hmmm I would say that I'll save HOMMIII for a rainy day ... but I guess I'll already be playing HOMMIV on those days..
Have to agree with preserver though. Its realy a "new" game and not just a sequal.
If I can find the time I'll be playing HOMMIII forever.

Have to agree with you Shae...
That's why I'm still posting here.
It's mainly because of people here not necessarily because of the game. Game has only got us together and will probably take us part for a while as everybody starts playing the new one. Of course I know the feeling of tournament where you want to play with others and also talk with them. In the end it's more about the people than the game. Maybe that what community is all about. Being together is what counts.

It's a very simple rule. One and the same type of people tend to play one and the same type of game. It's about human features and less about the game. "We are here to play games" I remember this old 3do slogan. It's only 1/2 valid. We are here because we like the other fans and they feel close to us. Herray, herray, we are here too talk.

When homm4 comes out I will switch to it and probably never look back. If its not good then I doubt I will play any heroes games again. If its a really good game then, well...you'll see.

Homm III
HommIV has dissapointed me. From the Units I have seen they dissapoint me alot. I like most of them i like the other ones are messed up. Still HommIII will go down in history(at least for me) as one of the best games. And I will keep on playing it.
Hey I still play Homm2 and will play it and same will be with Homm3

I'll say this much: I'll be playing HoMM 3 after HoMM 4 is put out simply because I have better things to spend my money on than another computer game. For example, I bought Age of Empires 2 last month and only played it that weekend. About six months down the road I'll consider picking it up, but for now, Heroes3 is good enough for me.
But then again, I'm conservative like that, so your mileage may vary.

I don't think I'll abandon HOMM3.
It depends on how different HOMM4 will be from HOMM3. In some cases, a new version of a game is simply better than the previous one. If that had been the case here, I think I would never play HOMM3 again. However, HOMM4 seems very different, with lots of different rules for combat, magic, skills etc.
As a result, I will probably look at HOMM3 and HOMM4 as two different games, and thus play both of them. Of course, it's possible that I will like HOMM4 so much better than HOMM3 that I will only play HOMM4 in the future, but I don't think so.
Sometimes I get tired of the new games I have, and then I look for an older one which I had got tired of before. And I often enjoy it. Maybe HOMM3 will be such a game, but it's also possible that I will play it as much as HOMM4. Anyway, I'll never forget HOMM3. It's simply too great for that.

Ok, after I posted my first bunch of rhymes originally written in English, it'd be nice of me to state my opinion.
Well, When I stopped playing the H2 demo, I was fascinated by the full H3. I always remembered that H2 demo. And after a while I dumped H3. Then, I got H1 and 2. H1 I forgot after a while, but Heroes Of Might And Magic Two always had it's own cosy place in my memory. And I still play it today, unlike HoMM3. And I won't, I say I WON'T play HoMM4. The second in the series had the most powerful magic. The spellcasting system was irritating in HoMM1, and earning enough money to buy a sufficient army was a miracle in my case. And HoMM4 has many features I hated in other games. So I guess I'll stay in the old, dusty, rotting HoMM2...

HeroesIII will never die - it's "too" perfect!
HIV is completely different, like another game. The first impression is bad, but it changes while playing more and more, finding a lot of interesting things. - Nevertheless this is not enough to be even compared to HOMM III.
Maybe I'll play HOMM 14 with my kids, but I'll allways remember HOMM 3, cause it will live in my heart forever till the end(who said death is the end?
...and of course left-right fight...

I like HOMMIV but I do miss HOMMIII occasionally and will go back and play it. I really liked being able to pick my starting hero and the fact the heros had their specialties. You developed a liking for one hero over another which made the game a little more personal to me. I find myself not caring who my starting hero is in IV or when I hire from the tavern. I usually just look at the class and choose from that. I don't think I will ever stop playing III occasionaly or HOMM II for that matter. I like them all!

Homm4 ruined the entire series. It has a bad storyline (the world gets destroyed...) and also NWC removed many aspects which made Homm3 a great game.

Ok now almpst a year has passed since HOMM4 release, and what? Does the "Fate of HOMM3" question still exist? I don't think so. I know many players who can't play HOMM3 because they drown in the fourth part. But still, most people I know prefer Heroes III. It proved to be really good game once again.
IMHO, both III and IV have the right to exist, though I myself like HOMM3 a little more.
The question that should now rise is "Fate of Heroes IV", because AFAIK, the developers will turn back to the third part in the Heroes of M&M V. And they'll have a lot of time to make a good game (if they don't go for 3D graphics, of course ). So the fate of HOMM4 is now really under question.

Ohh this thread make me remember a lot of things in the past, you say Why heroes 2???
Well, my best friend have it, and I bougth my computer, a spectacular celeron 330 mhz, 32 ram, , and I saturated this pc with demos of the magazine's cds ,(who don't do it that), but my friend lent me you heroes 2 cd, and when I install it, and the sword appear and cross the planet (maybe new world computing logo) I say: oh, maybe this game is good, and well I start the game and I don't understand nothing and I say, what the hell is this game ???? is so boringgggg, I call to my friend and he say, come on is a good game, just play it, and with his instructions I start to play, I select the wizard town, and I play a XL map, my first XL map, and when I go for the Titans(my friend say, if you have titans you can win ) and there is with his long thunder in his hand , and wow this guyy really hard to beat, I play that map for a long time (12 months heroes time, and 2 or 3 week human time) and when I go for the last town in the map, this is defended by 78 titans, 200 archmagies, 300 rocs, 400 golems, and 1200 halflings( I don't know how many are because I see (horde, throng, swarm, swarm, and legion) they crush me like a bug , but is too late, I falling in love with this game, I love that barbarian opera song, I love that Warlocks opera song, and I put the heroes 2 cd on my diskman and play all the songs, with this beautiful music ( I have all the tracks in Mp3, and I put it, in my winamp and enjoy...
I love that crusaders with his gold armour
I love that funny zombies with flys around his head
I love that that funny vampires like dracula
I hate that unbeatible black dragons because I play with knight town, and my last level creature(crusaders) have 60 HP (I don't really sure about) and the black dragons of the same level has 300 HP, and the population is 4 crusader for week, and 3 black dragons for week, What the hell can I do to beat this dragons ???
This are a very few reasons about why heroes 2

It seems to me that only titans can stand a chance against the black dragons.
