Longest combat turn possible?
This is just for fun. I was thinking about it when my Minos attacked some Retaliated Striked Griffin (i.e protected by that ability), so here is my thought of the longest combat turn possible (i.e when a creature acts, until the next creature's turn).
In this case, the Minotaur Guards are just about to act when the longest turn awaits them
Player 1 is a Demon Lord with Minotaur Guards
Player 2 is a Knight with Griffins and Assassins
Player 1 Mark of the Damned on Griffin
Player 2 Retaliation Strike on Griffin
Player 2 Casts Decay on Minotaur Guard
Assassin poisons Minotaur Guard...
and now the turn begins... Minotaur Guard turn comes:
Minotaur Guard suffer poison
Minotaur Guard suffer decay
Minotaur Guard attack Griffin
Knight uses Retaliation Strike on Minotaur Guard
Griffin retaliate on Minotaur Guard
Demon Lord uses Mark of the Damned on Griffin
Minotaur Guard attack Griffin with the second blow
Knight uses Retaliation Strike on Minotaur Guard
Griffin retaliate on Minotaur Guard (due to unlimited retal)
Demon Lord uses Mark of the Damned on Griffin
turn ends

Man, it really happened half of it to me once (I was Demon Lord -- Mark of the Damned on Minotaur Guard -- Minotaur attacks Gated creatures)
And you forgot Corrupted Soil, though I don't think it's accessible to Knights, but anyway, the 'ideal' longest turn would have been with corrupted soil included

I also thought about this:
Minotaur has speed +2 (Windstrider boots + Aura of Swiftness), and walks maximum tiles for this job, each time hitting a fire trap

Someone should shoot this scene and put it out - it would be fun to watch

is it possible, if two creatures have unlimited retaliation, that they will keep attacking eachother until one or both are gone?

No, because a retaliation doesn't trigger a retaliation. Only attack does, so therefore the double attack of a creature like Minotaur Guard is the only way of receiving two retaliations.

Let us conjure up more of those funny situations:
Another one I just thought of: Nightmare dashing to attack Blackbear Rider at the corner of the battlefield with Preparation skill, Blackbear rider attacks first and pushes Nightmare one tile away at the corner, hence Nightmare can retaliate diagonally and fear attack works.
Or Warlord surrounded by 12 opponent creatures altogether and runemage activates rune of battle rage, warlord attacks each creature once, but due to chain strike, is effectively equal to 144 attacks at one go...
Or a more impossible scene when one creature is surrounded by a full pack of wolves which is in turn surrounded by a full circle of Grim Raiders on the same side as the creature's side. When one wolf attacks, all the wolves attack, and the creature retaliates to the wolf, triggering lizard bite.

You should add some Grim Raiders next to the Griffins.
Competetive might be Griffins sorrunded by lots of Wolves (I think 12 stacks are possible), however I don't know, if they retaliate against every stack then. Of course you can add some things like poison here, too.
Edit: Seems Sanyu had the same idea, but was a little faster than me.

I would love to see that Warlord striking 12x12 times, that would be a killer move. Same for the wolves surrounded by grim raiders.

Actully that with Warlords seems really snowed up! and with some grim riders too? But will the grim rider also hit those creatures who gets struck by chain lightning?

Haven't tried, but I sincerly doubt it. Grim bites should only apply to physical attacks

That wouldn't work. Lizard bite is only triggered when you attack, not when you get attacked.

What I meant was that the Grim Raiders are on the side of the creature. So if it retaliates, the grim raiders lizard bite the target too.
