Similarities to the Wheel of Time
I did a search and was surprised to see no one mentioned this.
I saw several similarities and inspirations from Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series in Heroes V.
For example:
Inquisitor - in fact a job in the book, the ever feared Inquistors of the Children of Light.
Blood Maiden - Spear Maidens from the book of course, A fighting Women's society of the Aiel. btw in the description it says they practice the "Elven battle dance", in the books the Aiel refer to battle as a dance.
Shadow Witch - reminding very much of the Aiel Wise Ones, old females only members of the tribe that can use the magical One Power.
Blade Dancer - Same as the blood maiden, with a special abbility of war dance, remind you of anything?
Hero - Ellaine - A beloved Lady that returned to her country much like the books' Elayne.
Anyway I thought it was nice.
If You've found anything I've missed let me know.

I think it's purely conincidence. There will always be an overlap in Fantasy worlds. But then I'm not the developer, so don't know what the read before thinking out the game.

I have to go with alcibiades on this one. these are only few out of 1 million. I can bring forth some other stories such are lord of the rings that have few things in common. such as dragons, horsemans, archers, elves. so No there are no similarities that could count as major point.

It is also a big overlap with Warhammer. The Dungeon faction is far from original. Heroes III had many elements from D&D.
So will it always be.
