Time Machine
I've found the original (?) Heroes Community on one of those "time machines" sites.
It looks... tiny.  The last 5 replies and 9 out of 10 "top discussions" were about Heroes, though.  One of the mods was Pluvious of Champions of Tymeria, the other Angelspit of CH... *sigh* The best thing is you can still browse some of the forums and threads!
Is there more stuff like that? 
P.S. "Valera's COOL HOMM2 Page" looked like this (although this page is still archived at AoH, I think).

WOW!!! I actually remember visiting "Valera's COOL HOMM2 Page" a long long time ago looking for some HOMM2 maps and strategies!!!
Btw, I am really surprised by "Necro vs Castle" thread. People had surprisingly good knowledge of HOMM3 tactics. Even though it was only 2001, people seemed to know more about HOMM3 strategy than most of the current HC members!!!

Inspired by "First Impressions" thread, I found the Tavern a little over a month after I joined. Let's see: QPs are a topic of discussion. There are goofy, throw-away threads. There are serious conversations. There are threads about sexy people and men/women relations. There are games. Oh, yes, and Aculias is resigning.
