Poll Question:
The Treant
Hello everybody! It was a long time ago I was here. Now I got something for you now:
I hope you remember the Treant-problem: there were two ideas and two pictures about the Treant in Heroes V. The two pictures are the following:
and
the image of the real Treant in HOMM V. (i couldn't find a picture sorry!)
In my opinion the first Treant is much more better than the current Treant. I'd like to have him back in a patch or something! But I'd like to hear your opinions! Let's rock!
P.S.: Of course, abilities stays!!!

You're right, the current treant is way less cool than the first version... And there are already mods that replace their models.

Here you go. As far as I know, you just put the .pak file in the Heroes of Might and Magic V\data\ folder. I hope it works...

Well I think that's the only problem - they don't have it anymore...  But hey, nothing's perfect

Yeah you are right...
Btw do you play with the current or with the "new" Treant? Do you miss the Take Roots ability?
As I see now more people say that the new Treant is better...

Nah, I don't really use mods... I play with the ordinary version of the treant. But I voted for the beta-version one...

One last question: If I play now with THE Treant mod (means: in the game is the beta Treant) can I play in internet with thoose players who donīt use this mod?

About the Treant:
Well, the new Treant is a large creature, while the old one was small.
Every faction has 3 large creatures. Without the new Treant, Sylvan has only 2. I think that this is the main reason why they changed it.
Second, the Treant as tank-creatures has much better tactical use as large creature.
It hides the Hunters and the Druids, it can block more creatures' movement as large creature, because there are cases that he doesn't have to move to reach from one creature the other, as large creature, etc.
I will prefer to keep it as it is.

@GenieLord If they made liches large, they could've made the beta treant large too... Btw I think it's possible to make it a large creature. I'm pretty sure even. Somewhere in those text files...

It is, every creature has in its data file a property called CreatureSize, which is either 1 (small) or 2 (large). I'm pretty sure, however, that changing this value will only change the number of squares the creature occupies on the battlefield, and not the looks, i.e. the graphical data would have to be scaled somehow. Never played around with those things, though, so don't know for sure.

Is there any more differences between the beta-Treant and the HOMM V real-Treant?

Well, let's check it.
 
Hey, you are right! I have seen only the left picture and it seemed to me like small creature.
Anyway, they seem to me so weird (Well, the present Treant is weird, too ><.
It's a bit sloppy, with those strarge hands.
Huge and symmetrical hands look so robitic.
I prefer the present version.
BTW: if anyone wants to use the old one, there's a version of it here.

Well to give an answer to your problem in the mod I play with now is the Treant a large creature without the Take Roots ability.
But my question: is f.e.: the attack or the defense different between the two Treants?

The Status of the present Treant is:
A: 19
De: 27
Dam: 7-17
Ini: 7
S: 6
HP: 175
Ancient Treant:
A: 19
De: 29
Dam: 10-20
Ini: 7
S: 6
HP: 181
Check if yours Treant status isn't similiar to this one.

I like the Beta Trent better. I used this mod for some time but now i don't use any mods. It's easier to start online games anyway.
