Yeah, Pit Lords are not that bad at all, but a little expensive
A little expensive?
The creators probably thought that giving them two spells will be enough to make those creatures cost 1850.
They are average and cost like the best.

I think , only 3 units are definitely weaker than other ones on a same tier . Those are Peasant/Conscript, Brawler/Berserker and Bone dragon/Spectral dragon. The rest tiers haven't a sure outsider . IMO , the worst are :
2. Horned demon/Horned oversear
3. Iron golem / Steel golem
5. Djinn / Djinn Sultan
6. Wight / Wraith
My opinion is based on combined offensive and defensive potential, dwellings and units cost .

Harm Touch benefits:
1) Can dispel buffs off ANYTHING no matter if they have etherealness or not (and it can't be resisted): Great for dispelling Ethereal rune, killing Phantom Forces, dispelling buffs from ghosts, etc.
2) No retaliation. If you are fighting a huge stack, and want to remove the bonuses BEFORE attacking them with your next stack, but suffer no losses, it's perfect.
3) Suffer no fireshield damage from pheonixes, lava dragons, etc.
This is why it is MUCH better than vorpal blades...

Lets talk a bit about those Brawlers! They do not such!!! Get some runes, get tier booster building, tons def and you got the must ****ed creature in the game! Rune of charge + Speciel + Luck + a lot of things = The most sick dmg in the world... Those guys are better then you think, only problem is def! That is why the runemage has tons of it...

Pit Lord is weaker than the Wraith ... there's no doubt about it !
The Wraith has better stats, better damage, much better initiative, much better speed !
Harm Touch , and Vorpal Blade are both usefull abilities... but with the pathetic speed and initiative of the pit lord , you might never get to use the Vorpal Blade. Also Harm Touch can also dispell buffs, and the incredible thing about it ... it can dispell Anti Magic too ! It is very usefull when you want to score a very need Puppet , or when you want to kill a Phoenix!
Berserks are not crappy , but they are less usefull than other lvl 4 units. But they can turn very powerfull in the final battle though, with some runes on. Still 3-8 dmg seems pathetic for a lvl 4 unit... what are they marksmen ? ... Sure their growth is lvl3ish with horde building, but even lvl 3 creatures have bigger damage than that !
PS : they can be compared with inferno's dogs ... but they could even lose this battle .
btw , has anyone tried using runes on creatures from other towns ? like inferno's dogs ?

Maybe the Ancient Treants could fit as weakest lvl 6 also... But at least you can guard your troops for a long time with them ... The Pit Lords on the other hand aren't good for anything

I agree about Harm Touch. It's very useful at times, and not for the damage! (who needs damage when the normal attack deals damage anyway? abilities should have 'special' uses, not +x% more damage)

What are you talking about? Ancient Treants have 181 HP, and they block creatures' movement.
They are the perfect tank-creatures and they are extremely cheap.

Example? Don't tell me you'll waste such powerful offensive unit to dispel some kind of haste off 1 stack.. cause there is still 6 stacks left with haste so it does nothing in the end and your best damage dealer just wasted his turn.
Quote: and not for the damage! (who needs damage when the normal attack deals damage anyway? abilities should have 'special' uses, not +x% more damage)
Depends on the type of the special, really. You can consider harm touch as a expert cleansing spell that doesn't help your army, but kills 1 enemy unit instead and is free. A very poor special indeed. How many times have you used cleansing to dispel buffs? I guess it's a pretty tiny number.

Yes but at least it HAS its uses
And anyway, when there are a few Wraiths left, the Harm Touch can be used even for damaging and receiving no retaliation

I know you weren't asking me, but I'll give you several examples (from Duels):
1) Fighting Dirael or Galib, someone casts phantom forces (usually on dragons or titans).
2) Fighting Galib, casts arcane armor on titans or rakshasa.
3) Fighting treants toward the end of battle (this has happened MANY times in duel).
4) Fighting Claus and someone casts haste and/or endurance/divine strength on the angels, paladins, etc.
5) Fighting the dwarves (lava dragons).
6) Pheonix
I could list about 10 more, but you get the point. I have one many duels by wise usage of this ability (when I randomly get necro that is).

Oh, good examples, but I meant dispelling.. I am aware of the usefulness of harm touch against phoenixes etc (which are sure to be cast afterthe wraights are dead, btw )
And for dispelling.. ok, I haven't thought about arcane armor, point for you. But that's pretty much the only use I see. The other dispel examples are good.. for duels

I just gave you one important example ...
Quote: Also Harm Touch can also dispell buffs, and the incredible thing about it ... it can dispell Anti Magic too ! It is very usefull when you want to score a very need Puppet , or when you want to kill a Phoenix!
Imagine this ... the knight has few mana, but he had time to Anti Magic on his main troops ... that's when the wraith comes into play . Dispels Anti Magic and the you Puppet the paladins and win.

Yeah, but how often does that happen? Now wraights are primary target of any player since skeleton archers are gone (since they are fast, hard hitters), are you sure you'll have any when knight hero runs out of mana?

well ... probably as often as the pitlord is gonna be able to use the vorpal blade loool.
The point is the Wraith is much better than the Pit Lord for sure. Maybe, but just maybe, the Pit Lord Vorpal Sword is a little better, than Harm Touch, but that surely doesn't make up for the huge lack of speed and initiative.

Telepo.. no, I won't Hey, sure wraight is better for it's much higher damage and stats. It also doesn't need TA to become worthwile. But pitlord's specials are much, much better, and that was my point.

yeah ... instead of using a beautifull masss slow or mass suffering or ... you waste a turn on teleport assault, just to make a pathetic creature become usefull .
Pit Lords still wins the worst lvl 6 category

Wasting? And if you have done it already, what will you do? Cast it again? What for? It doesn't stack anyway. I'd say it's better to cast TA instead. :] Besides, sometimes, when resources are rare, you may find yourself without spells, but TA is always there if you leveled up your hero correctly..
The best thing to do with demonlord: Power of speed, excruciating strike, 1-2 mass dark spells and go TA!
