Quote: Neela and Torosar are good heroes. But you can use hero from another town. If you see in tavern Dace, Gunnar, Tazar, Mephala, Kyrre, Crag Hack, use them as main. There are more exelent heroes.
Explore thread HOMM3 Tactics, there are a lot of advices.
Neela starts with Scholar, wich sucks (only "usefull" playing vs. 1 computer on something XL @ 80% ). I'd go with someone of the other heroes you mention.

Hmm....
i havent been online much of anywhere but people with necro tend to build huge stacks of skellitons. many solutions.
1. use implode...
2. use necro
3 obtain necro artifacts befre him get grail.
4. dont, use mighty gorgons
5. suck it up and snipe em to death
6. dont listen to my advice it is mostly outdated.

I know this is way outdated, but I just got into the same problem of defeating necro hero and here's what I did to defeat it.
First the setup:
Date: Month 9, Week 2
Necro guy had 60+ all 4 primary stats, he had a Power of the Dragon Father artifact (stacks are immune to 1-4 level spells) and Spirit of Oppression (negates luck and morale) and Vial of Lifeblood (+2HP to units). He had 680 spell points.
His army was:
2000 Storm elementals
500 Dread Knights
2000 Energy elementals
12500 Skeleton Warriors
1200 Vampire Lords
500 Magic Elementals
550 Skeleton Warriors
I had Catherine (Castle swordsman spec) with 60/60/73/43 primary stats and 840 SP. My Army:
180 Phoenixes
225 Champions
100 Archangels
19 Azure Dragons
588 Crusaders
413 Zealots
78 Titans
Necro guy was an AI, but I doubt if it's any easier than a real player since he was throwing at me all the time Expert Armageddon, Expert Berserk, Expert Implosion, Expert Ch. Lighting.
I spent an entire day reloading and fighting the same battle. All of the common strategies failed since I couldn't use any spell against him and since I was the underdog direct combat was not possible (especially with the expert berserk).
My solution was - flee with units around and cast expert Quicksand until I can't do it any longer. I was left with only a handfull of Archangles (10) when he exhausted his spell points. His army was barely touched.
Since quicksand is not that expensive and I had more SP, I was able to restore my numbers using the Clone spell on my Arch and flying around to avoid combat. Energy elemetals posed a real threat since they are also flyers, but I got rid of them first and the rest was easy.
So,I'm writing this in the hopes that this will help some future player get rid of annoying necro hero.
In short, survive and mass quicksand until enemy exhausts his SP, then Clone the Archangles, restore units and attack with the clones. I called this strategy (Attack of the Clones)
Cheers

Nothing new here and is not about necro but how to defeat spell immune heros, as high level Thorgrim or combo wearing. And yes, the only viable solutions are quicksand then resurrect or siege battle/destroy catapult/block gate.
What map was that?
