and the enemy had only creatures. Haha, I had my town next to the waters so it was a haven, and the enemy hadn't!
Eventually, I received an illegal copy of Heroes II from a friend and continued using my creativity in the maps. Cheating with the cheats to only view the movies. But there was this one map, a map created by a player, which was truly the first game of Heroes of Might and Magic that I played without cheats. It had a plot worked out very well, and as the months passed (in the game of course, hehe) your armies grew as fast as the enemy. That map I completed without cheats. Never did find out which map it was. Oh well. It was later that the sons of my mother's friend had a copy of Heroes of Might and Magic III: Restoration of Erathia. It looked quite different, but we could all see it is basically Heroes of Might and Magic II with more thoughts on possibilities. Another friend of mine has the Shadow of Death version. He was, just like me, one for cheats. So we were using Hot Seat and gave ourselves around 9,000 Azure Dragons, hehe. Later, I got a copy of Restoration of Erathia, but I asked this other friend for a copy of Shadow of Death.
It was Shadow of Death which fell into taste. I always liked using my creativity to make the most possibilities for the player, but what returned was the unbalanced map. All maps had it, it was to test the gameplay, but I did create one map which was truly a pride: I called it Dueling Keeps. I placed it at my site but I removed it. It's now somewhere on my cd's filled with other stuff... I bet 70% is useless, but still, archiving, you know. The map was that 2 kingdoms were seperated by a large river, and only 1 bridge was build; at the end of each bridge, a gate of the player stood. I'll build it out this holiday, I think.
I got a job. The newspapers. My mother and his friend broke up. Then, the important change occurred: I attached much worth on presentation by authors. I started buying cd's so I have the full presentation (my personal website has much information about this, and I want to finish the basics upcoming holidays), instead of only the songs. I hear that all the copies I have of songs have not the same quality, when I compare them with the original. But then, I bought my first game for the PC. Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete, and Heroes of Might and Magic IV: Complete. A huge enjoyment for me, however... I bought it in Germany. And even though Heroes III was in English, Heroes IV wasn't. So, I gave IV to a friend of mine. I'll buy Heroes IV again, but then in Holland. Let's hope it won't be Dutchly langued then!
I play this online game called Knights of Noblemen. It is there where I lead my own alliance. I got to know a girl, who's in my alliance, and we've known each other for 1 year when I thought: 'I have Heroes III, but why don't I have the preludes originally?' You know, what happened before the Restoration of Erathia and all. I found some information about the list of games published concerning Heroes of Might and Magic. I'm not one for Might and Magic, as I don't throw myself into something around games (which is ironic: Heroes of Might and Magic is something around Might and Magic), but I got myself a strategy to execute my plans of collecting Heroes of Might and Magic: I wanted to go for the Compendium. That was kinda lucky: everything before III combined, that means including the prelude, King's Bounty, which was named in the manual. I found a seller, and chose to reserve one of the sold Heroes of Might and Magic Compendia. There were two problems: it was in the United States, meaning I had to pay in Dollars, but the other problem was that I could only pay through Paypal or letter. Through letter would mean I had to change my Euros to Dollars, which would take a long while, and still, sending a letter with dollars is quite risky. So, I chose to ask for help through the forums in the Knights of Noblemen game. Then, the girl of my alliance said she'll take care of it... And so she paid for a game that was sent to me. Not only was that impressive, it shows what the Internet can have with possibilities.
And the package, wow, it was big! I installed it to my own computer, and man, Heroes of Might and Magic I, it just looks so very cool! So nostalgic! And King's Bounty, that game looked so impressively old! How beautiful to see what started it all! I was mostly impressed by the stereotype creatures (the Genie looks like the Dutch Efteling Fakir, the Ghost looks like a Bloody Mary and the Rogue looks like the bandits of a Western movie), and the pink Dragon. Then, I installed Heroes of Might and Magic II.
I am now playing campaigns of Heroes of Might and Magic III, chronologically. I will then start playing Heroes of Might and Magic I and II, and hopefully then I'll have IV. It's nice to see how Heroes of Might and Magic V is starting up, but I'd like to wait until a combination of its possible future expansions will be released. But the most beautiful is, that at Heroes of Might and Magic II I started playing an Expansion Map, and completed it without any trouble at all.

Great story! It's nice to know that you've really been enjoying the HOMM games. H2 was the first game that got me completely hooked and excited. Indeed, it was a truly enjoyable experience throughout the years that followed.

Sorry to be out-topic, but I have to post it here since I cannot make a new thread.
Whenever I tried to post a new thread a message showed up, "Your post count is insufficient to make another new thread. You can reply to existing threads instead." So I went to make a few replies but it still doesnt work, showing the same wrong message. What's wrong? and how to solve it?

Welcome to HC.
You need 10 posts for each new thread. Posting in the same topic in a row reduces your post count, so you've done yourself more harm than good Just answer some interesting threads and when your post count is 11 you can make another thread.
____________
You can wait for others to do it, but if they don't know how, you'll wait forever.
Be an example of what you want to see on HC and in the world.

You rock, Valerity. Thanks ever so much. >=D
Edit
And thank you all! =D Hopefully I can get a small environment here... Or will I have to move this thing to a tavern? Nah I think I'd better wait a little, copy this thing to my own diary or something, and uh, well, get it deleted. =\
