Actually as it is been said befor knights are units of might and very little magic. each hero can only get 5 types of skills, plus one which is race dependent. As result it is waste of valuable skill options for a Knight to have both dark and light magic only for mass slow or mass haste.

Well in MP you can't afford both dark and light if the map is not very hudge. Of curse the combo is great for single play
Personally i prefer dark magic but you must increse the knowledge(from artifacts and map bonuses) for more mana.

Why won't Haven heroes get Twilight???? That would help promote Dark + light on Knight....

Light magic have cleansing and magical immunity which help knight to solve problems with the might way. Also mass haste, righteous might, divine strength let your army to kill magic hero much faster.

ah found this topic

So i know all Haven players go for Light Magic and some go for Dark aswell. but how many Haven players actually go for Light and Dark magic at same time?

it's damn useful after all, and could end up beating factions that have no chance against dark magic very badly.

Sorcery and Enlightment added in this, casting would be fast and would go on for awhile.

using this combo with knight heroes would add the bonus that you would still give massive defense and attack bonus to your troops, spells combined, they would be killers. bad side is that they have low knowledge overall and low chance for sorcery and enlightment.

also using this with heroes of other factions, like wizards for example would help you with spellpower and knowledge part, making you much better with dark and light spells overall and also giving better chance at getting sorcery and enlightment, but you would get very minimum boosts to attack and defense.

and what knight hero would suit this build the best in your opinion?

now feel free to discuss, argue, rant and all other things

Except you won't get sorcery(which isn't exactly a good idea - mass spells are always 1/2 of initiative) or enlightenment with knight. Power and knowledge are too low to have both unless the map is rich with artifacts and adventure locations. In a normal multiplayer game it can't work.

I've heard the idea of a wizard commanding haven and I'd like to see how that works. The downside is that you get no summoning spells(pray you'll get firetrap in guild 1 ) but you can still get training by leveling a secondary knight a bit. What may go wrong is if you get 'bad' level ups in your first knight levels that hurts.
Also...If you aim for the guilds even up to 3 you may experience an ore or wood shortage. Haven needs them for the dwellings and lvl 1-2 spells for early may not help much with creeping - you still have to rely on your marksmen.

ahh the epic battle of light vs dark magic for a knight.. classic

i guess there are two things to consider:

1) dark spells kick way more a$$ in levels 4 and 5 with the likes of frenzy, blind, puppet master(yet not as good as frenzy)

2) dark magic CAN be countered, while light magic cannot... what i mean by that is... many creatures have natural immunities to spells of dark magic and the dwarven artifacts, as well as sandro's cloak can render dark magic nearly useless! however no one will ever prevent you from buffing your own units and if you call mass cleansing a "counter" consider this... the hero wastes half of his initiative on a LIMITED area.. so at least SOME of your units are still buffed.. and cleansing doesnt always work

for smaller maps... go for dark because the odds of opponent having counter for it is low

for larger maps... you can DEFINATELY expect at least a sandro's cloak, therefore its best to stick to light... IMO

I never really considered taking 2 schools with haven...the might skills are just too tempting.

d_p91, are you sure you understand the effect of Sandro's Cloak? It negates mind immunity, thus it's only useful if YOU have dark magic. Very nice against Necro

yeah i tested this myself too, it's pretty much impossible to get 2 2% chance skills in normal multiplayer unless you get insanely lucky.
so i guess one could try doing this IF they get enlightment then, since it's the better choice out of those 2. with enlightment, you would think hero would get some extra spellpower and knowledge points aswell. and intelligence of course

yeah, the resource problem is there, i can barely have enough wood and ore for ANYTHING after first week :x even if i would get mines for both on first day.

im gonna test how i could do it with wizard hero, their high chance for the needed skills is probably better for this build.

but ill still keep trying with Knight heroes too, i want to see how high chance there is to get this build to work.
