The Cavern (Troglodyte) Faction ?
Heroes 5 - Cavern Faction
Introduction
“Let Geon's Hand lead us.”
Aka: The Troglodytes, The Underworld
Associated colors: black and dark green
Worship: Geon, the Allmighty.
Core philosophy: “Trust in Geon's Hand”.
Country / kingdom: The Underworld
Capital city: Temple of Geon
Hero: Messiah
Key symbols: the Pentagram, Geon's Eye
Description
The whole underground empire of the Troglodytes relies on one thing - Geon. Who, what and where did Geon come from is a mistery and no one knows His true form, race or power is unknown. He teached the troglodytes and helped them subdue various monsters. He gave the Diciples the power of mind control and they soon became known as Geon's Hand... Some even say he alone created the Cyclops as guardians of his Temple.
The Troglodytes serve the Scollars, the Scollars serve thr Diciples and the Diciples follow the Messiahs. Messiahs are the only ones who can enter the Temple of Geon and they are His voice and will. Creatures such as the Flesh Worms, the Wyverns and the Basilisk are contolled by the spellmasters and serve only the Geon's Hand.
Brief history
487 YSD: Geon's Rise
An unknown creature called Geon starts teaching some of the troglodytes. The primitive creatures are easily manipulated and soon Geon has many scollars.
491 YSD: The Hand of Geon
For senturies Wyverns, Flesh Worms and Basilisks attack the troglodytes. In order to oppose this, the first spellcasters amongst the troglodytes form Geon's Hand. One after another the various monsters are subdued to the spells of the Hand. The Beholders are created as sentries, protecting the caverns.
528 YSD: The Heretics
The Heretics rize... Troglodytes who are against Geon's Rule try to destroy his Diciples. The Heretics are defeated and the Diciples rize to power. The Temple of Geon is build. All access to Geon is forbitten and only a dosen of trusted spellcasters is allowed in the Temple. Cyclops are soon created to protect the Temple.
991 YSD: First touch with the outside world
A small group of Dark Elves reaches the caverns.
Creatures
Troglodytes / Tunnelers
Tier: 1
Simple-minded, these creatures are great in numbers and are dependant on the Geon and His Hand.
Scollars / Diciples
Tier: 2
Members of Geon's Hand, these mages rule the caverns, and follow only the leadership of the Messiahs. They have the power to control minds and they create magical eyes... A dosen eyes often hovers around them making them impossible to surprise
Evil Eyes / Beholders
Tier: 3
These eyes were created by Geon's Hand as sentys. They are the scouts of the Cavern Army. The Evil Eyes and the Beholders have tentacles and hover over the ground... They strike quickly and are relentless to Geon's enemies.
Flesh Larvas / Flesh Worms
Tier: 4
Eary in the history of Geon's Hand some of His diciples realised how easy to manipulate the mind of a Flesh Worm is. Soon most of these giant creatures were enslaved. They can burrow and their corosive breath can quickly reduce an enemy's armor.
Basilisks / Greater Basilisks
Tier: 5
Turning creatures into stone is a great skill... The troglodytes are blind though and even the Evil Eyes are immune to its gaze... Naturally, the Diciples decided these creatures would be a usefull as rides and soon captured and purged their minds of hatred. Beware of these large creatures and its riders.
Cyclops / Cyclops Kings
Tier: 6
The Legend says, Cyclops were created with magic from powerfull troglodite warriors and beholders. The cyclops are extremely loyal.
Wyverns / Wyvern Monarchs
Tier: 7
These creatures can poison their enemies with a bite.

Well there are already two underground factions (dark elves and dwarves) but your ideas are nice
I see you followed the logic: If hydras are underground, why wouldn't cyclopses and wyverns be?

this is nice. not too sure on having the leaders of the empire at level 2
one faction i was thinking of was of mutators, who mutate already existing creatures into horrible creations (with lots of snapping maws, flayling limbs and oozing slime). they are very corrupt and, since they have lots of pleasure cults who go after new and exciting experience, depraved. maybe they could be worked into the troglodyte faction, and have a Chimera at Level 7.

ITS GREAT!
In my opionion this is truly superb stuff, in heroes 3 the Dungeon faction was really weird, it was very evil. As in heroes 5 when they are Dark Eleves but are they really that bad? personally no, but that is not the real subject, This is good because.....well everything fits anyway, personally this looks like a faction that could be playable in heroes 5
PS: the Heritcs bit, did you get that from my Deminion faction or i am just paranoid

Having a multiheaded monster, and a big mutant would make the Cavern and the Dungeon a little too similiar.
Chimaera -> Hydra
Basilisk -> Grim Rider
Mutant-> Minotaur
+ Underground.
OK... lets me think about it. If the Chimaera has only one head, the mutant is skinny looking, then the similiarities wouldnt be that big.
1.Troglodyte / Tunneler
2.Evil Eye / Beholder
3.Scollar / Diciple
4.Flesh Larva / Flesh Worm
5.Basilisk / Greater Basilisk
6.Mutant / Elite Mutant (Suggest-a-name)
7.Chimaera / Chimaera Queen
As for the twisted minded warriors you crave... the Basilisk Riders are pretty lame, so they could be a little sadistic.

side note, all the mutants and Chirmeras are stitched together.
Sadism should be for everyone to enjoy (pardon the expression), not just for one creature, in my view. if you make one creature Sadistic, then you have to have a varying degree of sadism in each creature, rather than some not being sadist at all.

I deffinitely think you're onto something here. This town could very easily end up looking like a Dungeon replika in which all the creatures from the Heroes 3 Dungeon that didn't make the Heroes 5 Dungeon make an appearance.

i think he kinda looks like Blind Io from the dicsworld series.
we might need a few more units than just 2 trogoldytes. also we don't have a non magic shooter. its mainly walkers and one or two flyers and spellcasters, no shooters.

The Flesh worms could shoot... corosive acid.
Appart from the usual damage dealt by those guys, there's around 20%-30% percent chance that the attacked creature's armor would be reduced.

That's pretty much like a Mindflayer. Coupling this town with the Illithid to make a Troglodyte / Beholder / Illithid town might not be a bad Idea, actually - I'm not sure it would fit very well within the current frames of the Heroes 5 Mythology / History, but it could make a nice theme with room for several oldies from Heroes 3. Of course, it would also be very much like the Dungeon ...

No Illithids here... Just this thing. I think it could replace the beholders.
