Cultural Earnings for Post-Generations

I would like to introduce an idea that has stalked me for quite awhile, even before coming back to HC.

What's with pompous title, you may ask yourself? Well, once in a while, a special person creates a kind of an anthem for a generation, or a symbol for a specific class of persons or just something that really marks people and influences them. This kind of stuff I like to call them :"must see in one's life"

But, not all people get to see it, maybe beacuse of the place or the time.

So share that little thing that meant so much to the world!

Rules:
1.Don't post low quality stuff like the newest disco video cause it's hip or a video that "means so much to me" cause the other girl in school took my hair style.. Try to think in the big picture. I know it's hard, I will fail a few times aswell, but maybe we will get the idea.
2.I'm posting this in the Volcanic Wastelands cause it has a pretty big chance to be a total failure from what I've imagined. If it will get really good, maybe Pan will consider moving it to OSM.
3.Try to present the information, not just spam it!
4.Respect the CoC!

My first entry:

MadV, a member of youtube, arose from nowhere, and posted a few videos with him doing some pretty good magic tricks, with him wearing a V for Vendetta mask ( Goodbye ) , but his greates work was a few months later with his One World video calling out for people to post their Message to the world.
This was the proof of the words in the beginning of Goodbye video :

It might be true that there are 6 billion people in the world and counting, nevertheless what you do makes a difference! It makes a difference first of all in material terms, makes a difference to other people and sets an example...

Harry Chapin - Cats in the Cradle

Harry Chapin Cats in the cradle has yet to become in its more then 30 years existance one of the symbols for parents-children relantionship in the 20th and 21st century.

The song, written by his wife gained importance for Harry Chapin when he missed his son, Joshua, birth, while he was in a tour. This inspired many people out there in posting the lyrics at their working place to remember to keep in mind that childhood comes in one's life only once.

He was known to be a very good man, but despite his musical legacy, he died in a car accident when his son was 8.Rest in Peace.

Ladies and Gentlemens, here you have Harry Chapin - Cats in the Cradle and don't forget to take mental notes.

Yes Harry Chapin - Cats in the Cradle is pretty impressive song. My favorite song lyrics is Johnny Cash - When the Man Comes Around. Great song whit meaning. There are several videos for this song in Youtube this just shows the madness of mankind.

Requiem for a Dream

This is what I call a full masterpiece. Requiem for a Dream is both a compositional opera, and an anti-drugs movie( probabley the best there is).

It evolves the story around 4 people who face complete shatter not only of their dreams, but their lives, all to drugs. Each of them is leaded to a very degrading ending, but depicting the full extent of drugs addiction. The images may be harsh for some, but it's worth watching and taking life notes. Darren Aronfosky has managed to send the world a message

Also, its soundtrack, Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell will make the hair on your skin rise as it will haunt you for the day and more.

To get an idea what I am talking about, here we have Requiem for a Dream trailer

just a sidenote...

Requiem for a Dream was more anti-addiction than anti-drugs... as each had his/her own addiction ...drugs was just the easy one to spot (at least thats the conclusion at least 10 people i know came to, including myself) ...and of course the music is great

Doll Face

Science evolves. We THINK we evolve. As if we didn't change the planet enough, we start changing our own body.

"Andy Huang's Doll Face presents a visual account of desires misplaced and identities fractured by our technological extension into the future."

Don't let vanity rule you, don't be Doll Face

Balance

Balance, created by the Lauenstein brothers - Wolfgang Lauenstein & Cristoph Lauenstein, an 8 minute short-animation introduced in 1989, won its well deserved Oscar.

The idea behind the short-movie is that 5 "men" are forced to coexist together in a rather unusual way. But just as mankind does, it seems that idea is just not so suitable for them.

Wouldn't want to spoil the fun, would I? So just watch it: Balance

Say It's Possible

From time to time, an icon arises above all the crappy videos some post and really gets the attention of the rest of the world. I am talking about Terra Naomi's - Say it's possible.

Probably many will argue, beacuse they don't like the genre or the person. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but the story and more then that the message it conveys puts up alot.

For 3 summers in a row, Terra Naomi toured USA with its songs, all done with her own money, and in the last tour she was all alone driving for 10 hours a day and doing all the stuff a tour involves. Things like her all equipement geting stold from her car in Philladelphia didn't stop her or very expensive gas bills.

In her 4th summer she puts her videos on youtube and suddenly gets 10.000 hits a day. The dream comes true. It was the simple proof of what "Say it's possible" means.

She managed to won the youtube music awards, and having the most played song on youtube, 2nd being P.Diddy( haha). Here you have it:
Live and Official

"THIS COULD BE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL
COMBINE OUR LOVE INTO SOMETHING WONDERFUL
BUT TIMES ARE TOUGH I KNOW
AND THE PULL OF WHAT WE CAN'T GIVE UP TAKES HOLD"

Still hoping someone will contribute, but nonetheless someone spam something for every 3rd post of mine.

Hometown - Baghdad

Some are waging useless wars, some continue the killings, some have word-wars on national televisions, some fanatically make war propaganda. But... but... Some just want some peace and quiet.

"You can join the police, you can join a gang, or you can just join a band." Hometown Baghdad is a serie of short movies about a metal band, the only metal band in Baghdad.

Maybe their music is displeasing to some, maybe it's not the best the world can expect ( personally I think it's somewhat good ), but the message is clear : Do something good, when everyone else is doing bad.

My favourite of them all Songs of Pain. What's important to understand that they are not blaming anyone, they simply want a normal life without daily shootings and flying body parts all over the place. They are simply Sick of this

This is a great, emotional song.  I've listened to it many, many times.  I have the CD (Greatest Stories Live).  Actually a lot of his songs were great and told wonderful stories.  I've always been partial to "Thirty Thousand Pounds Of Bananas" but only because I live sort of near Scranton, PA.
