Poll Question: Dark elves VS Harpy & co
Most of the fractions have had some changes now in H5.
But the Warlock's have had the biggest change (in my opinion)
where the weird and wonderful creatures, namely the trogs, the harpies and the beholders have been booted out, in favor of the dark elves.
Are the dark elves better?
or do you prefer the Harpies & co from H3?

I don't know about better or worse, but I enjoy playing the new warlocks. I didn't think I would, but after I played the Warlock campaign, I grew to like them a lot.

Well, seeing as both games take place in entirely different world, and have many different gameplay mechanics (mainly initiative), it's almost impossible to compare them game wise.
Some people will like the Dark Elves, others won't; that's perfectly fine. Then there are some people who don't care about the race and just play it as it was meant to be: the Dungeon.

Well, the only truly-signature dungeon unit is the black dragon (minotaur too, maybe) - the rest may vary throughout the series.
I like the dark elves.

Dark Elves are probably the most interesting faction to play. The creature lineup is however not so varied as it was before. I liked Beholders and Medusas... But I am hoping for Medusas in the expansion town, the Dwarwes could have easily recruited the stone-gazing Medusa for their stone-made homes
Anyways I truly love playing Dark Elves, as I have always liked the theme in R.A.Salvatores books.

Dungeon/Warlock has always had three flyers but they only have one flyer in Heroes 5. Plus the Dark Elves are way too uninspired.

dark elves here...
but I think both Harpies and Medusae could be in... perhaps Harpies as an upgrade of the Blood Maidens (more so in a Shi'ar kinda way than actual Harpies though) ...and perhaps the Medusae as a stoning ability for the Shadow Matriarchs (and maybe with the snake hair too)
you know kids, there is a reason you should not play with magic... weird stuff happens to you

I voted for Dark Elves, in HOMM 5 they are great in magic but also have great monsters like "Indestructible" Hydra and old good Black Dragon so i gave my vote to them. In HOMM 3 i liked best Rampart and Necropolis, and to me worst are Fortress and Dungeon couse of bad low lvl. creatures, i mean not all is in high lvl. creatures.

In any fantasy game, I've always loved playing the dark elves, and I still do in H5. My only problem is the way they stole the harpies job and booted out the trogs, beholders, medusas and manicores.
I think I would have prefered the dark elves to have been seperate, from the warlocks. They could have replaced the minator with some kind of stone elemental (since dark elves are always underground), and the black dragon with some kind of giant arnachind (Most dark elves in other games are associated with spiders) and then the dark elves could have been another fraction.

New warlocks are more boring than the other ones.i enjoy playing dungeon more often now with these new units but can't seem to replenish the adrenaline while playing with the one from heroes 3 were only and ONLY true horryfying beasts and monsters could be found and recruited! Now we have:
Level 1:scout/assasin
Level 2:Blood maiden/Blod fury
minotaurs have been mocked by Nival
Level 4ark rider/Grim rider
Level 6:Shadow b/w itch/Shadow matriarch
Hydras remain usefull creatures but have deteriorated from level 7 in last two heroes games to level 5! Mallasa's magic and secrets are powerfull, mystic and amazing....yes I agree!Though letting those witches occupate level 6 instead of hydra doesn't seem right, although it's balanced.
Still both dungeons remain though, magic made, cruel, misterious and strong."DUNGEON" represents these caracteristics!!

Dungeon is very interesting town in Heroes 5, but isn't totally new.
There is 3 dungeon units from previous HOMM games: Black Dragon(1,2,3,4), Minotaur(1,2,3,4) and Hydra(1,2,4). Also Blood Maidens/Furies and Harpy/Harpy Hags(3) are the same units, only their look is different.

Too true! In the travesty that was HOMM4, they were reduced to level 2, and even in HOMM5 they are only level 3. Minotaurs should be at least level 5!
