Cheating
At this point I've only played 5 games in TOH and in reading through the hall of shame I was wondering if any one can tell me some of the ways to spot if a player is cheating against you? Any comments would be appreciated.

well, alot easy ways to tell only come from experince of playing alot, you know what is and isnt possible on what maps.
The main way is to save every day or every week.

True play often and learn maps well. During the game make alot of saves that is the only way to prove it. Also check for things like artifacts that are not allowed on that map. Tombs angel wings ect.
You will figure it out and cheaters will always get caught sooner or later.

Maxila...don't go into the game with a negative attittude though, for every cheater out there, there are 10 honorable players. Saves and all of that are fine and they work if you save often enough, but if you play the right ppl, you wont need to

A good way to avoid most forms of cheating is to host the game yourself.

Also if their name is on the hall of shame, that is also a clue they are cheating against you ;-)
If they say "Hey do you mind if we play this on Battlenet?"...That might also be a sign.
If they have a name with LeTtErS lIkE tHiS then that may also be a sign.
If the room at the zone says "no dip,no log,no 4th,dw,2 min" then you will certainly be cheated of a quality game.
If they are in the zone saying "EVERYONE WHO IS NOT AFRAID COME TO GAME 14" or something obnoxious over and over again than they are 15 and not always a cheater but certainly obnoxious so beware.
If they are from Russia then they probably know Antal :-)
If they run past a Tower and take a Necropolis and build the guild all the way up then they have ESP :-)
If they have 1300 gremlins at your door on day4 then you need to update =)
Have fun and don't worry about cheaters. They always get caught eventually.

I agree with all of ya...cheatin` sux and i fear when i`ll play online a @#$!! cheater will rip my skin off ....
Anyway it would be fun to kill a cheater(i mean beatin` him at homm)!!!

Well day one saves allways catch map editors, but actually u cant protect urself from droppers, people who looks at saves etc. Just remember that most people play this game for fun, so beware not to become paranoid 
Btw. Last season I beat a cheater, and after the game I mailed to Honor council, they booted him Look under Sephinroth on HOS

I agree cheating sucks, though I have never cought a cheater. (To my knowledge I haven`t met one and will not meet one either(?))
I just have a question top Mocara. Why do you believe LeTtErS lIkE tHiS indicate a cheater?
Otherwise Mocara has some interesting thoughts I liked the comment of the person beeing in HoS indicating a cheater - lol.

That almost true except:
1) If u play as main Necro and looking for animate. Chances get it in Necro higher. And then u build it up because it is easy to finish.
2) If u play blue and the opposite chain attack can be directed on that tower. I know at least one map, where I never build magic in that town even if it is tower.
3) U main town is tower and u plan to finish game on 15 days.
One more thing to determine cheaters. If the opponent turn time take to long, save immediately opponent turn, and than ask what is going on(expect answer immediately if opponent in battle - good sign for non cheat). After game check that save (only heroes position valid) and saves two days around for army distribution.

Vlad don't get offended by the Antal joke.
All these comments were tongue in cheek and I know Russians generally do not get sarcastic humor in english as I would not get Russian humor either.
As FoR NaMeS LiKe ThIs...again a joke but that is always a sign of some 15 year old and generally they are the ones who will cheat so blatantly that it is laughable.
Not saying all young people cheat at all. I have great respect for RedsTorment, BlackMagikDuck and many other teen players.
This thread was silly in the beginning and I was just being humorous.

With u that cheating sux but i'm 17 years old and i didn't cheat i think so ¶:Þ why do ya jump to the comclusion that young people cheat and cheating has many faces like droping editing and stuff and as for the names look at Elite's name and some Russian guys are not half bad like buck and oldboshevik
