Drakon's Hints and Tips for H3

I play heroes3 AB with my father. We usually play a random map on Expert difficulty, and it's me and him as allies vs.the AI that are also allied.Do u wanna know a few helpful tips? If u play on hotseat with someone and start a random large or a medium map,try to follow these easy steps:
1.Human or computer players-2
2.computer only players-your choice
3human or computer teams-1
4.computer teams-1
Why am I suggesting this? Because [ONLY if there's no neutral town on the map] you and the AI will have only one town each because you can't attack your allies.Works better if you're playing on hard, but prefferably on expert difficulty.
And another tip:Recruit as many heroes as you can on large or on extra large maps, who knows, you'll need them some day.For instance if you get a hero from the tavern that has a useful lvl1 spell in his spellbook that you don't have in your mage guild, then you need a scholar. And remember: buy the heroes that give you a small amount of gold every day,and the ones with the Estates skill. And that goes double for the ones that bring you 1 crystal[like Sephinroth], 1 sulfur[like Calid], one mercury[like Rissa],and 1 gem[like Saurug] per day.
If u play with the Conflux and buy a hero that has a powerfull spell in his spellbook and can cast it with increased effect, then build the Magic University and teach him the required elemental magic for extra power[exeemer,Earth Magic].Remember the elemental magic,**** the new magic from h5![excuse me mods].I'm the Necropolis type,so there ya go,some more tips:
I play with Vokial, because of his specialty in vampires, but if u want more skeletons try Isra or Vidomina as ur main hero.
Keep ur skeletons in the town when playing on Expert or impossible, because evry scout you catch can cast a decent magic arrow or an ice bolt at your skeletons before retreating.Every skeleton u earn due to ur necromancy,STOCK THEM IN UR TOWN!Once your skeletons are really numerous[1000 or more] unleash them upon your enemies!
If you're looking for good defense, buy Moandor, and keep him in the garrison with all of your liches, along with the skeletons and no one will dare to approach your Necropolis.Build the Necromancy Amplifier, the Cover of Darkness, the Sketon Transformer and the Unearthed Graves quickly if u wanna be the #1 Necromancer.are u worried that without the liches ur offensive is really dead? Don't worry. The immortal vampires that appear as charming young men in the movies, suck the life out of every living creature[even Dendroids that don't have blood].The Dread Knights deal the devastating double damage ocassionally. The Wraiths are good for drainig spell points. The Zombies slow you down but they're effective in large numbers.Let's face it Death Knight, the living Dragons will chew the bones of your Bone Dragons,so put them in ur army only if u have minimum five.
If you're not sure that you'll get the Slow spell when u build ur mage guild lvl 1,then choose Moandor as ur starting hero.He always comes with a spell book with the Slow spell.Moandor is one of the best heroes if ur playing the scenario Heroes of Might and Magic, not Magic, available in SoD.The scenario description will tell you that the map is not playable, but it is.I've played it myself.Because only the Might heroes are available, and because the Mage Guilds have no spells in them, the Map Editor labeled the map as unplayable.
If you played SoD and now you're playing AB,then u must know that the composed artifacts available only in the SoD campaigns can be composed as well on scenarios. What's the matter? You enjoy the benefits of the composed artifacts but u miss the Conflux? No problem.Just do as I say:
Install h3RoE and AB [in the same folder of course].Then install SoD in the same folder, and what do you get? A h3 SoD with composed artifacts, with the Conflux and the Random Map Generator!
If ur a necro don't waste ur time learning Water Magic if there is no water on the map, because Bless and Prayer don't work on the Undead.Blind doesn't work on the undead[I mean, they don't have real eyes anymore].Now leaving the necro tips section!
Diplomacy and Leadership make a good pair, and heroes like Adela and Ryland can prove it!
If ur not a Warlock, and if ur knowledge is low, then learn the Intelligence skill!
Lvl 3 spells seem useless to me.Unless.....ur undead and learn animate dead,or unless ur the Fire Magic expert and learn berserk.Anti-Magic is also a good lvl3 spell.
Beware when fighting the Rampart! The Pegasus makes u spend extra spell points when casting spells, the Dendeoids can bind in one place for a looong time because they're pretty hardy! If ur not immune to blinding, then watch out for the unicorns!
If u want some more tips[ex:ideal heroes in certain situations] then feel free to post a reply.

Nuce to see your love for Heroes 3, and it sounds like you and your father are having lots of fun.

But you have much to learn, young padawan.

My father is the Jedi Necromancer and my uncle is the Jedi Knight.
My cousin is the Elven Princess,my aunt is the evil female Warlock[second only to Sephinroth].We all play using TCP/IP [on different computers of course] with our Greek neighbor, the  Emperor of the Greek Ramparts. As for me,I was called by the Conflux.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And now back to Drakon's Hints and Tips.
I've seen many "Which h3 spell is the best" threads .And now another veteran's tale:
The troops of the Conflux led by me captured a neutral Dungeon town, after ending the campaign against my cousin who found a castle in the underworld and refugeed there after we captured her main town.My uncle was upset because the Greek Rampart Empire defeated many of his Knight generals,so he launched an attack upon a Dungeon town with all of his army, led by his #1 genral,Sir Orrin.Meanwhile,my #1 general,Labetha, captured one of his three fully built Knight Castles. And then we used Dimension Door in order to attack his other towns, defended by Cuthbert and Ingham who had decent armies but weren't skilled . Meanwhile my #2 General,Inteus, armed with a scroll of Armageddon and lots of Fire Elementals[immmune to fire of course] attacked the wooden towns of the Greek Rampart Empire. And so,the Conflux won this random map!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
-And so,a new answer to a old question.[that wasn't just an invented story,it really happened].Dimension Door is the best lvl 5 spell.
-Another leson: Never let anger consume you or you might end up like my uncle.
-In the endgame, your main army always must be around to defend ur towns against enemies that use Fly or Dimension Door.
-The Fire Elementals+Armageddon combo is a devastating one.Remember my words, fellow heroes who felt the call of the Conflux!
Alright, #1 hero, admit it,you've suffered defeat more than once! Another veteran's tale:
My Conflux kinkdom was bordered to the north by the Knight Kigdom ruled by my uncle. He was very powerful, and was always asking for resources in exchange for "protection".We couldn't stand it and attacked him and suffered defeat. Why was he so powerful?
Answer: In the early game,he visited all creature banks and so his power grew.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I will share my wisdom with any hero that posts a reply and who asks or doesn't ask for advice, because this is a C-O-M-M-U-N-I-T-Y!
So all u h3 noobs, stop posting threads where ur asking for help! Ask good ol' Drakon-Deus!
Everyone, feel free to visit Drakon's Hints and Tips[noobs welcome]!

As Xarfax already posted, Drakon. Nice to share your point of view here, but to be a real challenge for an online player, u have to learn some more basics. Your strategy will work vs AI and vs other human offline players, but will fail badly vs so called "veterans".

Just try to play with some guys from here via TCP/IP.

And we are not talking about Dimension Door or fly, coz this has not much to do with "strategy". A 5 year old girl can jump around with a hero and collect all arties without a fight. Or getting expert diplomacy and wipe out all other troops.
Try to play without DD, Fly and Diplo. That's the point where the challenge starts....

nice of u and xarfax to remind me that I still have a lot to learn. My noob exam was finishing all of the SoD campaigns. After that,I started to play the original campaigns[when I learned to play,AB was already made].Afer I'll finish the original ones I'll try the intermediare player exam with the AB campaigns. As for TCP/IP,my uncle and my father, along with the others I mentioned, are true veterans, they started playing HOMM since the beggining, sic h1: A Strategic Quest.
However,I AM a noob to the Internet,so please explain how can I play with "some guys from here via TCP/IP",please
By the way,my strategy is not what u think, because my father said that I should never share my strategy with the "enemy".He;s really a good man on the other side of the monitor, but on this side, playing Heroes III ,he's really a "never give-up" general

How about u try to replay all SoD campaigns, while u play every scenario on 200%?
Try to recieve Archangel rating on every campaign. When done, come back here and report

How to play online with other guys is explained in this thread.

How did you manage to get archangel on 200% "The Birth of the Barbarian"? I had to restart the whole scenario because I picked the wrong skills and even after I did reskill, it took me a few tries to finally finish the map where your starting army has to kill full fortress armies led by high level fortress heroes with big spells. I didn't even think about the rating on it

Hehehe, no wonder it has the lowest score I am really surprised they made the hardest scenario a prerequisite for the easiest scenario (Sandro's campaign). I quit in the middle of the Necromancer campaign because I just couldn't handle such a change in difficulty. Cleaning out with 2 stacks of 900 liches was ridiculous.

But to be honest, i still think "Hack & Slash" is the toughest campaign. Especially the 3rd mission. I can't remember how often i replayed this scenario......

For some reason I haven't had many problems with Hack&Slash. I guess I got lucky, but hack had a few expert magic schools (earth and air or water or even both) and some nice spells, so everything was pretty much a piece of cake. Well, come to think of it... all campaigns where I could use spells were relatively easy From what I remember, most Hack&Slash maps were filled with springs and towns to regenerate mana in.
Magic allows a strong hero to easily rush with just his/her starting army.

My problem in that 3rd mission was Thant.
I always met him week 2 with about 20 vamps, 70 wights and 150 skeletons...and animate dead with 70 spellpoints....
And week 2, u don't have much army on 200%...

Problem is, Hack is level-limited from the first 2 scenarios (level 8 or 10 if i remember correct).

I always try to rush them ASAP with magic arrow or lightning (or even bigger spells like that mass anti-undead spell, etc) on week 1. Most of the time one or more of their towns is defended very lightly and their main hero is away. On week 2 day 1 I buy their army and kick their ass. If the main hero is nearby, I use a decoy to lure him as far as I can (while exploring the map and collecting stuff).

Come to think of it... I think I should check my ratings, they might be low because I like visiting every powerup on the map with my main.
