Poetry?
Is it just me, or is there really no place on this whole site to post poetry?
I, for one, am a huge fan of the written word. My interest in poetry originated from the love of literature, and expressing feelings in verse is one of my favorite hobbies.
I have no idea if anyone else on this site feels the way I do, but this topic shall be opened! *cuts ribbon* All forms of poetry will be welcomed here, be it acrostic, free verse, ode or sonnet. And, since I started the thread, I'll bite and post the first poem. I favor freeverse myself, which is, by definition
Quote: Verse composed of variable, usually unrhymed lines having no fixed metrical pattern. While free verse does not rely on the conventional use of meter or rhyme, at the core its words flow in an irregular rhythmic cadence. Subject matter, effect, and tone vary greatly across the style.
Anyway, if you're interested in other forms of poetry, I recommend this site. It has some halfway decent information on a few forms of poetry.
But I was going to post one of mine, wasn't I? Whatever. Here we go:
Christmas is that time of year
It's just another holiday,
except the malls are twice as bad.
"Christmas spirit" is all around
(whatever that means, these
days).
Yes, dance your night away,
the snow as your ballroom,
the skiis as your dancer,
the night air whispering in front
as your lover's breath (now?)
Take your wishes and thanks
(the ones left over
from Thanksgiving), spend them
on your new year, with promises
for sprinkles.
Maybe it's just a holiday
but it's supposedly
family time, and if you can't
choose your family,
you can choose the insane asylum
you send them to.
If I posted this in the wrong place (i.e. if I should have retired it to the Volcanic Wastelands...) I apologize.

I'm going to post my wonderful hate poem.
Be very thankful you don't know this girl...
Her hair is like a mushroom cloud,
Her teeth look like grave stones.
She carries so much extra weight,
You can't tell she has bones.
She's nasty to her enemies,
fake sweet-ish to her friends.
The only thing going for her
Is her dad's mercedes benz.
The feelings that are felt towards her,
are anger, malice, hate.
Some people call her stupid,
But most just call her, "Kate."
I also have an idea for this poetry thing. Please don't put down or "critic" people's poetry. Meryl tried doing that to me, and I got pissed.

That's only because you knew that I was right, and you were grammatically incorrect.
And I do know her. She sucks. Shall I post my juvenile little hate poem too? Yes I shall..
Satan's Son
Checkerboard my pinstipes,
and leave me blank and lost.
All I've got to say to you
is choke on car exhaust.
A little monoxide
Never hurt a soul
So take your extra baggage
and your hairy moles.
I'm sorry, Kate,
I'd like to be your friend
It's just not gonna happen,
you're so pathetically pretend.
All right, let's wrap it up just now
this sordid little poem
the point is, Kate, I think you suck
SO GET RUN OVER BY A TRUCK.
Hehe. See, poetry = fun = anger management = creative put-downs that you can recite to people's faces.

Poetry is like a warmth in your heart.
You write the truth & speak what you say.
Sitting on the hill thinking with a mind so sharp.
Meditating with a flow like a wind seeping through your body.
Like a chill deep withing your spine.
You just type & forget what was actually on your mind.
COnsis you are one of the beautiful people.

The title to the poem thread, cheshire, is misspelled (i.e.- Pomes that discribe you!!)... It's not exactly conducive to grammatically correct verse...
It's exactly like it always is
rain(ing) on a dry parade,
just as uninvited as you seem.
