I realy would like HOMM5 game to stay in slower gameplay. The situation that you are talking about remings me about Warcraft and Starcraft. HOMM was never like that and this game is not ment to be played so fast.
How painfully true. Now we don't have the option to play at a slow pace and just rush in difficult campaigns But with this AI we'd still have to build fast no matter what it would be designed for. Also now allowing armies to grow puts some factions at a disadvantage so we MUST rush.Disgusted as I am?

Not that bad like you Elvin but something close
For me HOMM was always a game to relax. It was always turn based and idealy suited for persons that don't want to rush at that time.
Don't get me wrong - I have played Counter Strike for 3 hours yesterday and it gives me good doze of adrenaline every time. But then I come back home, make a cup of tea and some snack... THEN I put on HOMM and enjoy it as it is

It's not like I can't live with that but I certainly dislike it when certain elements of a game change.Pace is one of them.As you say each game is to be played on different occasions and with a different mindset. No need to be on edge all the time!

Yes I also often don't like a pace of the game. For me it all boils down to living an early life on the edge, then smacking his main hero, and anticlimactic ending after that. Anyone has a proposal on how to improve pace of the game to be less about one unrecoverable blow?

Quote: So is it just coincidental that IMPs stand for I Must Perish? They were the favourite cannon fodders in H3. =p
Well even if it does stand for that they are infernos most valueable unit in 1.5 The best way to win with inferno is generally dark magic when your opponent cant do much about it beeing without or with very low mana.

You are right my friend. I always enjoyed a heroes game over a weekend in a hot seat game vs some friends. Over the years though (since HOMM 2 and 3) I have grown into a competative MP gamer. And the option not to be able to finish a game under about 2 hours is very frustrating for me above all when a exciting game can end because one player made a stuipid decision vs neutrals. I still enjoy those long games with my friends. But for a game to work out for me MP with ppl I dont know it must be faster. I thought that simulations turns would bring a faster game pace into heroes, didnt it say on the game box that simultanious turns were included? Well doesnt matter, its a great game it just doesnt fit my gaming needs atm. If I had simultanious turns and a game as fast as in patch 1.2 I would surely play this game still, now it has been standing on the shelf for the last month.
About time some developer brings a "new starcraft" along, beeing the best RTS ever in my opinion.

Yeach Stracraft has one very nice feature. Blizzard acutaly managed to make 3 factions that are complitely different but are all equaly balanced. That is the kind of achievment that probably no other strategy game reaced before and after.
But for me that "fast clicking" gameplay wasn't that I wanted so I played only with my friends. Traditional players - with no rushing and reaching the full potential of every unit. Which is not efective but very enjoyable.
And Izzachar you should make some friends on-line for MP playing (with saving). That way were will be no rushing and frustraton And the game will leave that shelf one day!
