Quote: Shooters are not the strongest creatures, nor are Flyers.
Fortress is actually a really strong town type if you play it properly.
Agreed.
@topic:
Ancient Behemoths are probably the strongest level 7 creature at all. The reason is the 80% Armor reduction is scaling when heroes are reaching higher levels. On an level 1 hero, an Archangel may win against an Ancient Behemoth, but when heroes are becoming stronger the Behemoth will be superior to any other level 7 unit.
The most useful level 6 unit is the Naga Queen, I think. Very reliable. Perfect for the job to protect these Arch Mages. You can fly in and attack these shooters, but it's a suicide mission thanks to the Naga Queen.
The Dread Knight ist strong, but this special may trigger or not. And they always seem a bit lost between these thousands of skellies

I disagree about the level 7 creatures. I think Hydra and Behemoth are the strongest level 7s. Why? Because you can get them in week 1 (at least on 130%), and they have very good stats compared to other unupgraded level 7s.
In my opinion, Dendroid Soldier should not be placed below Zealot. Remember that you get a hoard building, allowing you to build a lot of them. Besides, their structure is very economical, requiring only gold. Grand elf best level 3, along with Royal Griffins and Cerberus.

I dont agree that AB is the best lvl7 unit. Yes, nobody can defeat AA except AB. But I've been experimenting and founded out that AB is no match for titans, even for black dragons, they kicked his ass.

Quote: How on earth can necropolis be the weakest town type?
I think i said this compares the creature strengts of one creatures not balance and not the Necropolis specials. I said that very thing in fisrt post that Phoenix growth and Necromancy skill completely changes the town strenghts. I know that Necropolis is one of the strongest towns in the game and nothing can stop them in very big map.
And God2 how can you say Behemonths and Hydras are the strongest lv7 creatures just because you can have them in first week? It's just tactics you use whit this town not the creature powers itself. And also it's not 100% sure you can build Behemonth building in first day unless you play in Normal difficulty what really is lame imo.

Actually, I did not say Ancient Behemoth, I said regular Behemoth and regular Hydra. The upgraded versions are less useful because you get them much later, and they are not quite as strong as other upgraded level 7s. In their unupgraded forms however, they are among the most solid unupgraded level 7s you get.
EDIT: Just noticed you were actually replying to Heymlich's post. Now well, my point stands nonetheless.

Well, I rate creature strength on usefulness. Titans and Arch Angels look great on paper, but if you cannot build them they won't do you any good. As for Behemoths, you should be able to build them on at least day 3 on 130%, day 2 if your town starts with Wolf Pens.
If you want to judge creatures by who are the strongest on paper, no cost or prerequisites involved, then of course AAs are the best level 7s.

Behemoths are very useful since you can build them in week 1, I agree with that. H...something was talking about AB being strongest lvl7 unit, and I just replied that AB is no match for titan.

Titans are a tough opponent for the ancient behemoth, yes. The Behemoth still can win, but in most cases he doesn't.
I have no idea what happened in your testing when the black dragons were winning. I've never seen that happen
But it depends alot on the hero level. The higher the Defense of the heroes is, the more powerful is the special of the ancient behemoth.

In case using blackie hero was cleric lvl1 (1att,0def,no spells - I would like hero had 0att but this couldn't happen), no terrain/moral/luck... bonuses. Blackie won, I suppose becouse of only 25 def. You're right, this is special case and with higher hero level AB would win. Sorry.
