Draconian Faction

Was reading KnightDougal's Shaman faction, which got me intrigue in a Draconian Faction.  In thinking about it, got two interesting concept for me... one is the Faction's special abality of choosing elemental's for the creature.. and another is Egglin's special ablity.  Anyhow.. here is a basic draft of it.

4. Draconian Samurai / Draconian Shogun
5. Draconian Wise / Draconian Sage

7. King Dragon / Emperor Dragon

Lv 1.
Egglin:
They have zero attack and can not move at all (its a egg), but decent in defense.  However, they do have a special ability call Hatch, which enable them to turn into a higher level creature for that battle.  At the end of the battle, they are revert back to egg, and so it their number.

Hatch Hatchlin:  Turn into Hatchlin, take 1 turns, and divide the number of creature by 1.
Hatch Wyrm:  Turn into Wyrm, take 2 turns, and divide the number of creature by 2.
Hatch Land Drake:  Turn into Land Drake, take 6 turns, and divide the number of creature by 6

Hatchlin:
A good and well rounded first level creature, but more expensive.


Lv2.
Wyrm / Drac Wyrm:
Early level flyer.  Weak in defense and HP, and okie in attack.  Strike and Return ablity, as well as Breath Attack for upgraded.  Look more like a snake with wings.


Lv3.
Draconian Shooter / Draconian Blaster:
A lower class (less develop) Draconian, who are the range attacker of the group.  Able to shoot out balls of elementals (depend on their hatching elementals) from their maw.  The Blaster¡¦s shot have splash damage too.  Also can fly.


Lv4.
Draconian Samurai / Draconian Shogun:
All around melee fighter with flying ability and breath attack (active ability).


Lv5.
Draconian Wise / Draconian Sage:
Mage creature, with magic shot, breath attack, and Time Magic, include:
Reversal of Time:  Revert a creature back in town.  If its is a upgraded, will become un-upgraded, and if its un-upgraded, will lower some of its stats.  Last only for short while (like 1 turn)
Passage of Time:  Fast forward the time for that creature.  Any duration effect will be gone (like enchantments or poison).  Also speed up any turn consuming skills (like Gatting or Hatching)


Lv6.
Land Drake / Mega Drake:
Large Land bounded dragon with good defense and attack, but slow (kinda like a Treant).
Tremor ablity.
Tremor:  Damage all foe around, and reduce their initiative.
Siege attack:  Its attack and break down walls and gates.


Lv7.
King Dragon / Emperor Dragon:
Large flying 3 headed dragon.  Very expansive, but good in stats.
3 Headed Breath Attack:  Breath Attack to 3 directions.
Golden Scale:  Immune to Magic for one turn.  Active ability.


Can be Look like King Ghidorah
 


This lineup suggest more of a Might Faction.  They don¡¦t have a good range attacks, but rely more on fly in attackers.  Many creatures have breath attacks, which is usefully in attacking multiple enemies.

A lore could be added is that the Draconian does not have the deity affiliation like that of other dragons, instead are spawn of the Queen Mother Dragon.  Their development, and watch creature it could be hatch from the egg, depend on how it is care and handle while in the nest.  This lead to their Faction¡¦s special ability:

Hatchery

When creating a Draconian creature production building, you can choose one of the elementals, which will effect what type of creature it is.  Thus if you choose fire elemental for a Draconian Samurai building, it will be a Red Draconian, and will breath fire breath¡K and so on for other 3 elementals.  This choice is available to only the lv 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 creatures.  Further improvements will allow them to take Immune to that elemental, and deal additional effect with their breath/ball blast attacks.  


Hero Ability

Not too sure what hero ability to use, but could be something where its link to the faction ability, and the creature and its link elementals.  Which could be ablity that make them immune to their associated elementals, do more effect damages with their elemental attacks, extend the reach and range of breath attacks, etc etc.

it got me interested as well. alot of people have been thinking about it. Heine has been thinking about a mini-town for them.

did i hear that right? and emperor dragon and a mega drake? i'm scared now, and slighty worried that you think just because they are dragon creatures, that they get acess to the most powerful dragon.

a really interesting concept and ability. it should be fun to play. please make sure that they need the dwelling of said creatures to use this ability.

i've never liked the idea that wyrms and dragons are seperate creatures, because they are one and the same.

the flame dragon is land bound, and do you see it at level 6?

my fear has been confirmed, this tops the overpowered scale tenfold!

so do alot of factions, but they limit themselves to just 2 or 3.

and interesting ability, but its a bit too powerful (like the entire faction).

my suggestion for creature line up

1>hatchling
2>draconian ashigaru-> draconian crossbowman
3>draconian samurai-> draconian ronin
4>draconian enchanter-> draconian sage
5>wyvern-> wyvern broodlord
6>draconian Hotomato-> draconian shogun
7> qulin-> Kirin (can change into an elemental form, which is basically a lvl 6 elemental.)

Isn't it hard to judge balance without seeing the stats? There are drawbacks as well to better justify their strength.  Some of the names does make them sound more powerful than they are, but it should be the stats that determin how powerful they are.. which is not provided in this draft.

Whats wrong with Hatchling?  Also yours is not the first Hatchling creature I saw around this fourm.

Wyrm can be seen differntly in differnt fantasy lores.  I see them as a less develop and much smaller dragon with intellgent of a beast.  This might be different than what your preceive wyrm to be... but oh well.

Or I should look in KD's thread for more details?

I have a basic problom with the 7th level creature.
All the dragons power suppose to be equal (even it's not like that).
There are not many kings of dragons. Asha is the only one.
You can't just give a dragon an adjective of a king.
You can give him an adjective as "Green Dragon, Red Dragon, Black Dragon, Shadows Dargon, etc..." But not "King Dragon".
I hope you understood.

My suggest, it to change it into Gold Dargon.

The name for King Dragon and Emperor does sound overpower.  The reason I choose it because I am reading it as a adjective (like King Crab, Emperor Penguin), rather than as a Status Title (no Dragon King or Dragon Emperor).  Like said, they are not the "true dragon", in which they are a deity, or have much relation with one, but are a spawn of a more mortal, down-to-earth, Queen Mother Dragon.  

Of couse, the name could always be change.  But I would want something more beastile sounding, than more magical (like silver or another color), all the while still sound



Its been while since I play.. but using comparetive method, here is a draft stats.

Lv7.
King Dragon / Emperor Dragon:

Attack:  28 / 32
Defense: 24 / 26
Damage:  30-60 / 30-70
Hit Points:  240 / 200
Speed: 7 / 6
Initative: 9 / 9
Cost: 3700+1G+1C / 4500+1G+1M+1C

Abality:
[Large Creature]:
[Cross Breath Attack]: A cross of Breath attack (V like attack range)
Upgrade
[3 Headed Breath Attack]: Breath Attack to 3 directions.  \|/
[Flyer]:

King Dragon will be 2 headed, and not flyer
Emperor Dragon will have 3 heads, and wings.

Strength:
Very powerful, one of the most heavy hitter of the level 7.  Also very strong in defense and hit points.  Its differnt breath attack will cover great range, allowing it to attack multiple enemy at once.

Weakness:
It does have lots weakness.  For one, its vulnerable to magic damages.  Its also very slow, and short in movement.  Also the cost will add up, with the extra material requirement.  Also their breath attack can harm friendly units if not careful.  

Usage:
Best use with some type of support, either to tie enemy's range attack down, or to speed boost them, else they won't get too far with their lumbering movements.  Could work well as another mid range intercepter.  But not too well as backline defender, unless you want to fry some of your own troops too.

When I saw the King Emperor's status, I thought it's a little weak.
only 7 speed (don't get to the enemy), low initiative and things like that.

When I saw the special abilities I was shocked.
Can attack 6 creatures at once?!?!
It's "a little" overpowered in my opinion!!

Which brings to the strategy of using them.  They are a powerhouse when they are in your face.... but thats only if you can get them in their face.  (think of them kinda like a big group of Deep Hyrda in term of playing style)  Also the cost... the cost...

In playing against, them.. few ways to keep them out of bay.  Also I would imagin Mind Control Magic would work great on them.

I have got ideas for history and chreatures:

Ther was a well lived country, they lived in peace. But after a rebellion, it was split to two pieces: Dracoplish (my Shaman Faction) and ......(Actionjack's Draconic faction).

We shoud perlace Egglin and Hatchlin to Dragon Guardian.

one of your factions need to be more... "human". the draconians need to have more prominance if they are the title of the faction, so some heroes. please don't use really powerful dragons, and use older Heroes creatures, like Wyverns and the like.

also, knight dougal, your shaman faction is very good, but maybe you could use a creature that has something to do with shamanism?. if anything, actionjack's faction should get the hatchling. he's done a really good job on it.

one of your factions need to be more... "human". the draconians need to have more prominance if they are the title of the faction, so some heroes. please don't use really powerful dragons, and use older Heroes creatures, like Wyverns and the like.

also, knight dougal, your shaman faction is very good, but maybe you could use a creature that has something to do with shamanism?. if anything, actionjack's faction should get the hatchling. he's done a really good job on it.


But his/her "Hatchling" is named Hatchlin.
