Oooyy, I guess I never really recovered from being sick. :/ All this running around made the fever come back, and I had been sleeping the days away. Just as well, since the crazy rain flooded many of the streets, and my camera ran out of batteries while visiting the family, so not too many pictures. Smart me didn't bring the charger.
Here's dinner the first night.
This is what we call Hot Pot. It's a big pot of boiling soup (left side spicy, right side now) and you put thinly sliced meat in there. It cooks in seconds. Very fun. ^_^
And that's about it. I got some pictures of the flood, too.
People have to get out of their cars to push them down the streets.
My mom took me to get pictures again. The first set is still being processed, but one of her old coworkers is the manager of some other studio so we get a special discount. They took 62 pictures, and our package lets us keep 11. But I guess the photographer really liked the pictures, so he made me sign this contract that if I give him the right to use my pictures in newpapers/magazines or in the store, then I can keep all the pictures. I guess it was a pretty good deal. Everything for the equivalent of about 35 dollars.
I'm going to Shen Zhen (next to Hong Kong) to see my dad on Friday afternoon, so I'm gonna be gone for a few days again. See you all later. ^_^

Hello from Shen Zhen! ^_^
We're visiting my dad till the coming Tuesday. The hotels here are so nice! My dad stays here every time he's on a business trip, so people here all know him by name now. I took a picture of the chandelier because it's so shinyful.
The next morning, we went to get breakfast at the restaurant downstairs. It's what we call Dim Sum. They usually put all the food onto little carts and the waiters push them around, but here, they just put them on the table. Just as well.
Soups.
Meat and Veggies made to order.
Steamed buns, rice cakes, and other random carbs.
Desserts. They have mango pudding, watermelon pudding, coconut something something, fruit tarts, and other random stuff.
Look at the steam coming out of the flower pot like thing!
I thought the fruit tart was pretty. ^_^
Then we went to walk around. There was a plaza near where all the foreigners lived, and here's all the American stuff that have made it to China. In this order:
I've also seen Taco Bell and Dominoes, but not here.
And after that, we went near the ocean. No one brought a swimsuit, so we all just walked around. Then we saw people parasailing, and it looked fun, so my parents suggested that I give it a try, too.
Getting strapped in.
Those bruises on my legs are the remains of some of my mosquito bites.
Can't see too well, but that's me. Cool, huh??

Yeah, I'd hate to have to visit all those beaches, stay in a nice hotel, eat tons of tasty food, and go parasailing. Totally un-cool.

Quote: your trip back to China? or just 'to' China.that is interesting, maybe other resorts like Guilin and YUN'Nan are clearer
Back to China is more appropriate, I guess.
We went to the Pearl Sea today. I'm not sure if that's what it's officially called, but that's the translation. I'd look it up on Wikipedia if it wasn't blocked here...
First, we went an area called Sight Mountain (again, not sure of its official name ). We took little chairlifts up to top of the mountain to see the city and other stuff.
And then afterwards, you can ride the chairlifts back down, or go on this makeshift rollercoaster.
You have "breaks" at the side of each cart to control your speed. Its speed is between normal roller coasters and kiddy kinds. Sounds dangerous, doesn't it?
This is just a mountain.
Curvy roads. Rather difficult to drive there, I bet.
This is the Sea King. There's a legend about his daughter coming to this city (once village). I got some pictures of that later.
Island in the ocean and some roads.
This is the city. It used to be a fisherman's village.
They had the 12 zodiacs at the top of the mountain, but we were running short on time, so I just snapped the ones at the bottom of the stairs. The bull was one of the three. Yay, Taurus.
This is the Wishing Stone/Rock. I didn't get a chance to read about it before we had to go.
This is the Sea King's daughter, at the bottom of the mountain. She's holding a pearl in her hands. Let's see if I can loosely translate this legend.
The Sea King's youngest daughter has always loved the human world. She ran away from home one today and resurfaced at the fisherman's village. (I don't know why she is not in mermaid form. ) She met a young man there and they fell in love, and they decided to get married. There was a custom in the village that the lady must give her man a personal possession to seal their love (not sure if I hear this part correctly). One of the other villagers, who was jealous of the young man, found out that the girl was the Sea King's daughter and suggested the young man to ask for one of the bracelets the girl was wearing. When she tried to explain to her fiancé that the bracelets were linked to her life and placed on her by her father's guardians, he didn't believe her. To prove this and her love, she gave one to him and died in his arms. The young man regretted his actions and cried for three days and three nights. Some other divine being was moved by their love and she gave him a magical something something and revived the girl. Happy ending. They get married. One day, when the girl was walking along the beach, she found a beautiful pearl and decided to give it to her man to show her gratitude.
Not that great of a story, but it's interesting.
Then we went on this mini cruise like ship to see AoMen (Macau?). Again, I'd check wikipedia for the official name, but it's blocked. It's the place that was occupied by Portugal for 50 years.
That's the ship. It includes no food or drinks. Just a 1.5 hour trip there and back.
The rest of the pictures are taken behind a somewhat dirty window, so they're not too clear.
This is one of the casinos there. I guess the place is famous for casinos.
This is Guan Yin Pu Sa, a famous mythical deity in Chinese mythology, I guess. This is a statue of her.
A famous church built by the Portuguese.
FFVIII, anyone? It's just a bridge, but the resemblance to the Esthar/FH railroad...
This is really cool. The water is actually 2 colors. It divides itself perfectly in two and the colors are distinctly different. Something about the currents. Not sure.
And that's it for now. ^_^

Didn’t go anywhere special yesterday, so I mainly just took pictures of food. One thing I did find, though, was a Taco Bell.
Another thing I discovered was Pineapple Beer.
This stuff is delicious. The only reason I can drink it probably because it only contains 1.2% alcohol.
We went to a buffet at the ground floor of the hotel for dinner.
I like meat.
Yay, more meat.
Even more meat.
And sushi! ^_^
And more sushi!
This place had the prettiest desserts, but I only managed to take one before the guy told me I wasn’t allowed to take pictures.
I was so mad that I took them one by one back to our table and took pictures there. And then ate them all afterwards.
Of course, it was much prettier before that awful cutting job.
I <3 Tiramisu. ^_^
I <3 Tiramisu x2. ^_^_^
Coconut Cake with fruit.
Coffee cake with nuts and fudge. ^_^
Green Tea cake with kiwi.
There were still 6 or 7 more cakes left, but by this time, no one could eat any more.

I swear she must have a tape worm or something in her. How on earth can one person chow down that much food...and most of it was desserts.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! If I suddenly stop posting pictures, there's a good chance that this is what happened.
Okay, I'm back in Beijing again. We went to Bei Hai last night. Very beautiful at night.
As we were walking around, I saw this:
I don't know if it was intentional or not... but I cracked up like mad.
These are made from sugar! Not sure how it works, but you blow into it and mold it at the same time into whatever you want.
These are some of the things he made.
I can't resist shinies.
Pretty lanterns.
This is the "Bar Street." Sort of self explanatory.
I swear this girl is like 5 years old. She's playing the traditional Chinese instrument called Gu Zheng, and she seriously sounds like a professional.
So my camera doesn't like taking pictures at night. It turned out kind of pretty, though. Whatever it was supposed to be.
This one turned out well.
This is a pavilion by the water. Very pretty with the lights, but the camera couldn't handle it. So this is the best I got.
Video here
That's a short video that kind of captures what it looks like. I bet there's some way to rotate the thing. But I don't know how.
Another Video here
This one is what the street looks like. Slightly longer.

Okay, last post from China. My flight is 9AM tomorrow morning, which means we'll have to get up at 5.
I went to see my old co-workers at GM China yesterday. The department took me out to lunch and we had Peking Duck. Forgot camera, no pictures.
Then afterwards, my mom's friends took us to a spa. Never been to one before. Quite an experience. It was a little embarrassing at first, but it went away. Sorry, no pictures for this either.
And today, I packed. That's all. Yay...
Well, that's all from China. If you plan to visit, try to avoid doing it in the summer. It's freaking hot and humid. And finally, thank you all for reading. Bai bai!

Yay, home. Jetlag still sucks.
I checked some stuff. AoMen is both "Macau" and "Macao." The former is used more often and is what's printed on their money. And the white statue in the sea is apparently Matsu.
And apparently, KFC came to China before McDonald's.
I saw some interesting shirts at the airport. "Mikey and Minnie," and "Ms. Petty." Yay, Chinglish.
