Thanks for putting this here, but this isn't important enough t have it's own thread, a duplicate thread for the same matter which is being discussed in another thread.
Just copy this stuff to the other thread, no point in having 2 threads around about the same thing.

I mean, this is important, but there was no point in making a thread which already exists.
This is important stuff, but no need to make another thread for it.

thousands of people die everyday unnecessarily
according to that logic there would be hundreds of threads created daily, the other side would fill up pretty quickly

I'll may be a bit cynical.
The reason we discuss the death of these people(who are for sure much more less than 40000 people dying daily in africa or in Iraq or in other part of the world)is cause that is not happening every day.
Is the way these people died. Not the amount.
We all know that life has not the same value in all parts of the world.
But also if i think with your thinking i have to say this:WHY we "all" forgot the victims of the war in Yugoslavia(there were much more victims than 9/11) but we all remember victims of 9/11?
Yeah we know the answer.Cause a hit in USA doesn't happen every day.
A war,is happening in a much more usual base for sure.

that is one very TRUE statement.
That's sort of what I guess I'm trying to make a point of.
It's not every day that we have the columbine attack. not every day a crazed man goes to school and just decides to shoot everyone.
I understand every day people are dying in Africa, and other countries....and I pray for them all the time...but this is a thing that just recently happened and some of my friends had family members or friends who died....so I just wanted to make a little tribute to those loved ones.

Quote: But also if i think with your thinking i have to say this:WHY we "all" forgot the victims of the war in Yugoslavia
I didn't... Mostly because I was there though...
Some friends of my father died in the bombing of the national television building... If he hadn't taken a night off he'd die too... So uhm he counts himself sort of lucky
Quote: I understand every day people are dying in Africa, and other countries....and I pray for them all the time...
The main problem that people are dying is that other people are simply praying for them.
It would be way better to actually do something. Go out in the streets. Make protests. Refuse to join the army. Desert. That's what my people did, and finally broke free from dictatorship. As much as possible.
It would have been much easier to pray and let him commit war crimes on other peoples while repressing everyone against him but we chose the thornier way and made a difference. Our country is small and doesn't have much influence, but it helped us who live in it.
In systems in which it is considered honorable and right to simply stand by, pay taxes and do nothing, while firearms can be bought at the local supermarket and war is declared on countries for no reason whatsoever, of course there will always be people who go nuts and start shooting.
But all my sympathies go to the parents whose children were victims of all that.

no. that's not ok. I think the point is being misunderstood....and that could be partly my fault. It's very important that there are others dying in other countries.....and we honor them...You can't tell me you've never heard of all the disaster relief programs.....the walk to fight aids in Africa....all sorts of things...All I was doing was trying to take some time to honor these people.
If you have such a problem with me doing this and "forgetting" the others who died in different attacks....then YOU do something about it. Don't yell at me for not including them. I made this thread for the sole purpose of honoring these victims...I'm not forgetting the others or saying they're not important. Believe me.....I think they are. I've also done my part to help them....I went around in my neighborhood and collected money and donated it to help the people dying from diseases and famine and all sorts of things.
Please don't yell at me for not listing all the other victims too...Go make your own thread to specially honor them too.

Sad but I have been desensitized to all of this, we can't stop the compulsion that hits certain people at any given day. I felt for the victims and their family's now I just turn it off.
