Brazil is the best!!!
Fans of Soccer, short time ago were publicated by the FIFA the new ranking of the national teams, the first position is:
1-Italy
2-Argentina
3-Brazil
This is a joke. Brazil have the most skilled players and the most lovely public. The numbers are wrong. The soccer is controled by the magic of the ball and the feet of the men. Points and prizes are simply details in a completely diferent world.
If you agree please answer.
If you dont agree, answer too.

the truth is that Italy is the actual world champion I'm agree brazil has the most skilled players in the world... but that didn't count... the only that really matters is the results... and brazil's results lately are not the best... but I guess they will eventually get the number 1 again...

Isn't patriotism a lovely thing...
It is just awesome to watch Brazil playing football. Especially Ronaldinho, that guy is a genius. Currently the Italians are like a bit better but that doesn't mater since in the long run you guys pwn them all in football... Except perhaps Argentina which, as HoMaM wisely stated, have Maradona, who is a deity

Brazil all the way!
Maradona was great but so was Pelé. There are so mutch talent in Brazil. Some might be 'old' names but when i think soccer and Brazil today i think of: Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Kaká, Adriano, Ze Roberto, Lucio, Cafu, Roberto Carlos...
Did they win? No. But they still are the best football contry there are. I don't know even half so many players from other countries than Brazil. Even from my own country Finland football team players i don't their all names.

Well, about Peli ,my opinion is that he is a bit overestimated.Peli was playing football in weird years.I mean when Peli was playing football there weren't good defences, there weren't deffensive systems and so many things. The football in Peli's years was just 22 players who were running up and down the field trying to score, without systems without football philosophy. That situation wasn't in Maradona's years where football was much more complicated.
That's all why i think Maradona is better than Peli and the best football player ever.

Saying this you show who never seen Pele playing.
To those like numbers:
-More than 1200 goals in career (impossible for anyone today).
-2 World Cups (1958 and 1970)
-2 Continental Cups (the Champions League From South America)
-6 Brazilian Cups in the period of 1950-1960
-2 Clubs World Cups
-16 Estate Cups (all these cups he was the player with more goals: about 50 in 20 matches per cup)
And very, very, very other championships.
To those dont like numbers
-Pele and his team "DID STOP A WAR" on Africa about 1970
-Elect the sportist of the Century.
-The only player who could attract 200.000 people to a stadium
-A example inside and outside of the soccer field.
For more information see the Pele's movie: "Pele Eterno" (in english "Pele Forever")

Yes, i saw after.
But this is wrong too.
In Pele's period the players of the defense was much more violent, strong and brutal.
This did causes in the attackers much more fear to play, hiding the abilities and the potencial of the players.
In Maradona's period the soccer did gained a tactical side, together with the FIFA changes to make the soccer more attractive. This made the soccer a match between 22 "robots", leaving the original sill and strenght of the "humans".

well it's hard to change your opinion and u 've right dude that u consider Pele better than Maradona.I understand u cause you are brasilian. It's normal. But for me it's not normal to say that Greece has the best football team in Europe because we won the Euro. And yeah i'm greek and to be honest i 've got to tell u that Greece's football team just sucks
Back on topic now i still consider Maradona the best.Hmmm why don't u make a voting between those 2 to find out what the peole here think? Just to see some HC members opinions

I will put a topic about this.
But my opinion have not conection with my country.
I understand your opinion, because you saw more Maradona's matches than Pele's matches.

If those times when Pele played football were "so easy" for attackers, why aren't there many more players who scored 1000 goals or more?

i didn't mean that was "so easy" as u mentioned, but deffinetly was much easier than Maradona's years. And Pele had scored so many goals because he was a really good player ,to be more specific he was the best scorer. But Maradona had for sure better technique, better drimbling and so many "better".Maradona was much more completed player in every way.He is just "The God" of football.
You can say everything for Maradona ,like he wasn't so good, like he was(or is?)taking drugs but the point is that when we heard that name we all pay our respect to this football player.
He is just Maradona...

I think maradona was a great player... but who knows how many times he used drugs to play like that... and for pele I can talk because is was not my time...
the best player that I have seen play regulary in my life... was the Ronaldo from barcelona... not the one in the inter, not the one in real madrid... but at this time I think Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho are the best two players in the planet... not for his numbers but for the way they play... they have fun playing something that we don't see much in this days...
For italy I think they have a better overall right now... brazil lacks of good defenders, but I really don't get why argentina is in second place... there should be France or Germany that have now better teams than argentina...

i don't know many drugs that can help u in drimbling or in techique.Yes maybe drugs "helped" him in a way, like having more energy but please think about the things that he was doing in the field..
And Rio Ferdinand was cought for using drugs and for sure he is a very good player but he is not Maradona. And so many other players were-are using drugs and they aren't "Maradonas"

I know and I understand that... maradona does magic in the field... but the only fact of using drugs is a very dark cloud in his carrer...

I'm sorry, but you cant say this. Pele was perfect with the head, did shoot with the two legs with the same precision, ran like a rabbit and was strong like a bear, could easily let him "enemies" behind in a race.
Maradona only shot with the left leg, had a pessimal precision and impulsion with him head (do you remember the goal with the hand?).
I am not saing Maradona was a common player, he was a genius, but the facts show that Pele was very, very better.
Even the people from Argentina are not sure that Maradona is the best. Some think who Di Stefano, another argentine soccer player, was better than Diego.
