RALLY, ALL MINOTAURS!
Hail, all Minotaurs!
A time of darkness has descended upon our race, and the timespan grows between each encounter with one of my own.
Although our origin is dark and bloody, some minotaurs turned later to the light, and tried to lead lives that would somehow, somewhen, redeem our original sin.
And with time, the strong, proud and adaptable minotaurs grew many, and so were divided into clans.
I am the last member of the once so proud Clear Water Mountain Clan. It was we who guarded the mountain springs, ensuring drinkable water for this part of the world. We roamed the mountainside, fighting an unheralded war to preserve our most basic and (still much too under)valued nature resource.
But as all minotaurs know, I reached my "age of exploring", the period in every minotaurs life where he, for couple of years or so, severs the bond with his clan to travel the world, and learn it's ways and wonders. After this, they can chose whether they want to return to the clan (have to be re-initiated, a lenghty and solemn ritual in which the minotaur in question has to answer a chain of questions regarding morale, ethics, dedication etc., whereupon a physical and psychological trial has to be completed, all to ensure the worthyness of each minotaur), or do otherwise with their lives. A very few wishes to stay apart from their clan, for various reasons, and another few fail to complete the initiation ritual, and as a result, minotaur mercenaries are not unheard of (and highly sought-after), but a vast majority return to their clans to perform their duties.
Upon returning from my "age of exploring", I was confused, shocked, engrieved and enraged. I expected a welcome commity on my arrival, and when I found none, was thoroughly confused. I racked my brains for the reasons my clan could have for not showing, and the two I could come up with seemed highly unlikely: That the entire clan had been mobilized in a war effort, if which was the case I could not imagine avoiding hearing mention of; the other that I had disgraced the clan and thereby banned myself, which I found very hard to believe. Sure, I had bruised a couple of faces and dented my share of armors, but certainly nothing to even come close to banning.
I camped at the arrival site for a few days, wringing my wits and contemplating other possible sources of my clan's absence, but when I could find none, I ventured higher up in the mountains, covering as much ground as I could each day, every now and then uttering howls and listening for replies. But all I heard were my own howls, echoing back and forth between the mountains. On my sixth day of search, I discovered the first body. It was Amund, my senior by four years, who had trained me in axefighting and been a good friend. The strange thing was that there were no exterior signs to inplicate the cause of death, and his tragic departure was a mystery to me. Still, I wept for him, and gave him a Clear Water burial.
In the following days, I found more and more dead minotaurs. My father, his father, my mother, my entire family, as well as every other minotaur of Clear Water Mountain Clan. I was the only one left. For weeks on end, I did nothing but bury friends and famliy and wailing for them. When the last was buried, onehundredandseventytwo in all, I collapsed on the ground, devastated and exhausted.
I awoke days later, my body screaming for food and water. I then decided to seek the neighboring clan, the Blue Sky Mountain Clan, only to find them eradicated. Later, I learned this was the cruel fate of all the minotaur clans.
But this, you, the reader, will already know. And it is you, my fellow minotaurs, regardless of your current whereabouts, I call upon, in this time of great distress. I seek to restore pride and prosperity to the minotaur race (the good part of it), and it must start somewhere. So I say, as of now, I will welcome minotaurs into the Clear Water Mountain Clan. If we can rebuild this clan, others will soon follow.
So give your answer and spread the word.
The Clans are not dead!
The minotaurs will rise again!
The Clear Water Mountain Clan is the first step!
In addition, I will also post this in Kuma's Tavern and other places where people are likely to see it.

...hmm, I'm not sure I understand...is this a real clan, what type of a clan is it for, and why is it only for "minotaurs"? ...I think we only hav a few minotaurs around here, if any, and if you did mention what this is all about, I'm sorry but people like me are usually too lazy to read these types of posts all the way through...so a better approach is a nice, small and concise post stateing exactly what it is you seek...
...and if this is a real clan, why would we join you?
...by the way, why did you say you're going to post this in Kuma's Tavern? ...if you want to, then go ahead and do it...not that I would know why you would post it there anyway...

Hey, RMS, why the harsh reply?
I was only trying to get something going here!
What do you mean by a "real clan"; you do realise I'm not *actually* a minotaur, right?
I just thought it could be neat if those others here who had minotaur avatars could have a certain feeling of fellowship, but I guess that's down the drain.
I mean, that's what this is all about, right?
People pretending to be who they're not, and I had read some posts about Hexa's "quest", which doesn't seem any less obscure to me.
I must say I was quite disappointed when I read your reply. I was excited that someone had indeed replied to my post, since I wasn't sure how good of an idea it was. I thought there were some "behavioral guidelines" that applied when adressing other people on the net, like "encourage rather than discourage" and "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". I'm quite new at this, you know (or you should be able to see), and this isn't the kind of treatment I was hoping for.
I can see that parts of the post can be viewed as constructive criticism, but what's the "why would anyone join YOUR clan?" and "why are you telling us this?" all about, man?
I was trying to create an atmosphere, and I thought along the lines of "what would I think was cool?".
Well, I hope this reply didn't come out sounding too harsh, but I was quite disappointed.

Welcome Minotaur Dongio!
I know a minotaur who looks exactly like you! His name is Deemer. I am not certain which clan he belongs to but he may just catch you using his face. The scary thing is, I'm not sure how many 'Deemer's there are out in the posting wilderness!
And nevermind RMS. Elves with red hair never did like minotaurs. Those of the Hexan clan always seem to make the least sense, lol.
*smile*
PS: Nice to see someone with a sense of humour, lmao! "You do realize that I'm not *actually* a minotaur right?" LOOOOL! That was the funniest thing I've read today!

Well...well R we getting the ball back in the game Shae?@
I think it’s quite a insulting that you say that WE make the least sense.
I've always been proud to say I make no sense at all!
This inevitably tells us more of the people that don’t understand than those aren’t understood!@

Sorry, but I actually read Hexa's Quest and it seems to me like none of you actually have the faintest idea what you're doing. It didn't read well (and I read it all) and by the end of it, the only part I could call coherent was.... ummmm.....
Can I get back to you on that one?

hey!!! the quest is ok...
...we DO know what we are doing... at least most of us... DonGio, maybe you should join the party... who knows.. you might be able to find out what happened to your clan... and we could use another "powerhouse"...
BTW: RMS, although I do not understand why you replied like that, I think that DonGio's "clan" is a family-like clan (remember celtic clans) not a bunch of loonies creating a gang they call "clan"... I think it is fitting for Minotaurs...

...hmm, I'm sensing some bad vibes here, and I don't understand why...I sincerely apologize if I slighted you in any such manner but that was no my intent...although its not really any substantial excuse, most often when I post here, its either really early in the morning, or very late at night, so sometimes I'm not thinking straight...however, right now I still don't see how my post could've meant anything other than what I thought it did...
...but then again, I am by far one of the least eloquent speakers here so I guess that might explain it...I'm truly sorry, but I was just trying to get to the point, in as few words as possible...and I was confused by your post altogether...I have my answer now, but all I wished to know was if this was just some kind of roleplaying thread, or a kind of a gathering of minds, or if you were seeking fellow players to join a HoMM clan to play with other clans, or something...and indeed, I mean no offese, but there really aren't many "minotaurs" who regularly frequent here, sorry to tell you (and btw, I'm pretty sure I realize you're not really a minotaur)...
...oh, and also, it seems that you're just trying to jump onto the bandwagon, perhaps you got onto the wrong one...
...mayhaps I don't truly know what I'm talking about, or I just might be a tremendously horrific writer, but at least I'm having fun

If you want to jump in on the role play please join hexa/dragon domain threads, we really could use the infusion of more good story telling, we don't really have any opposition except for non player characters that I am currently writing.
If you want to start your own role play, I think your starting post was a good start. You could always copy your post into a new thread and then delete this thread to get rid of the non roleplay responses.
Either way have fun.
To critics of the hexa/dragon domain; we are just playing around, but if you notice everyone now has personal quests and motivations in an overall larger world. They can interact with a variety of different storylines and effect each other's quests and maybe even come to blows with each other. I know it might read a little chaotic, but it is dependant on 17 different people adding their view to the story.

Yeah, sure, it would be cool to join your quest, but I have a couple of questions first:
I'm not clear on the "rules of engagement" in this roleplaying bizniz: What am I required to do? Be on the net certain times? always have a pair of dices ready? keep track of my own stats? play Heroes online? Please tell me, I'm rather confused.
And if it came to blows between me and, oh, let's see, for instance... RMS , how would that fight be decided? Is there a play-leader (maybe not the correct term, but you get my point).
But otherwise, I'm packed and ready!

try reading Oldtimer's thread about the role playing quests.... dice not inculded, nor needed... you just continue the story whenever you can...
GameMasters: although we don't have a GM, it seems that Hexa, Oldtimer and sometimes myself, shape the story... but we only give rough guidelines... the rest of you (us) are the ones to actually shape the storyline and the quest universe... if it ever comes to duels... I dunno.. we might have to send a hell of a lot IMs...

Only one rule, don't kill a player character, if two story lines converge where conflict is necessary, we'll figure out some rules of engagemant. Just write an interesting storyline and others will help.
