1. Sylvan, it seams there is always dancing elves in here.
2. Dungeon, the more quiet.
3. Academy.
4. Haven, too classic.
5. Inferno, I know there are not orcs but there are so offensive that I would hear war drums.
6. Necropolis. Not my style.

yup Seems much more "detailed" and moving than the others. Haven theme is fun for the 30sec dynamic part, but otherwise it's nothing spectacular. Dungeon theme is very, very, EXTREMALLY simple, same for inferno (which isn't really a music theme, to be honest, just a nice background).
Academy theme rox.
ratmonky, dunno if this is legal, but here

I agree with the fast-paced opinion about academy, it really reminds me of Tower back in H3, the tower theme was great , i always listened to it at least once each turn...
The music in H5 was actually rather disappointing, it was far from H3, or any of the Might and Magic series.... looks like 3DO makes better music ...
The Haven music really isn't much special, the choir effects aren't exactly done too well, but nevertheless, it's not that bad.
Sylvan is good, and academy as well.
Necro was yuck... H3 necro theme was the best and the stronghold and fortress were good too! In fact, all the H3 town themes were good, (except that i didn't really like dungeon and rampart).
Battle themes in H5 lack the force of the drums... lacks the flute to sustain a melody as well...

I like Haven the best because it is perfect for the town.
Probably my favorite is the Stronghold in H3 even though it didn't fit the town.

Tower theme in H3 was not fast-paced. It was very soft, and gradually crescendoes into a grand symphony, as did HII's Wizard castle. HV's Academy reflects an evoulution in theme, as Tower is now in the sky (literally a cloud castle), and thus, the music's tempo is hastened

Negative. The same composers from the other Heroes games made the music for HV.

Choir? You mean the soloist, right? Funny, as Haven's theme is dynamically similar to HIII's Tower.

I personally liked HIV's Necro the best, then HII's (before the exp). RAMPART'S HIII THEME WAS AWESOME!!!
Quote: Battle themes in H5 lack the force of the drums... lacks the flute to sustain a melody as well...
This is the only point where I agree. There was something about those battle drums that were special

Inferno in my opinion has really good music!Very good in fact,it is just so compatible with the tower like, molten lava falling, nightmare of the world castle!
Haven has also goodd music, which represents good, order and courage. It is what haven or castle have always represented!
Necropolis music seemes to be not so good, but in rest every castle has excellent music(with sylvan on 3rd place).

well the 1 thing what i receive in h5 music is that this music is not so melodious like music from other # of heroes but more rhytmical especialy music from maps (terrain-dirt mostly but others too underground)
i hawe really big sentiment to music from previous # of heroes (especialy from h2 grass music ) and i like it definitely more but if goes to practise i hawe suspect thats the music from h5 could be more practicable thenn from older heroes becouse if we gona play this game some few years (like in the later versions) listening all tthis time same music could make this music too boring even if it's a really god music
well comming back to topic my favour music from h5 is from sylvan battles (and siege's)
sorry bout my poor english

the violin had very fast ornamentals back in H3... it speeds the whole song up...(about half way thru or 3/4 thru the song)

uh....not with might and magic... might and magic had different composers to HOMM composers...

yes, but it lacks "passion", and "colour", and "flavour", musicians should know...

the ending of HIII's necro was the best! ... rampart H3's theme was slightly ruined because they overdid the harp... it was too loud... oh well, each to his tastes of music

It's those drums that tell u it's war, quick drum beats increase your heartrate, gives a slight adrenaline boost as well

Well in HV I think Sylvan Indian theme is the best, like "tootoo nananananana tootoo" etc. but the best in-game music I've ever seen was in heroes III. All themes there were cool. Got boring after a while, though, so I just went into the mp3 folder and changed them all to various rock songs (Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven for Castle; AC/DC - Highway to Hell for Inferno; Iron Maiden - Children of the Damned for Necropolis; AC/DC - Thunderstruck for Tower; AC/DC - Jailbreak for Dungeon etc.) Needless to say I like AC/DC

It's kinda difficult to decide, so I'll just split it up into categories:
Best town theme: Academy, though Haven is a close second thanks to the opera(dunno why, it just sounds good)
Best battle theme: Necropolis(I just like how it sounds like Haven's evil counterpart)
Best siege theme: Inferno, with Necropolis at a pretty close second(most likely because of the last battles in the campaign)

tsabu,
I have to agree that the music in HV is more rhytmical than HII and HIII's music (I actually think that HIV had rhytmical music too), and judging from the poll results, Sylvan's music is really popular. I think out of all the other themes, it really captures the ambiance of the race.
hobowu,
-I have reconsidered my opinion about Tower's music in HIII and I do have to agree. The violins do force the tempo to accelerate. I still think that HV and HIII are very different, though.
-I've never played vanilla M&M. Only Heroes of M&M.
-I don't know how much more passionate the soloist in Haven's theme could be. Sounds like she's investing quite a bit of emotion in her voice. No, it's not the same "flavor" from HIV's terrain voice (and a beautiful voice that was, I'm sure that woman is a fox), but the majestic theme is inescapable. You can really tell that Haven is a medevial-themed castle by the music alone, which is why it (and Sylvan and its forest theme) is popular.
-I agree with your taste in Necropolis from HIII's ending. Actually, I wish that the ending was the melody for the entire theme. Necropolis's theme in HIII does not even get good until 3/5 of the song, right before the ending (when the majority of the insturnments cut off, leaving just the chorus and that Addams Family synthesicized piano.
Harp? In Rampart? It played a minimal role. You must be confusing the harp with the French Horn, which is very obtrusive; but what really drives the music home is the ensemble of woodwinds towards the end.
-Yeah, I think the best "war drums" are from the Warcraft Orcs. Now that's the drums of war!
Tunaria,
I can't really remember any of the battle seige themes besides Sylvan.
A lot of this has to do with A) not playing the game for a month (disgusted by the AI) B) Sylvan's theme is awesome and very memorable C) I just plain don't remember.
But I will be checking them out.

Fortress music
Wich I could add the Dwarves' music in this poll. Not that it would matter. It's not that much better than inferno.
