yeah but rangers are no typically dark magic users so invisibility is not as vital as in other cases

Yeah right and watch the dragons, sprites or wind dancers kill them in 1 shot. You need multiple stalkers because they can move before you and reach you with more than one units should they get the right skills.

Cotn maybe not but then there's armageddon. And I do get mage guild 5 with necro week 3.

Familiar ground + tactics? Possible, you can protect the main stalker stack with a few single ones though and buy yourself some time. If SP is high enough the sprites/blade dancers will go down after one spell. Same goes for the lonely emerald dragon you could hope getting week 3.
Heck if you try it with swift mind, chances are that sylvan player won't even get to move his dancers/sprites/emeralds, since they'll all be dead.

It would be a waste not to get it. I guess it would go warlock's luck, enlightenment and destructive for midgame.

Actually it's not a good idea to take it anymore Not unless you plan to get level 25+, which never happens in a standard game anyway.

If you chose Vayshan, then you should get it.. but why to choose Vayshan anymore? ToTe screwed things up.

Because I played a game at random. I always play random all in my games.
So I got him as main an Yrbeth was my alternate.
I played against Stronghold so maybe Yrbeth could've worked.
About my build:

- got offered and took in this order:

Logistics
Scouting
Adv Luck
Basic Enlightenment
Basic Destructive
Arcane Intuition
Dark Ritual
Magic Resistance.

Then the game got disconected.
So what do you think? Should I have gotten Empowered Spells or smth sooner?

Yes normally I'd rather have sorcery or logistics too but should you get some luck arties he could still be powerful even with slower casting.

Playing random hero isn't the best idea because you can get remotely screwed by a bad roll (heroes are hardly equal, some are great, some are horrible). Sure you can still win with greater skill, but it's too much of a nuisance imho.

That's why we should make a balance mod, that would empower the weak ones...

Still, I play random hero mostly because I never know which starting town to choose... I like them all...

Seems like a reasonable build, the only trouble with him is you would take expert destructive and secrets of destruction slower than I'd have liked.

Btw anyone has an idea how exactly secrets of destruction works?

It seems that if you have only lvl1 destruction spell it will give you a lvl 2 spell and if you have a lvl2 spell too it will give you a lvl3. Can anyone confirm this???

Also, I was surprised how easy creeping become with dungeon post-Tote.
C'mon 32 Titans defeated by casting only two firewalls?

I don't know the perk's exact mechanics but I have been offered all three level spells regardless of what I had. Still the bottomline remains that around lvl 10 and if you have exp destructive chances are it will give lvl 3.

secrets of destruction will provide you 2 knowledges and a destructive spell which is not in your spell book,so if you have learned some level 1 and 2 spell, there will be a great chance for you to get the level 3 spell,otherwise you should be lucky

I'm a bit curious about dungeon creeping post TOTE.
yes, the stalkers are nice and you can make them invisible, thus giving you 3 turns to shoot eneny down with spells.
but, how do you get the mana to do so?
I mean, lets say it's day 3 of the game.I've managed to take the wood and ore mills without using mana (not always possible) and I have 20 mana now instead of 10 (also a long shot). I go for the sulfur or crystal mine next, guarded probably by mages, druids or some other nasty thing. I go invisible, cast my 4 eldrich arrow, lightning, icebolt( only 3). I killed 1.5 stacks out of 3 but I'm drained now. not to mention the next few days, unless there's a well somewhere near. where do you get the mana to keep casting?

Unless campagin , most starting 4 minerals mines are guarded by either tier 2 or 3....never 4. At the start you rely more on Fury rather than stalker/spells trick. Just make sure you upgrade them and buy all available stalker/fury at the start. They are the only things you ever need until you start massing tier 4-6. Don't bother buying any of those creeps during week 1-2, save the gold for a good arti. All you need is spells/stalker. Secondary hero can creep slow movers with fury alone or with some other tier 4-6 if you have lots of gold after checking the arti merchant in town.

I usually have the main creep the slow walkers since they are free exp. This way your main can level up pretty fast so by day 5 or 6 you should have enough sp to kill low hp tier 4's.
