I don't see why other small units would't work in that situation. Imps or something else. Am I missing something?

Well, the only possibly factor to count would be the Initiative. But since the units doesn't do anything except just stand there, and the Hero does all the work, I guess the important thing is having Sorcery and Dark Magic. And once again, this goes to show how crazy Puppet Master is. Hypnotize without restrictions ... who would have thought that.

The only reason why this works is because the first unit to reach the Cerberi doesn't kill the one in the corner, but the one next to it.
If the corner mob was killed instead, those Devils would have wiped some serious butt, hehe.
Nice show, though. Pretty amazing how you can actually use the size of your enemy in a defensive manner.

hehe, i was just joking! Of course it had nothing to do with them being Cerberus. It had a lot to do with a Demon Lord having more than 30 Spell Power

Of course it would work with any small units. Why I used Cerberus is just because I had those at that point, imps work too ofc.
And why 6?
Because it is easiest with two stacks and you want 3 in each stack to use gating if something goes wrong, and if you only have 1 unit in each stack you aren't guaranteed to get any creatures with gating.
In this particular case it would have been enough with just two instead of six.

You can always place your creatures in a way that they survive the intitial blow.

Hmm, that depends on Initiative. If all those Devils get to act before your units, and the first stack kills the one in the lower corner, then the second stack can stand right next to it and kill the other one. Of course, you can use Puppet Master before the Devil kills any stack, and then use it to shield your unit in the corner (but might not work, because Puppet Master lowers Initiative).

Don't see how gating would help if "something goes wrong" since the battle ends if all your real units die.
Someone else did a 3 Succ. Mist. vs. 147 Emeralds once.
I did 5 BFs vs. 4 stacks of 40 something squires each with a level 1 hero (no spells). Sounds easy but with 4 stacks that big, it's hard to keep running. If they were any bigger, I doubt I'd win.

actually, if you have no spells, no artifacts, and 100 blackies, and you attack 1 neutral ghost, you might lose even if you play the best possible moves every round.
if you load a LOT of times.
maybe something like 9^9^9 times. but it finally WILL happen.
i just hate that MISSED! stuff. minotaus' block in h4 wasnt nearly as irritating. maybe because it didnt say MISSED right into my face.

Not so. You will win. They changed the ghost beahviour and added a global counter to hit/miss. So, no matter how you try, you cannot lose a black dragon against a ghost.

Well, when you start using this tactic you can use gated creatures to "position" the enemy as the enemy will always go for the real creatures first (a bit hard to explain). Also if you are running low on mana or for some reason can't use Frenzy (Blindness can in some case be useful too), you can use gating to lure enemy #2, #3 and #4 forward, as they will attack the gated ones rather than wait. In the video you see the Ammo Cart do that trick, but works aswell with gating.
