I think that Aislinn may be the best hero that you can use... Or not That depends purely on the situation, I presume. If I learnt something in these 4 years of watching and reading, itīs that no tactic will be perfect or flawless. Itīs important to know lots of them to develop a tactic Sense, wich can adapt to any situation and thus apply the most viable strategy according to the context.

Who can beat a necro town?

well thats a good question to review the thread with!

As far as I remember Necropolis was not seen as "too" powerfull before playing random became popular.
There is a "fix" mentioned somewhere her in the forum about random templates!it is seting the necros starting template up with only "random" undead preventing the early vampire rush, (and too early a skelly lavine!).

Mapvise i think it comes down to that if necropolis does not have easy access to to many skellies the player is actual slowed down if he still tries to gather skellies (not the fastest moving creature), and without the skellies the town is rather basic!

townwise its not fortress there beats necropolis as most of the specials abilitys doesn't work on undead!
BoneDragon (all undeads) are immune to deathstare, (and poison ). So no matter how bad bonedragon are rated they are the only lvl 7 there can stand against the Mighty Gorgons!

Actual the army of the necropolis is a little like the fortress as its not the lvl 7 there is the most poverfull , but its still very much feared! The troops are very suited to the defense/might approch as ghost dragon, powerliches and vampires increase there value a lot in long lasting battles! And what to do against the "zounds" off skellies?

Inferno might actual be a town there sometimes can stay up against Necropolis! Depending on map demonfarming might be able to counter the skellys! But its a lot slower in getting going, and requires joiners to match necromancy. But demoniacs does get good skills!(diplo earth and logistisk).
Spellvise armageddon/implosion with efreet or any other fast enough troop or joiners in stacks there can survive a round or two! from the second best (magic ) heroes is also part off the treatment hopefully available and very much needed! I wish berserk would work too!

Maybe Towers shooting army (if having time) have a shoot at the necropolis also , but besides that there is not many towns i would like to go against the mob of skellies!

Finaly Necromancy is gamewise balanced to some extend with diplomacy and as that is horrible unbalancing the game and is often restrickted/banned by players, so is necromancy left unbalanced! (well thats a simplistic statement , but you hopefully get what it means!)

Mapwise,townwise or spellwise?

Inferno or Tower(only if you give it time) are the best towns against Necropolis?
Now that's a wise thing to say!

The longer the game lasts, the bigger the advantage for necro gets!

By the time you'll have 5 titans and 30 magi(week 4) your opponent will have 500-1000 hasted skelletons and exp tactics
To answer the question i'll go for Castle on a conservatory full map, or fortress on 8XM8.

Mmhmm itīs really hard to think what can kill a Necro town... Or at least for me

My best bet would be a Stronghold lvl 7 rush (On 100%, of course)

That should arrive in the middle of week 2, exactly when Necroguy is out harvesting skells... Or well, thatīs what I think

Or a Necro Might Army (Maybe Galthran?) to rush with P.Liches (because V.Lords wont be very useful if they canīt drain).

Opinions would be very appreciated!

Galthran is a solid choice for XL maps, but only if you intensively upgrade him to the point of usefullness. I know I've never had complaints about that guy, and he's a perfect candidate to raise up your forces little by little, for every level he attains. If you've got Isra or Vidomina as well, use them to harvest excessive amounts of Skeletons, which a high-leveled Galthran can use to sweep the entire map, given you have enough of them.

Besides, you already playing as Necro gives him the edge over Crag Hack. Sure, the Offense specialty is handy, but for an army so Skeleton-driven as the Necropolis, Galthran's added attack and defense are, in my opinion, much more useful. Use the little Mana he has available to him to cast some benificial spells like Stone Skin/Shield and Bless/Bloodlust, and you're good to go.

The Necromancer Town

IMHO, the Necromancer's Town is one of the game's most well balanced towns. There are no significant advantages or disadvantages when using Undead Creatures. Sure, they can't gain an extra attack because of their absence of morale but Necromancers/Death Knights  are the only heroes who can generate their native 1st level creature after each fight. They can't be blessed and cast prayer on and neither can they be cursed nor blinded. Destroy Undead purifies all creatures on the battlefield (hence killing all undead), but Death Ripple does damage to all living creatures. This can be an advantage when the Necromancer or Death Knight has both living and (un)dead creatures in his army but this strategy may ultimately hurt his/her morale greatly.

I think the main Skill a Necro hero should improve is their Necromancy skill; a skill exclusive to the Undead alignment. Isra/Vidomina are good starting heroes, use them to obliterate v. weak - weak monsters, which will soon end up as Skeletons. Build up as many Skeleton armies as you can! The Necromancy Amplifier and several artifacts (such as the Vampire's Cowl) further strengthen this skill. And whenever you feel like you're lacking a good offense team, you can always sacrifice those weak Walking Dead to create the more-powerful Skeletons. Wights do good in regenerating lost HP every round and Wraights are recommended when fighting against a hero with high MP count and can cast devastating spells. Vampire Lords are probably the best creatures in this town. Dread Knights are interesting & strong. They can curse and may do double damage in combat. Bone Dragons are also the better seventh level creatures. Necromancers begins with an advantage of being able to cast spells effectively and the Death Knight starts out with balanced stats.

The Necromancer town is one of my favourite towns to play with. The ability to bring Skelettons back is nice, but if you have the combo from the necromancer artifact, you'll get wights and in expert mode Lichs. I got 200 liches after a battle !

Besides that you cant bless Skeletons, Galthran gives plus Speed to Skeletons ...so use him with homeground, plus battlespeed arts and use haste, teleport and prayer on his skeletons.

Thanks for clearing that one out. Now I remember, they can't be blessed and ressurected! Ironically, though Skeletons and other undead beings can be cast prayer on... Perhaps they're not as unholy as the demons (who can also be cast Prayer on).
