ok, my alternative hero is the redbacks.
dressed kinda like this

only more simian and with two tails.

only without the armour
redbacks are always thought to be outlandish, and therefore, poor in the vanara civilisation. When there is a possiblity to be surrounded by wealth, they only wish to work with the peasants, sharing the labour, entertaining them with far off stories of times in distant lands. they dress in the cloths of beggars, learning skills from far off lands and do not wish to fight.
this naturally aggrovates the silverbacks who do little else but fight. but when challenged, the redbacks never back down. though physically small, they have almost supervanarian levels of guile and can easily out wit an opponent, all in a supremely lazy attitude.
redbacks have a sense of humour that is missing from most heroes. they love playing tricks on the silverbacks, insulting or hitting them them then running away at top speed. they are wonderful comedians, its just typical that everyone's a cynic.
when they go into battle, redbacks caperabout in beggars cloths, decorated with flowers and charms from local people, jabbing at people from a distance with staves, dodging out the way of blows. they prefer to use magic.
hero: Enma (campaign hero)
the self-proclaimed monkey king after a drunken fight with a dwarf, Enma woke up to find that he was on the run from the silverback warlords. Enma has now made a name for himself as a "robin hood" style leader, a guerilla fighter who always gets away without laying a single blow and always leaving insults. he currently is on the run, being pursued by Long fangs, for personally insulting him, hoping for dear life that the silverback wouldn't catch him in Axeoth.
hero: Kabi
holding a personal grudge against the demons, who cut off her tails, Kabi has been rallying an army against the demon hordes. however, when the army was systematically crushed by the silverbacks, Kabi felt that her real enemy was at home. she has now commited herself to hunting and, at very best, humilating silverbacks.

Level 2 Creature:
@ actionjack: I understand you wanted a completely different faction, something with a strong Eastern feeling (Where do you come from, by the way?  ).
However, after a few hours of brainstorming I realized all my ideas were based on Western culture; the hero concept was influenced by Tarzan lore and its rip-offs, while the creature is obviously an hommage to The Wizard of Oz. Just for the record, you were lucky to get even those - I had a few silly cartoons on my mind as well. 
I hate to say it, but I am not familiar with Asian folklore. The only thing I can think of (that has something to do with monkey people) is a lousy TV film by Hallmark ("Monkey King"  ).
I did try to add some Eastern touches to my drawings, though. 
@ bixie: Great work (I especially loved the different background of Redbacks  ), although your pics are stretching the page. 
P.S. The name is Long Fangs, and you better remember that. 
P.P.S. Sadly, the world of Axeoth is long gone.

i'm kinda familiar with eastern culture and lore, but thats many due to watching alot of anime on youtube and looking it up on wiki. still, its a starting point.

GL, just because they say east doesn't mean they are. they look more american indian, shamanic, possibly with some factors of aztec thrown in, not really oriental (unless you could mongol hordes)

Sorry to say, but there are already some pictures of the creatures, descriptions of the faction, etc.
The style seems to me like the one we have planned to work with.

another redback is Nema, a spiritaulist, and enma's twin.
in the campaign, he teleports around, helping, abeit rudely, Enma get away from trouble. he often reminds him of the pain that Enma has brought to the family.

just watch alot of anime, and you'll find them.
shows to recommend:
Avatar: last airbender (most of it is based on chinese and japanese mythos and lore)
Naruto (never go wrong with that, it has alot of japanese lore linked in)

Don't worry Vlaad... This is a very free creative exercise. The Eastern style are more or less a suggestion, and part of the idea origin, and in no mean a restriction. people are free to do what they like.... (althought still need to keep in overall theme of HoMM.. thus no Space Monkey).
And you drawing is very very nice looking... Pro level.

Well.. 1) The Orc are more of a Barbarian/Mongol type of style... so not fully easter oriental. and 2) This is a fun exercise... so should not worry if it would be added or not.

It'll all work out if we stick "Simean" on the front or end of a creature to distinguish it from another faction.
Also, would these monkey's be in any way connected (factionally) to genies? (Both Asian...)
