only one level 6 and 7 one (out of that, level 7 is obviously made just for fun).
no it wasn't! its a serious unit, just how i explained it is a bit funny!

We should drop one level 4
which one do you suggest!

and add a level 6 unit, so that we have two of each. My vote for another level 6 goes for cyclopses - abilities: rock throw (activated ability; twice per combat; a 3x3 area missile, can also target walls), crushing (additional attack against small units), breaking fall (when completely killed, the stack of cyclopses deals damage to all units around it, friend or foe alike).
Cyclopses like gold and loot, that's reason enough for them to be mercenaries.
too true. or they just do it for fun!
Quote:
You also need to run a total spell-check on the descriptions, I noticed grammar mistakes and typos. I could do that for you when I find time, if you want.
please do
to KD: i was thinking that the player buys them, like normal creatures, so what your suggesting is a constant amount of gold being extracted to pay them. that is interesting, it would make people think about using them, as we don't want people to buy loads of mercenaries and start storming. if the mercenaries that you pay decide to attack you, you won't have anyone to defend you, making you think about researching in your own units!

So maek sure you have got normal units too... and if all your units are merchanyes you lose the hero cause he have no army.

It summons frogs. Frogs.
Even a serious explanation would make it funny. Once again, for those who didn't pay attention:
-> Frogs. <-

Any. Spellthieves are simply weird, headhunters don't seem civilized enough to understand mercenarism, brewmasters have no reason to fight. You choose. I'm not crazy about any of them.
Quote: too true. or they just do it for fun!
So they're in? Cool.
I'll try to run a spell-check as soon as possible...

frogs are serious creatures. several japanese, chinese and aztec myths portray frogs and the bringer of rain and fertility to the crops. a man who can summon any unit (these aren't small frogs, they are human sized, armed , with not only tongues but with large knives, venomous and dangeroues, the mother frog is just plain lethal!) must be rare and high in the pecking order!
Quote: brewmasters have no reason to fight. You choose. I'm not crazy about any of them.
they travel and fight. in warfare, you can't just say "i'm a civilian, i can't fight!". also, they are probably drunk when they do it, using drunken fist martial arts with are incredibly powerful.
to ted: yes it is like a market, it is essentially how you would normally hire creatures, but you can only hire them from the mercenaries guild!

Yes, I know, but that doesn't change the fact that they are frogs...

Badgers, sheeps, snails... and now frogs? There are two types of animals in fantasy - cool and uncool. Cool animals are tigers, bears, big wolfs and stuff that seems dangerous and/or is well-known in fantasy. Uncool animals are small, harmless creatures that aren't even creepy. Avoid putting uncool animals because it makes the game look childish. Sure, they might work, but its a rare thing.
Basicly if you have some kind of mercenary wizard, he'd rather summon Efreets or Magogs. They both fit better than Frogs. We all know wizards made some kinds of experiments with demons. So if they kind of tryed making a half-demon, half-genie it would turn out as an Efreet and if they create a half-imp, half-goblin you'd get Gogs and Magogs. So some kind of pyromancer, who summons these two would be cool.

basically, the summoner is much more wise. he has done his research about things, and above all, he has found that frogs are not only easier to summon, but also safer to summon (he is just as worried about his hide as anyone else), so he tends not to summon big impressive things, because they are hard to control.
also, frogs are very much entwined with witchcraft "eye of newt and toe of frog." these guys are ultimately witches, and having killed or the newts in order to use the first part, they have found out that frogs are pretty powerful!
if you want to include a pyromancer, i'll be happy to include it as another level7 creature.

Shhh... Do you hear that?
That's the sound of frogs still being totally unfitting...
Quote: he has done his research about things
Especially alcohol... That reminds me of some homeless guy who had the sign "need cash for alcohol research"...
Why not give them summon elementals? That would be a compromise solution.

Look, I gave you a friendly advice. Since it's your thread, you can make them summon whatever they want. I'm just saying I don't like frogs as summoned creatures...

ok, ok. i'll include a second mercenary summoning wizard, the pyromancer, who summons dangerous fire creatures.
with the toads, they are ment to take damage!, the Summoner summons a load of either a) throw away units that can be used en masse or b) a huge unit that supplies units to the first ones en masse.
(probably after this thread, splatting toads will become a international sport!)

Awesome. I'll try to think up some cool unique abilities for him tomorrow, (I'd do it now, but I'm kinda tired)
