Best creature's special ability
What do you think it the best creature's special ability. I'm talking about things like Life Drain, Spray attack, Fire Breath, etc. Flying is good, too.
In my opinion, the best ability is the Incorporeality of the Ghost.
It's very strong ability, because only half of the hits on it are executed.

Yes, of course it is the Deadly strike. It used to be the totally unbalanced ability of ghosts - making more ghosts though.
But I have wondered how does the game calculate the chance of abilites like this happen?
Mainly my question is: Does more troops affect the abilities chance of appearing?
With the Death Knight it is 25% no matter, but how about the Unicorns blindness attack? And how much does "Soldiers Luck" boost the % ?

Death Knight has a fixed change of 25% for Deadly Strike to accur. All other abilities (like Unicorns Blingind attack) have 25% base chance and then stack sizes are taken into account. The range is capped between 5%-75%.
The actual formula is:
25%+3%*(HPyou/HPtarget)
when attacker with the ability has more HP than enemy creature and
25%-3%*(HPtarget/HPyou)
when enemy has more HP than the attacker
Soldiers Luck gives the ability another change to trigger if it fails the first time. (like flipping a coin again if it didn't come "heads" the first time)

I like the deathknights ability, sad that he has no town... damn those necros for banning him from your town!! Bad necros! Rebirth, who don't hate to fight those phoenix when they come back to whip your ass again... Again sad they have no town
So does the Nightmares also only have 25% for using their Fright attack? because i love that too, unless its used on ranged units. but i don't see it happen that much, sad.

No. Like Shauku83 said, the more hit points the Nightmares have and the less the enemy has, the higher the chance.

What is also important is that Nighmare's chance is calculated AFTER causing the damage to the target. Anyway it's all in the manual, page 236,237 of 251.

No retaliation and double attacks are great creature abilities. Maybe a little obvious, but huge offensive benefit none the less.

There are two creatures that have Duble Attack ability: Minotaur Guard and Hunter.
The Minotaur Guard's Duble Attack is great, he has another hit after the retaliation.
The Hunter just puts his damage into two shot. It's pointless untill he upgrades into Master Hunter, with the chance to extra luck in the second shot...

Battle dive is another great ability. It is so fun to play with. Either planning round position to go twice before the divee goes once or guessing where the oponent move to (when shooters are not available to dive). I love diving a melee fighter, and having my opponent move their shooters to aviod the dive. I steal the shooters turn and still get to hit my dive.

Its not a gamble if the griffins go twice before the divee goes once- nothing they can do about it. Honestly it probably not the best skill in the game (it takes 2 turns to do 2x damage), but it is fun to play with.

Nightmare's fear attack never fails to help me, whether in creeping or clearing of Dragon Utopia or even siege invasion.
I could still clearly remember the time when the AI sent a big batch of emerald dragons out of the castle walls only to be sent back immediately by nightmares; in the end, the emerald dragons hardly did anything (gathered initiative points lost).
Therefore, I think fear attack is one of the best...
