ok i have made a test map just to figure things out and well i save my map. close the editor and then try and open it in the game but it's not on the list of maps. please help me if you can

Did you name your map (not the file) in the map properties?
In addition, if you've created it as a multiplayer arena, be sure to enable multiplayer maps in the custom game menu.
