omg, lets wait for an offical rmg huh? not some piece a junk from some half baked mod. h3 rmg alrdy was bugged to hell, was hoping nival/ubi would do a better job, if they ever make one, but then 99% of heros community was hoping they would do a better job on main game also :/

oops:)
Well, the editor works fine
I created a 3 player map.
I had to give it some time to create it. It takes like a good 7 minutes on my computer. Athlon XP 2800
But seems nice

Thumbs Up!
Well,
Bobby and I are atually in our week 2
Looks good. Although at this point, cant have under, nor water. But looks well-balanced.
Also, both players in game must have the Random Map generator properly installed for it to work.
Secondly, once map is created , the 2 associated files in the newly created S6 directory must be sent to opponent.

a bit off topic but of interest, i also saw this on the website you showed
Quote: Heroes of Might and Magic 5: First Official Addon
It will include the Dwarves, who will have exclusive access to brand-new "runic magic", which will be significantly different from traditional Heroes magic - for example, casting it will require resources instead of mana.

I downloaded the manuals and map editor and will give it a go tonight when I get home from work.
While im at work I will read the whole manual and try to learn the map editor
If all goes well Ill post a new map here in a few days.. I think for the first map I will create something new and just become familiar with the editor before getting into remaking maps, etc.

There are several issues with the (beta?) map editor that people needs to be aware of:
- The fill function does not seem to be undoable - you cannot mark any of the created objects, not by block-marking the whole are nor do they appear in the list of objects. Keeping several saves (as suggested in the manual) is a good idea.
- Objects placed by the fill tool does not block hero movement! It is possible to walk right through the thick forest you just created... Use the mask tool after using the fill tool in order to block the movement.
- Some rotations of objects cause graphics errors, like tiles that 'do not exist' (are just black) etc. Dragon Utopias for instance seem to be sensitive for this.
- The number of monsters actually present in the game depends on the level of game chosen, on normal the monster count seems to be as specified in the editor - on heroic the number of monsters are about 50% more.
- Also the advice in the manual about outlining the map before filling in the details is good. Once half of the map is done to full detail, it is not possible to zoom out too much to get an overview (because of a high polygon count?)
If anyone is interested in beta-testing a map I made (very big, heads-up, even starts), you can download http://129.16.225.87/heroes/A_Dance_For_Two.pak
and place it in your Data directory.
(I'll post more detailed about that map in the mapmakers forum when I am allowed to do so - apparantly I need to post more of these semi-nonsense posts first..)

I had problems with the fill function.. in fact when I did it movement was blocked for all the filled areas, and it was a pain in the butt to delete.. so it is undoable, but u have to constantly click and delete to clear it out.
Other than that and the other bugs you mentioned the editor isn't too bad. I see lots of new maps coming soon.

You are right that it works for some fill patterns. When your clicking approach works, it is easier to just block mark the area instead to mark every object one by one. (Select an empty square and drag out a selection rectangle by keeping your mouse button pressed).
What I rather ment was that for some patterns, you can not select any of the newly placed objects (like the dirt tree pattern). Or maybe that happens in just my editor :-)
