Moments of Satisfaction
In all the time we have played heroes there have been some special moments etched on our memory. Something distinctive enough that you cannot easily forget. Maybe because you saw it for the first time maybe because it was awesome to behold or you had invested much of your effort in making it work. This is a thread for posting your most satisfying moments in your heroes career and I'm sure you have many!
Start posting people!
In the meantime here are some special moments of mine
That's from H3. I was Tarnum in Clash of the Dragons and I was facing off vs some fairy dragons. One stack remained so I thought what the heck let's cast an implosion on them! Magic mirror triggers, implosion targets my sharpshooters and they resist it! Believe me I was relieved!
My Jhora is besieged in her town with only a handful of rakshasas to defend me. As they fall I keep raising them with raise dead and eventually win only to lose my hero. But I get a lvl-up screen(even if she's nowhere to be seen) so I decide to check the tavern-bingo she was there with the arties and her new lvl-ups!
Which reminds me. Recently I got a close battle with my Vayshan and I had one turn to do something least I lost or retreated. The bad part was that the opponent had 4 stacks and scattered and I didn't feel like retreating either even if he was greatly weakened and I had exrta unhired troops. So I armageddoned us both Luckily the unicorns didn't resist and I saw that I could buy my hero yet the opponent could not! At first I thought it had to do with finishing him in his town but I tested it and you can rehire your hero if you lose by a self-cast armageddon!
It was mostly that I acted on impulse and it came out positive that I loved!
On the topic of armageddon I once lured the opponent to the centre by placing a unit of mine there barely at the edge of the falling meteor. That was pure joy let me tell you!
On H4 I had a close necropolis vs haven battle and I wanted to prove to my friend that devils and ghosts can be a good choice I placed my imps in front of the angels, farther from the reach of his knight and my death knight and they began transferring mana to my near devils. The angels lost their resurrection and after a few rounds my devils had enough mana to cast ice demons again! It wasn't really needed but it felt good!
As was with that one time with Dogwoggle in the gathering storm!(Yes I've actually played it! ) I got a freezing artie and thought I'd attack lots of sea-monsters with my hero alone for the fun of it. Normally I'd have no chance cause they can swallow you but I kept freezing them in every hit! Needless to say that the other few times I tried it just didn't work and they consumed me from the start lol!
In a custom duel me and my opponent came to a part where I had a stack of ancient treants and him three stacks of plague zombies. Naturally I defended and the zombies kept being retaliated against When he changed his tactic and stopped attacking I started killing them with deadeye shot and they were favoured too Unfortunately I didn't win that duel but that feeling while I was getting the upper hand was great!
Another H4 fun battle was when I played chaos with blackies and efreet under the command of a death knight! Their already insane att/def stats was boosted by half the value more and they just didn't die My dragon stats were around 60 and efreet a bit less 40 hehe!
Something on a lesser scale! A small fight in my town in H3 earlygame where my skellies and zombies died and only one wight surviving My opponents mana was over and he had a few lesser units though the wight kept reviving its 18 hp per round! I won because of that, probably the only time wight regeneration paid of in recorded history.
H3 again. I was attacked by the opponent who had had castle and some red dragons while I had inferno. The dragons attacked my numerous(to say the least)familiars but one survived! And it hit the dragons from behind so firebreath hit his champions Wee! Purely random and lucky but amazing fun!
An older memory takes me back to H2 and concerns ghosts and a big stack of peasants Remember those evil creatures that increased their numbers for every unit they killed? Absolute glee even after the first time
H3. There was this evil relic, armour of the damned that used to cast a nice selection of spells in the beginning of the battle: Slow, curse, weakness and misfotune! That's satisfying enough on its own but imagine when you are afraid that your opponent will prevent that with orb of inhibition...and see you were wrong! Apparently they are not considered spells and cannot be blocked.
Coupled with cloak of the undead king in Sandro's campaign was sick!
Back to H5! I'm sure you have seen that one and loved it! You make a phantom forces clone on your titans and the opponent has one action before they hit in full range. He attacks with a good melee unit having no choice really, misses and gets a lucky retaliation
One for kicks, H3 style! After an exhausting siege only one small enemy stack remains but no you won't blast it with a spell You'll instead hypnotise it and make it go to the moat Pretty degrading really!
Another classic is attacking 20 archangels with 1 efreet sultan and have them suffer the fireshield effects. Talk about cheapness but it is always heart warming! Too bad in H4 you couldn't do more damage to a unit than its current hp
A memorable moment from H4 when I attacked some goblin knights to see if I could defeat them. My friend was ecstatic as my army would be decimated...except I realised then that town portal worked in battles as well Wheew! It was so much the sweeter seeing him bang the table lol!
H5. I'm sure some have tried that but it's great fun creeping with 2 paladins! Each heals the other after it attacks so you just feel untoucheable! Doesn't work vs most creeps though I enjoyed the feeling when I first tried it!
Aaand...Some motw goodness! It wasn't really a grand moment in my career but seeing 3 stacks of archliches get their dark spells aimed at my gargoyles(as if they were going to attack ) mirrored 6 consecutive times was pretty fulfilling! They just kept cursing each other That was with Zehir.
With whom I had a lovely surprise in the last H5 campaign. In the battle with Sovereign you know, when you have gated enemy units all over? Yeah banish can do away with almost all of them I FELT THE POWER!! It was the first time I used it but come to think of it all these units for no mana is simply great.
There must be many more I haven't mentioned but the sands of time have taken their toll!
My part here is done for now, awaiting to hear your own moments of greatness! Come on, bragging time!

Oh, I'm pleased everytime I get Resurrection in mage guild

I'm sure you loved it

That reminds me of the idea of training kamikaze armageddon heroes with mentoring... I can't say I ever tried it though.

It was definately nice to discover that you could literally build a phantom army with MotW. The first time I noticed it was while defending a town... two MotWs on Mages and the fun could begin and the spell was much cheaper back then, too! Only downside was that Motw took a whole turn to cast.
If my memory was better I might remember some better moments...

I was playing with a friend (hot-seat. Does what I've typed thus far sound wrong to anyone else?)) and there was a battle between 2 big elf heroes.
Anyway, he attacks my Druids with his Shadow Witches. They walkover and attack.
He rejoices, thinking they will all die.
The Druids lose 2.
Him: wth?
Druids: retaliate. Kill 37.
Him: OMG, WTH!!!!!!
[pause]
Me: Those were furies you were attacking with.
Him: [hits head on table]

This isn't a specific moment, but rather general. Whenever I unload into a stack of Spectres with a really high-level stack and repeatedly miss, it feels sogood when you finally hit them and annihilate them. , like has happened to me recently.

I can still recall one time, when I was playing Sylvan against the A.I Academy, when my town got attacked. He kept using Raise Dead to revive his Genie and Mage stacks, so I eventually lost. But then I was surprised when I saw all of those stacks die at the end of the battle, so we both lost, but I kept my castle. It was odd.
I have since learned that Raise Dead only revives the undead permanently, and not for living creatures.

Not trying to nitpick over here but ring of speed, celerity coz celebrity is a funny spelling mistake

That special moment was today, while I was playing Gotp. I've choosen Necroplis and Kaspar (ofc)
I started rushing Red Player cuz his weak army came a bit to close, and I hired another hero, cuz' I haven't captured all the mines yet. That hero was Naadir. I have bought my first two Death Knights and Ataaaack...
Gremlins were strinking first, they killed a bit o skelies, skelies killed a bit of gremlins. At last, Death Knights reached those stupid Academy servants and mow down one of the stacks at last.
And...
WTF?! O_O
Ghost Dragons appeared O_O Wow...
That was ridiculous but satysfying

My older brother turned me on to Heroes II when it came out. He had much more experience than me at the game and Dragaggedoned me all the time. I never did beat him in H2 When H3 came out he bought it first. I only played when I could hotseat over at his house. Obviously he had much more gametime with that game as well and demoliched me every time. Eventually I got his copy of the game when he got the 1st expansion and got a lot of gametime in. Then on one epic evening, we played hotseat... he-wizards, me- knights. I broke and attacked him in his castle. By the end of that battle he had a small stack of Titans and I had a group of manicores that had joined me. He ran out of spell points, and I kept resurrecting. I WON! After being pwned for years I finally won. That is the most satisfying... beating someone who had consistnetly beat me.
