Best abilities in the game?
Since there were so much discussion about the worst abilities in the game, I thought I would like to reverse theluCas' thread and hear peoples opinions on the best abilities. Both normal ones and racial/special, not counting the ultimate ones of course.
Personally I like Master of Mind as a normal ability. Both mass slow and mass confusion at once - couldn't be better for tactical spells.
For adventuring, Silent Stalker is great as it is a super scouting skill, giving you a huge radius and fools the enemy in addition to see if creatures will join you.
Teleport Assault is also good fun, especially with hydras to do massive damage, or treants to pin down your enemy.
Among the uniqe ones - Warlocks Luck is unbeatable.

I like many of the "unique" abilities. Nival had some very nice ideas there.
Examples: Mentoring. It's just great if you can recruit a hero from tavern and he becomes a lvl 15 hero immediately because you have a lvl 20 hero with mentoring. Great for kamikazee warlocks with Destructive Magic or to make a good hero for defending a town!
Corrupted Soil. Not very much damage, I admit. But it is just funny when some creatures die just because they walk
I just like the idea of it.

Good topic!
And my favorite abilities are:
Humans - Guardian Angel
Elves - Nature Luck ofcouse (helpful in the final quest of Sylvan campaign).
Dark Elves - Empowered spells and Plague tent.
Demons - Urgash (hard to get but unstopable)
Wizards - March of the Golems (make them more useful) and Wall of fog.
Undeads - Death march and Haunted mines
Dwarves - Absolute protection, hard to lose with this ability...

All of the abilities that creat mass spells for light or dark magic are spectacular.

I totaly agree.
And also the abilities of special effects to destructive spells.
Like freezing effect to Circle of Winter, it's extremely useful. You can delay some creatures' turns and do a certain damage.

I forgot Mentoring - it seems almost overpowered.
And yes, it's great for armageddon strategies with few units since your hero can "mass produce" new heroes.

Yes, Mentoring is completely off the ropes, the only good thing being that it will do nothing for your primary hero, but only your secondary.
With all the talk about Haven being overpowered because of the Marksmen and stuff, I find Divine Guidance to be a particularly usefull ability, because it'll effectively let your Marksmen or Paladins get an extra action whenever your Hero has turn - at least most of the time. I was supprised how much use I made of that ability.

I ususally cast other spells before DG. Mass Haste and the other mass spells. I usually end up not getting the time to cast it. Haste at expert is 7% more Iniative. But cumulative they get up to 73%, which can be great if you have a really powerful stack.

Too bad you have to choose between "archery" and "power of speed" as a necro.. both of them are invaluable >_>
