Need HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY CAN'T I ACTIVATE THE CHEAT FOR ANY OF THE HOMM5 (H5, HoF, ToE)?
I DID EVERYTHING THAT THE CHEAT COMMAND SAYS BUT IT DOES NOT WORK??

a slight problem.
I am a bit of a newb at this kinda thing. i am trying to edit the autoexec.cfg but im assuming for the console to become effective i would have to save said changes, that is where the problem is. Neither notepad or wordpad will allow me to save the changes. any suggestions??

Are you running under Win7 and getting "access denied"?

no im running vista. It seems i am not the only one with this issue, there are two others further up the page that have the same situation. so perhaps not such a newb question after all.

I don't know Vista but I think it has the "Adminstrator" actions? If its anything like Win7 with the higher security settings, I had to 'dial down the sensivity' and run as Admin. for program installations and simpler file-functions too. Clutching straws. Not being able to save in notepad or wordpad is what caught my eye, since others are using them.

Markkur,
Ta for the advice but i tried that one already, am already running as an administrator and thought that the silly security settings may be the problem but alas even turning them off totally does nothing to stop the save error.

I'm at a loss. Since wordpad and notepad are involved in this, I would try Microsoft's Tech support for Vista surrounding the 'save' issue with those programs and see what they say. Might be a waste of time but then again you may discover the conflict. Good Luck

I have a question
I remember at some point, you could type in a command to remove skills, because sometimes you're trying to go a certain path with a skill...and the level up won't give you the option to even ever get that(cause you can't pass on getting a skill level up)
And most of all, most inconveniently, even on some of the new ToF maps or HoF, there is not always a memory mentor, to get rid of the skills you never wanted.
Say if you wanted to get Howl of Terror, the absolute necromancer feat, but...you have to get very specific abilities, and when you levelup, sometimes it won't let you select these! You HAVE to select something else.
Rather frustrating, is there any way to use the console to remove skills?

Umm does anyone know what the whole ToE and HoF things are about on the cheats list for heroes 5 and how i can get those specific things?

Hi guys i have a problem, i succesfully activate the console in ToE, binded it in the F12 key, enter the code @AddHeroCreatures ("OrnellaNecro", 31,50) and it seems to work perfectly, however when i see the creatures in the army of Ornella, there are not 50 zombies!

cant activate console
hi i have a problem with the activate the console i follow all the steps and it dont wont to activate i have try on original and on hammer of fate but still no result cant you upload a file or so for the games from you where you manage to get console so we can just download it and replace with our so we can enjoy this to please

well if it say that when you try to replace the old one if so then save it on the desktop make sure it is the same name and save as all files else it will become a .txt then you drag it from desktop to the file and need to we on the admin account else it will denie your action

I have a mac and I am trying to go through and do the edits. I got the adding "setvar dev_console_password = schwinge-des-todes" to the right spot but the "bind show_console '`'" I added it to the input.cfg file and still cant get the counsel to open. What else could I try?I know it says there are 2 files called input.cfg, but I can only find one on my computer.. ideas?

For Mac Users : you can access the "input.cfg" through the terminal.
Open a terminal. Go to the following location :
/Users/your_user/Library/Preferences/Heroes of Might and Magic V Preferences/p_drive/My Documents/My Games/Heroes of Might and Magic V/Profiles/your_profile
type the following command to open input.cfg via TextEditor : open -e input.cfg
When the console is open, type :
enable_cheats
then
add_money
it works for HOMM5 v1.4

I can't seem to find out how to get the "Ultimate Gating" skill in the cheat guide. It's needed to beat one of the custom games, but I can't seem to get the skill no matter what I do.
Help?

Hi! Talking about the cheat code, most the codes are working, include @Win() and @Loose(); except @ClearFog () and @Dragons ().

autoexec.cfg file
My problem is that I'm on a mac and I cannot seem to find the autoexec.cfg file let alone paste "setvar dev_console_password = schwinge-des-todes" into it! Looked everywhere doesn't seem to exist.
