I made them in ... Microsoft Word ... actually ... believe it or not. So it doesn't get more cumbersome than that.

There's a template here, that includes creature tables, skills, abilities and skill trees. You'll have to add relevant information and color yourselves.

It depends on the purpose. If you're only going to make one table, it's probably easier to use a graphics program, but having it like this makes it fairly easy to do replicas.

Wow, this is really really amazing... I'd love three new towns like these in the Heroes Universe, although I am not really into the whole Berserk ability But I could really imagine such castles actuslly making the game, well done! And kudos to you for taking the time and patience to compile such a strong description of each race!

WOW
This is just amazing!
Now I want to see all these towns in the game.
They Rock!
If these towns were included in the expansion it could easily be called HOMM 6 (or 5.5)
Great Work!

Alcibiades, you're a genius. You have my deep respect. Check out the "perfect stronghold" thread, I think you would be extremely helpful.

Very interesting things indeed, I especially like the spell system! I am of the same opinion, that 3 magic schools should be for every town. I have a few questions, though.
Haven is aligned to Dark & Light magic currently, but you don’t put Dark for Haven at all. Academy is aligned with Light & Summoning, but you don’t have Summoning for them at all..
My suggestion would be that:
Academy – Light, Summoning and Destructive (Mark of the Wizard)
For Academy I could assign all 4 spell schools, because of Library and they are the Magic faction at the moment. They have a hero starting with Dark Magic too.
Dungeon – Destructive, Summoning and Dark (Dark as extra is a must, they start with two heroes having Dark magic)
Sylvan – Destructive, Light & Summoning (summoning is obvious)
Necro – Dark, Summoning & Destructive (high spellpower and heroes starting with that magic)
Inferno – Destuctive, Dark & Light (low spellpower makes inferno benefit from Light very much, it is more of a might faction)
Haven – Light, Dark & Summoning(a low spellpower faction that well where as Summoning abilities give +4 to spellpower of certain spells)
I would be interested to know why you changed the spell alignments of the existing towns, because I find them fitting (Dark for Haven because of low spellpower etc.

I arranged the spell schools corresponding to each faction purely based on "allignment". I know a lot of the alignments I propose goes poorly with the current concepts of the game - as you say, I removed dark magic completely from the Haven.
I had two main guidelines for what I did - I wanted to have something systematic, so that the opposing towns are on opposite sides of the "wheel" - thus, Haven is opposite of Inferno, Academy opposite of Necropolis, etc. Secondly, I looked into the core philosophies of each faction. For instance, Haven represents very much light and virtue for me, and obviously goes very badly with dark magic for that reason. For me, Blessing is the very essence of Haven's magic, and in that respect, they are directly opposed to Dark Magic / cursing - therefore, I removed the connection between Haven and Dark Magic. Similarly, Necropolis for me is pretty much a symbol of everything that Dark Magic stands for - cursing, disease etc. - look at the creature specials! - Dungeon and Sylvan pretty much focus on Destructive Magic and Summoning Magic as the cornerstone of their philosophies. Towns like Inferno, Fortress and Stronghold, on the other hand, are more might oriented and sits between the schools.
Of course, this is a scheme I developed and I tried to make it fit in with the current game as best possible. Obviously, there are some flaws, like the Ranger being a might hero, where I would have preferred the Summoner of Heroes 4 who obviously specializes in Summoning Magic. Similarly, the current distribution of the primary skills on the classes doesn't fit entirely with this system - in my oppinion, this is not so much a problem with this model than a problem with the game: Following the ideas of Heroes 3, stats should increase more evenly after the 10th level. Obviously, a Hero with spellpower 3 is not gonna have much use of Destructive Magic, but then, a Demon Lord with a modest spellpower could still make nice use of the combination of Dark and Destructive magic.
As for the idea of Academy being alligned with all 4 schools, I say no, because I have resserved that position for the Sanctuary - and also because the Academy is one of the "regular" towns, with an alignment and an enemy, and therefore should have a position similar to the other towns. They will only specialize in three schools, but will still get more spells from those schools courtesy of the Library. The Sorceress of the Sanctuary will specialize evenly in all four schools and will get the same number of spells from all schools accordingly.
I hope this makes my thoughts more clear to you. I will finish off by saying one could easily swap some towns - you could swap Academy with Haven and Necropolis with Inferno - that would be equally valid and might fit better with the way the game is now - however, I think this makes better sense with the way I feel the allignments of the towns.

Yes, that is logical nad well thought indeed. I get the big picture now, and if they change the spellschools that are currently assigned to them, your system makes perfect sence.
If the spellschools alignments are to stay, the Wheel would still make perfect sence. If you insert the towns with my suggestion for spellschools, you will notice that it remains very systematic. Haven would be at the place of Necro; Inferno at the place of Academy; Academy at the place of Haven and Necro at the place of Inferno, Sylvan and Dungeon would remain where they are. Every rival faction would be opposite to one another, like it was originally.
What happens is that the evil factions are positioned at the other side of the sphere and good at the other, only Haven wouldn't be the center of good factions, but Academy. This goes well with my philosophy of humans being more in the "between" than supreme good. Anyways good work, just letting my thoughts fly

I can follow you, and yes, it would make good sense. Basically, one would just have to replace the cities and then turn the "wheel" to keep the remains of having Good in the top and Evil in the bottom. However, I guess it would kinda screw up things with the alignments for Chaos and Law, but nevermind that, the alignment thing is not that central a part of the game. And thanks for digging into this and giving me the feedback, it's always appreciated when people like your ideas.
