Grand Opening - LRH HOMM3 tournament!
Here's the link to our site: LRH Tournament.
It seems that many H3 lovers have fond memories of the good-old days of ToH and WW. They will be happy to know that LRH, a new HOMM3 tournament, awaits for them with open arms.
In many respects, LRH follows the great tradition of ToH (HOMM3). Acknowledging tried and tested procedures, LRH does not attempt to reinvent the wheel, but rather to make improvements based on players’ comments and suggestions.
Here is a summary of the LRH features (additional benefits will be discovered by curious players who browse the site’s pages and actually join the tournament):
1) To solve ToH’s inability to enforce rules, LRH has a pre-reporting system. Once two players decide to start a game, they access their LRH accounts and pre-report what is about to be played. Only one of the 2 players (flip a coin if you can’t decide which one!) will initiate the pre-report. He/she specifies the desired map, opponent’s username, and the rules to be used during the game (or, if players so choose, there is a ‘no rules’ option). The form is extremely user-friendly, so little typing is actually involved (to prevent typing errors). Maps and nicknames are simply selected by users from ready-made lists (however, the first 1-2 letters of the title must be punched-in, for ease of navigation). More importantly, there is a fairly large set of game rules from which players can select their chosen options. The list of rules contains:
A. No Rules
B. Standard Rules: Must FMG, No Red Rush, No Hit and Run, No DD/Fly, No Grail, No Carto, No Hill fort, No Double Built, No Prison Hero.
C. Diplomacy Rules: No Diplomacy, No Joiners
D. Town Rules: No Conflux Town, No Necromancy Town
E. Skill Rules: No Necromancy Skill, No Level 4 Hero, No Native Logistics, No BORN Logistics, No Mullich
F. Extra-Troops Rules: No Dwellings, No Griffin Conservatory, No Hive, No Refugee Camp
G. Spell Rules: No Red Orb, No Implosion, No Armageddon, No Scrolls 3-4-5
Any particular rule or combination of these rules can be chosen for a game, provided that both players agree on it. Also, to avoid any problems of ‘interpretation’, a LRH definition of each rule is provided, and players must respect this definition during the game. For example, a player might have a subjective opinion about the meaning of ‘no double built’, while his/her opponent believes that ‘no double built’ refers to a slightly different thing. Conflicts are bound to arise. However, standard LRH definitions are the only ‘legal documents’ based on which right/wrong will be assessed – there is no room for interpretation!
When the initiator submits his/her pre-report, a record of the upcoming game is saved on LRH database. The opponent will receive a notification about this pre-report and will simply confirm it (with the click of a button) if everything seems to be in order (i.e. if the agreed-upon game conditions were correctly specified by the initiator). However, if the opponent sees an error in the initiator’s pre-report, he/she will deny the game, and allow the initiator to correct the issue. Until all pre-report issues are solved and both players confirm their agreement, the game will not be matched. Unmatched pre-reports show up in each player’s control panel. Confirmation/warning messages are generated by the LRH system to let the user know if his/her pre-report, denial or confirmation was recorded. The absence of a message indicates that no action was taken, so the player should click the submit button more forcefully )
2) The Player Control Panel is a multi-purpose tool (sort of a friendly mini-program). It gives the player a chance to see and organize everything related to his LRH activity (from game reports, through statistics to profile updates). It has a built-in message centre, which automatically announces the player what pressing matters need to be solved: how many and which of his/her games are unreported or unmatched, if there are any conflicts (denied pre-reports or reports), etc. These messages include links directing the player to the specific webpage of interest.
3) After the pre-reports are matched, players can get to the real business of playing. When the game is over, they come back to LRH to confirm their win/loss in the report form (and since all prior information is automatically transferred by the smart system from matched pre-reports into the report form, the player is only left to select the option win or loss). Games reported by just one player (but not confirmed by the opponent) show up in players’ control panel, and are also posted on the LRH Unmatched Games webpage. Comments about the game (who did what, when and how) are optional, but LRH provides a space for comments in the report form and encourages players to use it (H3 history is so nice!)
4) A Player Profile is created for every LRH member. It contains some ‘social’ data (username, e-mail, country, photo, etc.) and some summary stats (player’s rank, honour, #wins, #losses, etc.). Moreover, THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF GAMES DISPUTED BY THAT PLAYER is provided (don’t forget to click the ‘+’ sign and ‘Read More’ to see details for a particular game). The list includes everything: from stats, to types of maps played by that person, to the comments he left during each game (and the comments of his opponents),etc.
5) A LRH ranking system is in place (link:Rankings). The ranks (based on the military structure of the Roman Empire) from lowest to highest, are as follows:
1. Tiro: Less then 5 Games
2. Immunis: 0 – 1149 points
3. Centurio: 1150 - 1299 points
4. Tribunus: 1300 - 1499 points
5. Imperator: 1500 - 1699 points
6. Legionis: 1700 - 1899 points
7. Praetorian: 1900+ points
Various medals and awards can be obtained during the regular tournament or the open-tournaments hosted by LRH. Rankings, scores and medals over the years will be computed and posted – well, let’s wait and see what the future has in store for LRH!
6) The LRH scoring system tries to distance itself from the WW approach, where playing lots of games brings about high ranking (regardless of the actual performance). LRH uses an opponent-adjusted formula, tested by ToH (see next link:The Scoring System for description and examples). However, in ToH, players from the highest ranks lacked motivation to engage lower level players. This is corrected in LRH by ensuring that any victory brings a MINIMUM of +1 POINT TO THE WINNER, and limiting the maximum number of points that can be obtained from a game to 75 POINTS.
7) The automated system of LRH has built-in checks that prevent many unintentional or intentional wrong-doings. However, cheating, sudden drop-outs during the game and other issues of this sort are outside machine capabilities of conflict resolution. For this purpose, LRH has a Hall of Shame (where dishonest players are posted, after their exclusion from LRH), an Honour Score system (see next link:The Scoring System and press The "HONOUR" from left menu) and the Round Table. The Round Table consists of 7 knights – 7 LRH members who have the power and obligation to solve various conflicts during the tournament. The 7 Knights are reliable and honorable folks (from all over the world) who know the intricacies of online HOMM3 games and have equal voting rights. They volunteer to do this sort of work to the benefit of HOMM3 community. The complete list with The Knights of the Round Table is not yet perfected (but will be posted ASAP).
8) LRH contains a ‘Downloads’ section where players can find a large collection of maps (some of them accompanied by strategy tips), and downloadable kits/patches who will make the player’s life easier. For example, Hamachi, Autosaver.exe, H3 Calculator and other programs are available there (for descriptions of such software visit the page (link:Patches). One final note: LRH is created by players for players!!! The founders have designed the tournament of their dreams. To make LRH a beautiful place for every H3 addict, all insights, comments or suggestions are highly appreciated (and always useful)! You can post them here and/or send an e-mail to LRH admins

Love HOMM3 Forever!

If the Tournamnet becomes popular, prizes will surely come along! So far, there are no monetary incentives for playing H3, just the fun of the game itself!

People who FIRST ask for prizes before playing with others can be found rarely in our Heroes Community nowadays...yes...this has changed.
If this is good or bad....everyone should decide that by himself/herself.

Hi!
Not only the nick is the problem (on LRH at list the nick must be different) but the external ip address. When you report a game on LRH you and your opponent should not have same external ip address. If you do, (so you play via lan and of course that both computers will have same external ip) LRH has a specific rule: you must not report against your friend (brother, wife, gf) that uses same internal network. You both may play on lrh, but NOT AGAINST EACHOTHER! For the account please sent email to lrh_round_table@yahoo.com so i can create it (you must specify the nick into that email).
For first login into that account I'll email a default password to whom sent the email to round table, During this first login, that user must enter Update Profile and change the password (follow a few simple steps into that form).
For any other things please contact me on cpcosminpopa@yahoo.ca
I hope it helps!

It is simple why!
Think like this: You have a tournament going on, and of course the first thing you'll care about is how to make it be as fair as possible.
So basically when you as an administrator have no possibility to check "personally" any player, you need to develop some rules that help you keep everything smoothly.
What am I talking about?
First big issue in online gamming is FAKE REPORTS. This means a player register twice, and then uses 1 account to boost another. How can you stop this without "hiring somebody to watch closely each and every game reported"?
1. By "inventing" a few programming rules that won't allow a player to open 2 accounts (usually this has direct hit on external ip address). When 2 players (brothers, wife-husband, even friends) are located on same INTERNAL NETWORK they have same external ip address and LRH prevents them for creating more then 1 account.
Here all what they have to do is to send email to me to allow both of them inside lrh tournament.
2. By recording each and every time when they "touch" LRH site by ip tracking, name tracking and other stuff in order to have a complete history of a specific player activity in a period of time. Like this at any moment, if you try to do something "illegal" LRH monitoring system will report that "illegality" to ROUND TABLE and certain actions will follow up against that player.
Now if LRH will allow 2 players from same network to play against each other then "those players will be recognized as illegal operational players" because all they do inside LRH site will show same ip on their names. So to avoid this, LRH PREVENTS THEM TO PLAY AGAINST EACHOTHER and knowing that LRH database system has today 261 players it won't be such a huge loss if you won't be able to play against 1 PLAYER - YOUR BROTHER. It is more important to keep the tournament clean from FAKE reports then allowing you to play against your brother. Sorry for the inconvenience but the time will prove my point. Instead of having 20 guys or more in Hall of Shame we have this simple rule and lots of games as clean as possible.
PLEASE NOTICE THAT BOTH YOU AND YOUR BROTHER MAY PLAY ON LRH.
You're just FORBIDDEN to play against each other, but both of you may play and report having no problems against any other guy from LRH.
I hope you do understand, and i hope you do care more about fairness then playing 1 specific guy against.
