Poll Question: Gelu or Dracon?
Hi everybody! I'm interested in one thing: Who do you like more? Dracon or Gelu?
I'm sure you know that Gelu can upgrade archers and marksmen, wood elves and grand elves into Sharpshooters. These creatures suffer from no penalty of ranges and obscatles. Very good when well-protected, as they have low HP and defense skill. They are one of the favourite targets of the AI. When you're with Gelu's native town, Rampart, you can have Sharpshooters in the first turn of the game, by building Homestead. They are somewhat cheap to upgrade. With different spells, you can make an incredibly strong unit from Sharpshooters. If you have Castle (town, not building), you can have archers in the 1st round, too, so they are easy to be gained. Very useful unit during siege, however you can be sure they will be hunted down by arrow towers. But with a large quantity and spells, Sharphooters can cause deadly destruction in your enemies' armies. The only one disadvantage in this is the loss of the ability to shoot twice.
Gelu is a might hero.
Dracon can upgrade monks, zealots, mages and archmages into Enchanters. These creatures have average defense skill and HP, and casts a beneficial or harmful spell on you or on your enemy in every 3rd round. This ability is extremely useful in some situations. Slow to Zombies or Dendroinds and Weakness to Ogres. Even Enchanters need protection, as the AI will commit everything to kill them. When you're with Tower, you can have them in the 4th turn. They are a bit expensive to upgrade, but it wortss doing it . One disadvantage is there in the upgrade: The unit loses the ability to reduce spell cost. With Castle town, you can have monks in the 4th or 5th round. With spells, Enchanters can mean painful treat to your enemies.
Dracon is a magic hero.
In conclusion, both of them have advantages and disadvantages, even compared with each other. The choice is yours, but with Castle town, you can provide additional creature supply for both.

Hard choice. Enchanters is best, but you get more sharpshooters. So I can't choose

Gelu rules all. He can easily own Dracon's puny enchanters. Sharpstooters are perfect ranged creatures of mass destruction.

I'll just repeat what I said in Your favourite H3 campaign hero thread:
1. Gelu! Sharpshooters are simply too good. I took dragon dwell on day 2 with them. The best part about sharpshooters is that even though the last dragon moraled, he didn't attack the sharpshooters because of their insane retal (it is insane despite the fact that it only does 1/2 damage)!!! He went for the fodder instead.
2. Drakon. He WOULD be better if the developers put a little bit of thought into him. WHY make him a Tower hero, but not make snow Enchanters' native terrain? Having 1/2 speed on the adventure map really nurfs Drakon.

Gelu is better. The sharpshooters have insane attack, dmg and speed.. not mentioning their special no range penalty... He gets better skills/stats than Dracon.. easy earth, log and tactics.
Dracon is also good, enchanter's special is pretty neat but I always had a hard time developing him properly. I had to restart the campaign several times to get the right skills for him. And those eyes... I don't trust him at all

Sharpshooters can do more damage than Enchanters with same Quantity while attacking enemy at maximum range. Without range penalty, they can do full damage against enemy's trooper behind the wall or enemy's shooter that usually stay in the back.
While Enchanters don't suffer melee penalty. They are more effective against enemy's trooper with extreme speed that usually go forward near our shooter and cause melee penalty. Also, their spellcasting ability is very helpful to defeat the enemy.
Both of them are very effective unit. If Dracon and Gelu not only campaign hero, Tower and Rampart will be the best Alignnment.
But, Sharpshooters are easier to be recruited. We only need Archers/Marksmen or Elves! They can be recruited at larger quantity and less price than Magi or Monks/Zealots.
So, if there is a campaign that ask me to choose Gelu or Dracon as the Quest hero, I'll choose Gelu!
Gelu rules!

If you remove certain heroes from Tower and Rampart, you will be able to use those heroes in your regular games. You can even use them in random maps. Generate a random map and disable 1-2 useless heroes (like eagle eye specialists).

Might over magic for me. I vould take Gelu before Dragon. Both are great heroes but if i remember correct Dracon is wizard and not an alchemist and i prefer might heroes before magic.
